    Grand Milennium Sukhumvit

Any intel on this hotel? It is supposed to be a brand new 5 star and I am deciding between it and the JW. They are offering great intro rates. Thanks

I can recommend a new place a few minutes on foot from Khao Sarn Rd., Siam III (Super Siam) guest house. Off the main drag on a soi surrounding a temple, it's relatively quiet:

    http://www.newsiam.net/ns/index.php

The rooms are small but super clean and very well maintained. Includes AC, fridge and TV. Double/twin is 840 baht. I think twin is slightly larger. Ask if it's possible to choose when you check in. Not GF so good for crashing alone only. Can book on-line with credit card. Owners are honest and reliable (I have no connection to this place but have stayed there on two different trips). You're in the middle of a backpacker ghetto so lots of cheap places to eat, Internet cafes, etc nearby. Taxi to Siam BTS is about 60. 80 baht, 10 minutes, but it might take more time during rush hour.

Of course there are cheaper places nearby but since I'm no longer the 25 year old hippy, I've gotten a bit soft and need cleaner digs when I travel nowadays. If you need info on other cheap places, feel free to PM me.

    Dream 2

To echo a few posts below, a friend from work is just back from Thai holiday with his wife (totally, completely not p4p, at least as far as I'm aware but you never know ....) and they stayed at Dream 2 for a few nights at the start of their holiday. They were well impressed with the place, didn't see anything going on (guests of guests) and highly recomended the place to me.

Sommerset Park View (same mgmt as citadiens) is just down the street and I'll confirm that many drivers not know where 16 is and it's a good hike to Asoke BTS. Park View was however very girl friendly.

    Citadines, Soi 16

Just stayed at the Citadines for the past 2 weeks. Had to pay 2500baht per night due to unplanned trip, every other place I tried was booked out and I only had 1 day to book something.

    Anyway, the place is ok.

Very clean rooms and good maid service. Cleaned inside the fridge everyday?

Good facilities in room and everything worked well. Even had a handbook on how to operate the tv, dvd player, air con system and microwave.

Front desk were ok, had my regular TG with me for the whole stay, so she was registered. They still checked that fact quite often. My feeling was that they were not entirely happy, I'm not saying they aren't girlfriendly, but some problems may be encountered. Just a feeling. Found out after a few days that my gf had slipped the maid a few hundred to report on any comings and goings when she was out. Little minx.

    Food was rubbish, even breakfast!

Very quite place, inside and out, lucky because my gf is a bit of a screamer.

No street food nearby but foodland 5 minutes away.

Some taxis had to be shown Soi 16!

Seems like they have a business clientelle.

I am not so keen on the location and while the place is ok, I wouldn't stay again if I was alone.

    Cheers

    Tuck

Pleased to confirm that the Dream is GF. No hassle with ID cards, or extra charges; also had 2 girls, no problem.

The only slight hiccup was that breakfast for the girl was extra because my room was booked only for single occupant. I think that this could be corrected by booking double occupancy given that the charge is the same for double as single, or perhaps simply by speaking to the front desk.

Very friendly hotel staff. The occasional hot topless guest at the pool (Dream 2 just behind the original Dream has the pool). Good location between Soi Cowboy and Nana. Cool lighting in the room. Impresses the girls.

Hard for taxis to find but the hotel has a little card with the address on it. No problem once I learned to say Sukhumvit Soi Sip Hah (Soi 15) and then tell the driver to keep going straight (throng pai) till we got to the hotel which is some distance down the soi from Sukhumvit.

    Overall would recommend.
Yes, this is a great hotel.---- lots of comfort, AC is great, internet great. Best botique hotel in lower Sukhumvit area.

Have to tell you about a great restaurant too on Soi 22, about 70m on the right up the soi.--- called High e-sarn. Many of you will recognize the owner who has been your freind for a long time. Food is GREAT. Help support her new enterprise!

    Patpong hotel

Will be in Bangkok for a few days and need a hotel in Patpong area. Cheaper the better. Like $30 and under. I was going tried to book the Wall Street Inn for $32 a night but rooms were unavailable For Feb 9.. 10 and I'll be there 9-13.

My current plan is to try out SOL (BJ Bar) and JC Infinity (Massage) and possibly Versailles (Massage). Saw picks and descrip of JC Infinity and it sounds just like Catherines so I wanted to try it out. Would I be able to just go there and find a cheapo place (I do not plan on bringing any girls to the room.)? I would also be willing to stay at Khao San Road and just taxi myself over if the taxi ride didn't cost too much. How much would that kind of taxi ride be? My budget is low so the Massage places alone are already pushing me pretty far.

Sooorry, this is a little off subject but Mr Enternational touched on this.

Mr Enternational. I have my clothes made for me in England and as Thailand is renowned for tailoring at a good price, what would you recommend?

    Where?

Howe much for a suit? shirt? (so i don't get ripped off)

How long do they take to make?

Do I pay up front (again, slightly worried about being ripped off)

Do I bring examples for homes (especially shirts) so they can see the things I like?

The pictures on the website are accurate. I think it is a pretty nice place, especially for the money. The only thing I do not like is the size of the rooms, which is actually not bad. But it kind of appears crowded with the size of the furniture. Maybe it is just I am used to the spaciousness of the Nana. Overall though, I am sure that Ever Rich would get more stars.

Sounds great. I'm there in March.

Staying in a Junior suite as it was only £20 a night more.

GF the better. First time, so don't want to be put off.

Officially, it is not guest friendly. I'm not sure how tough the management is in implimenting that policy, though. Maybe someone who has stayed there recently can answer.

    Everrich Inn:
I've stayed there for 1 night when the Majestic Suites was booked. It's as good as any of the < 1500 baht places other than the Majestic. I'd say it's pretty good, not great, but fine for 1-2 nights max. Anything longer and the room is too small and too spartan. But it's guest friendly, clean, and very well located. Certainly nowhere near as nice as the Dynasty Grande - not even close to the same class, but it's also half the price of the Dynasty Grande.

And of course, is it GF ?
