FYI, I felt that I should report that the SilQ hotel is available for an excellent rate on Agoda. A standard room can be booked for $55.50 a night all inclusive, without breakfast, or $63 a night including breakfast, all inclusive.

On the SilQ website booking direct, the rate is 1950 Baht + 17% tax including breakfast - which comes out to slightly over $70 US.

I just booked myself into the SilQ for Dec. 10-13, and because I had 12500 in Agoda Rewards points (good for a $25 discount), I ended up paying just $141.50 total for the 3 nights.

At those rates, the SilQ was cheaper than the Dawin, and only a few dollars more than the Majestic Suites or the Key.

    3 Nights in Bangkok

Landed at around 18:00 and took Airport Express Bus AE3 to Sukhumvit. They charge a flat rate of BHT 150. The Dynasty Grande Hotel is just 350 meters from Sukhumvit via Soi 4 or just 300 meters if you enter via Soi 6.

Hotel is nice, location very nice and staff courteous. No extra charge and no hassles. They ask for identity card only if you bring in a lady boy. This nice subtle warning could have saved me some time.

First night I brought in a cute tall Thai girl. I realized my mistake, the moment she took off her ‘sandals’. A quick clinical examination refuted her claim and I send her back with BHT 200. Next time I came back with a genuine girl and no identity card was required.

I booked the hotel through Agoda for around BHT 1800 per day.

Grand Sukhumvit Hotel Bangkok (previously Sofitel)

    Hi Guys,

I'm visiting BKK for a few days end of year and would appreciate some info.

Can anyone confirm this hotel is 'guest' friendly?

I've come across numerous listings saying it is, but no 1st hand accounts.

    Thanks for your anticipated response.

Anyone got any opinions on if St. James Hotel, Bangkok is any good? Is it girl-friendly & does it have an in room safe? I've been reading a few reviews off different sites & it seems to be ok in terms of price & location.

Or does anyone have any other suggestions for decent priced hotels in the heart of the city in a good spot?

Room was overlooking street, very clean, good facilities. Tea/coffee maker, some crockery, nice linen etc. Lcd tv with reasonable channel variety.

Aircon was very noisy though, even on lowest setting. Some street noise in the way of motorcycles with loud exhausts, no noise from other rooms at all.

Breakfast was good, very nice setting. Food basic but well prepared. Quality cutlery and crockery.

Staff very attentive, helpful and friendly throughout hotel.

    Totally gf.

Liked it and will be back.

    Furama Xclusive Asoke question

Has anyone ever tried the 24 hour available masseuse service here? The girl looked very pretty, but I have no idea if extras are offered. On the other hand, there are a long row of massage places within 5 minutes walk, all of which are explicitly for massage and sex.

Still, it would be a nice morning option if available: massage and a hand job to wake up!
