With Agoda, you need to multiply by 1.17 to get the price with taxes.

Right now I think there are real bargains for Grand MERCURE Asoke Residence in Soi 19 (in addition to Silq etc.). It seems currently to be a safe distance from the Asoke gathering. Free upgrade to Junior suite (more than 3 nights) incl B / F 1560 on Wotif. That is 85 Sq. M including kitchen. That is an unbeatable deal. Other than location, it kills the Majestic Grande right now. I might even move there myself. Don't get me wrong. I do like Majestic Grande okay.

I usually pay 2700 all in at the majestic grande. I have done a few booking for March and April in November last and that was the rate. I might recheck in case rates dropped.

I would be interested to know what motivates guys to book so far in advance. I never have as don't know how to predict the future.

I don't see any problem with getting to and from Nana from Soi 19 right now. Suk traffic is very low . Majestic Grande is good if you really have to be right at Annies. LOL The Annies girls sitting outside will see you every time you come and go.

With my budget I have choosed to stay at JW marriott Sukumvit or Sofitel Sukomvit.

What one whould be your option if you could stay for free?

Sofitel is not far, but JW (if you mean the one in soi 2) is closer to NEP

Checked in yesterday. Nice hotel and a perfect location! Right around the corner from NEP and Nana BTS. Got a deal and am in one of the executive suites. Basically a studio apartment. I'm here for two weeks so it worked out nicely.

I can confirm it's girl-friendly too. Brought a friend back last night and had no issues. I did book the reservation for two adults so I'm sure that helped.

I have been happy with Silq in the past, but never got it that cheap. Because Soi 19 is right near the protest they may have had to drop their rate. Expect it to be definitely a cut above Majestic Suites.

One quirk is some of the staff don't speak Thai as come from Myanmar. Hopefully have okay English though. Breakfast area is very small.

Had a friend staying there 2 weeks ago, yes it is need of refurbishment and the walls are paper thin! Heard a number of people clapping after a guy finally got his rocks off while we trying to make a few phone calls.

Is still a very good location though and runs quite smoothly.

The sister hotel The Grande on soi 2 is short of custom, they are willing to barter prices at the moment.

I stay at the Silq on soi 19, got a very cheap price of 1500 baht all up for 2 weeks next month. That was via the website which quoted 1500 ++.

Called them after I booked and begged for 1500 flat. Certainly sir, as you wish. .

It is a buyers market at this time of the year.

I will probably go with Majestic Grande or your recommendation of Silq on Soi 19.

I have stayed there 4 or 5 times in past 5 years. No problems with hot water. The safes always worked. Getting the code done the first time did not seem to be logical to me, but the bellman was glad to show me exactly how it worked. The Deluxe room is more luxurious (in what I think is traditional Thai decor) as well as larger than the Superior room. Breakfast is good with Thai and western dishes including a made to order omelette. Breakfast is all you can eat, so if you like it, you may not need another meal til dinner. (Thai food is so good in Bangkok, I usually was tempted to try new things all day though.) It's not the Hyatt, but for $40 it's quite nice. Yes, they do take a visiting girl's identification when she arrives (as protection for the guest) and they return it after you tell them all is well when she leaves. Depending on the weather, the rooftop pool can be a refreshing place to unwind after a long day. No services at the pool, just fresh towels, and I usually take a couple bottled cocktails when I go to the pool.

Just wondering if anyone has recent info on Majestic Suites as I am thinking of booking there in April?

I haven't stayed there since 2010, have the rooms been updated? If not are they old and tired and worth the money or would somewhere like Phachara be a better option although it is a bit more expensive?

How is the in room wifi?

Why bother to review a 3 star budget hotel when you normally do 5 star?

Makes any sense in the world. Why pay for a 5 star hotel if I just need to stay there a couple of hours? And as I said before it was adequate.
