Thanks for the tip. I booked a couple of nights there in July although with taxes and a bullshit 10% 'service charge' it comes out to 2400 baht a night. Still good deal though.

To make clear - the Athenee 1999 baht rate is good through September 30th, 2009. Bookings must be made by May 24th.

This is a Top Tier hotel - not unusual to see regular rooms going for 5000 baht.

Why do you specifically mention 'not in mongering mode'? Would that be a problem there?
I would have thought, that a major reason for getting a serviced apartment, as opposed to a hotel, would be the total liberty of whom you bring to your room(s).

Girls you bring back to your domicile now know where you live. That is not necessarily a desirable thing, especially if they get clingy or turn into stalkers.

Recently stayed at Hopeland serviced apartments in Soi 24 while not in mongering mode.
If playing the field, I would have probably gone to my normal haunts.

Special price was 2300 Baht, including free breakfast, free wifi, small but usable pool.
Room had a bedroom, lounge and kitchenette. Very nicely furnished.

Mostly Japanese customers. Only down side was on quiet days, the breakfast selection was a bit limited, but adequate, e.g. no scrambled eggs or omelettes.
Coffee was a bit variable, too weak on occasions.

Wifi needed special settings under Vista, but fine once setup. A bit old fashioned?

I would go back as a very classy room at this price.
Slightly too far from Suk (400m+) but still reasonably close to Phrom Phong station.

Has anyone stayed at the TownLodge soi 18 recently. GF but Guys used to avoid the hotel due to construction work near the hotel. What is the latest news.

You may forget the best value for money is the pb hotel sukhumvit soi 3 its the famous short time hotel but upstair they have realy nice room better then nana and overs. Breakfast room little old fashion but ok and its only 800 baht. But there is no reservation website just go there or send email or fax or just go they have always room.

My proposal is far but easy for you to get to. From wikimapia in my previous post I can see that Shangri La is close to Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain station. You then would have to change the train track in Siam BTS station going to On Nut and leave in Nana BTS. Then walk to Beer Garden on Soi 7.

Guys guys. Patpong just (5 minute may be 10 with taxi) go to my bar sol and then pick up at the corner there. Open bier garden live music. In one hour all done.

I'll stay next June for just one night in Bangkok (first time in thailand) at Shangri La before visiting north of the country.
What would be the easiest solution not to spend the night alone knowing that I don't want to choose from an escort agency and that I don't like them too young (I prefer 35+) ?
Any disco in the Shangri La or any pick up place not too far ?
