Both very good hotels and being a lifetime Hilton Diamond member with points galore my hotels are free. But wanting to get in the heart of Soi 11 for a few days myself.
Why anyone would want to be in the heart of that tourist shithole when there are so many other places available is beyond me.

Now that I've played around with the Ramada website, it seems that the super good price was really too good to be true. The actual cost in THB works out to more than double the quoted AUD price. I assume that there's a glitch in the conversion rate (when I price in USD, that matches the THB price). Nonetheless, I could still stay there in a standard room IF the place was decent. The closer proximity to Sukhumvit Rd and the BTS station appeals.

Unless Soi11 is a must area to stay at for you, you may want to give the Ibis Sukhumvit 24 a try. They have a Mercure as well (same building, higher floors). I stayed at both and it's just by the BTS, Emporium, Emquartier. 1 stop to Cowboy and 2 stops to Nana.

    Hi all.

So its my first trip to BKK and I was wondering what's the area around the conrad like? I read from another post its quiet? I have my wife with me and she is not up for partying and certainly does not know about our extra curricular activities, all she is in intesred is in shopping, I was going to leave her to it while I went to a spa or somwhere to have fun or invite a girl round.

    Swissotel and Emerald

Never stayed at either as I prefer higher end hotels but they're in neighborhoods I frequent often.

I'd check prices across different sites and even their own sites, since prices vary, but usually, $60-70 a night seems to be what I see for their most basic room (gets cheaper with longer stays).
I appreciate the first hand account of your experience at the Jasmine City. I hope it will be available when I get my air confirmed. Thanks again!

Stayed there last Feb for 5 nights in a suite, great room, overall fantastic place to stay (I normally stay in the adelphi suites but it was my 60th birthday and retirement) however when I tried to take some one back from nana but they said it was too far, even for long time. I did see several thai / european couples at the hotel but no idea how they were related.

You also have to pass the concierge desk as you enter.

Taxi's were easy to get, only real issue was access to skytrain using the hotels ferry, it goes every half hour most of the day upto about midnight.
Sure, here's the friendly English translation:

There are many beautiful hotels along the river, but if you're a looking for nightlife fun that's the absolute wrong area to stay in. It's too far away from the nightlife zones. Go-go girls prefer short-time appointments, so they prefer to go to a short-time hotel near Nana or Cowboy. This way they can get back to work immediately after. Some even asked for an extra 500 baht if they had to go to my hotel. If you really want to stay in that hotel, you'll have to be willing to pay for their taxi ride back, but I doubt any go-go girl would agree to come all the way there. Even if you use escort agencies they'll ask for an extra charge for the taxi in that area.

Many thanks for the confirmation. Much appreciated.

Contemplating a week in BKK before returning south. Usually stay at Sheraton or Grande Centre Point 21 on Sukhumvit but fancy a change. The cantilever pool at Okura Prestige is a must, and I like the look of Chatrium Riverside for a change of scenery. Both websites say green / joiner friendly but wondered if any senior members here have stayed at either and can advise. Many thanks.
