Posts: 160I am coming to Bangkok for a few months. Can anyone suggest a good hotel or apartment in Sukhumvit in a central location close to a BTS station. I will be working so I need a good and fast wireless Internet. I am not going to bring in a new girl every night but girl friendliness is a plus.

Posts: 137Will be in BKK in Nov. for 3 days before going down to Pattaya. Can't decide between the Majestic Suites and Aspen Suites. I have stayed in Majestic before and all was great except the breakfast. Seems only drawback for Aspen is it's kinda far down Soi 2. Majestic is older Aspen is newer.

The Ambassador Hotel has a huge collection of birds including Macaws. These Macaws keeping scrapping with each other and making a huge racket that wakes you up like an alarm at 5 in the morning, and they start cawing again in the evening. If your room in Grand President is facing that side. You've had it!
Ask for a room not overlooking the Birds of Ambassador Hotel.
I enjoyed my earlier stay at Majestic Grande. Smaller rooms, more expensive, but it's worth it.

The other is not so obvious. I'll let you know if I figure it out!

You may want to call fX regarding GF status to be sure though. Unless they have changed policy recently, there are no joiner fees if your person of interest is WITH you when you check in. If not, it's a roll of the dice depending on who the bell captains/guards/desk staff may be.
Take a copy of the email you received with you when you check in. fX can be mercenary on this point.
Rooms at fX are OK, a bit tight, and I am not a big fan of the 'boutique' ethic, but the beds & breakfasts there are quite good, almost enough to say that it's worth the price (1999+125 Baht.)

President Palace:
All of the President (Compass) chain of facilities are GF. You can normally bypass the ID card checking/taking thing if you really want to (it IS in place for your protection) if you just say, "Fan ching ching khup", and state your room number as you slip by the bell guy. (I used to just make mention of it beforehand and grease the guy's palm with a blue or red note to ensure that he would simply disappear when I arrived with my little squeezie for the night.)

An email to both President Palace and fx suk (asoke) revealed no joiner fees.
President said they may take photocopy of ID. I'll probably just go for the 2099 deal on wotif.

Posts: 2a bit late, but wanted to thank barko for the original grand millennium tip. i used it during the 2nd week of september and was offered the club room as an upgrade option as he stated earlier.
gm was very nice, atelier restaurant was definitely a place for a good meal.
it's unfortunate that the original wotif deal has ended.
staff was attentive and friendly, the hotel is gf, however they did require the id of your guest for "your safety."
thanks barko!
