For those of you daring to go I just checked and the Carlton has a $46 per night rate, which it says is 90% off their regular rate of $464 per night. It looks like a smashing place and if you are already in Thailand, it would be a nice splurge. Their website has rooms at a wide variety of rates; the cheapest is $72 so still a bargain.
Just be sure you don't pull a negative test. In that event, it's the Hotel California for you.

I can highly recommend the Carlton hotel in Bangkok. New building, great facilities and rooms. Cool rooftop bar and good restaurants. And best of all the superior swimming pool.

Posts: 120Seemed a lot more at JW Marriott Soi 2
Stayed 13 days, late November / early December. Place was busy. Exec lounge got so crowded on some nights they were asking guests to make a reservation for evening Happy Hour. Breakfast downstairs always close to being full. But still, I got a very good rate for my entire stay.
Going back mid January, and staying at Westin Grande, then a week in Pattaya (VT6 condo), then a few more nights in Bangkok at Sheraton Grande. Rates are noticeably higher.

Posts: 6305Bangkok hotels running at 18% occupancy. Great time to book high end hotels for dirt cheap.
Phuket is at 16% capacity. Seems like the Sandbox is going well.

Posts: 3337After years of staying at Dynasty, Majestic and Omni when in Bangkok, I have been going upscale lately, and staying at the Carlton, Marriott and Landmark. So far, my favorite is a corner room at Landmark.
