I'm just curious. Also, I would rather spend $50 a night as opposed to $80 for lodging and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on the Travelodge. Sure, it's a Travelodge but it looks decent enough. Does anyone know if it's girl friendly? I also like the Citadines set up as well. I would appreciate comments and suggestions. Thank you!
I think it is obvious that different guys like walking different amounts. The weather in Thailand can be not exactly nice enough to walk just 800 metres, whether heat or pouring with rain and deep puddles. Some guys are young and fit, some are obese so that stairs are impossible and 400 metres is a huge strain.

I had a buddy that walked a lot around Bangkok. He was slim but late sixties. At night he would be too tired out to be able to take a girl for a fuck. So what was the point of all that walking? Senseless in my view. One can get around by Motorcycle through back Sois, or Taxi, MRT, BTS. I sometimes do 10 minutes walk myself, but not in ugly conditions, and only if have nothing better to do.

Staying 400 metres down a Soi can be real nuisance for wasting time and needing to walk too much. Recently I stayed about 200 metres down a Soi. That is about my limit, and I prefer less. More than that is an inconvenience. Stepped in some deep water puddles. Hotel was not close to BTS either so would have to get a motorcycle to get to BTS or MRT.

Convenient location of a Hotel to transport, supermarket, food stalls, market etc. Can matter.

Personally, I think Citadines Soi 11 is a bit too deep down the Soi. I would give it a miss unless transport is available right outside. I once stayed Citadines on Soi 23 and hated it for hard beds, poor breakfast, the staff, and a bit too deep in the Soi. My Thai Mrs did not like it that much either. She loved Grand Millenium (now Pullman) nearby, with beds like sleeping on a cloud, and a fabulous breakfast. Ha ha. In a different class altogether. True I used to stay at Admiral Premier, quite deep in the Sois, but I am not adverse to catching a motorcycle.

Someone (maybe Whreman) recently wrote that some MPS in Soi 33 were too far down the Soi to make a visit viable, e.g. New massage, Dream Heaven, Akane, etc.

To go anywhere you usually need to go to Sukhumvit. Some of the hotels are a long walk. Soi 11 isn't walking friendly either. It doesn't bother me as most of the time I visit I am with someone but if you are going out a few times a day close to SUK is more convenient.

Mercure is of a higher standard than G Swiss but that walk down Soi 11 is getting to be too much for me. Mercure's free tuk tuk is seldom available when I need it. If I can get Mercure at a good price I will book the cheapest rate between the two but am willing to pay a little more for Mercure.

Another favourite of mine is Citadines on soi-11. A bit of a walk to Nana but a great apartment hotel with clean rooms and friendly staff.

Cost is B350 if not included. I had a larger room (not a suite), the Grand Premier. My only real grip is the choice of TV channels. I like to receive at least one American news channel Fox or CNN. This hotel had neither. Wifi was great, big walk in shower, comfortable bed that isn't the typical Thai hard bed. Clientele was a mix of European, Indian, Middle East. Would stay here again since it is an easy walk to the BTS (1 minute) and Nana (ten minutes).

Girlfriendly, near the BTS (I have tons of errands towards Northaburi, and in Thonburi, Lad Prao and my bank is in EmQuartier) up to 2500 B per night? I don't normally do hotels in BKK (absent a 5 star here and there) so excuse my ignorance and yes I have Agoda and no, I don't feel like splurging on the Oriental or Hyatt.

Okura Prestige is guest friendly like all the other hotels around that area. Anyway from my recent experiences in the Hyatt Regency and Sofitel Sukhumvit I can recommend these 2 hotels if you can stay in that area (soi 13 - soi 15). On this Youtube channel you can find some reviews https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4i...Ra9u6zTVnBzcsA.

I don't know the price at this period but normally studio rooms range from 1800 baht to 2200 bahts.

There's also the Best Western on soi 20 at 1800 bahts but Mermaid is better.
That's great. I was one to first recommend the Mermaid I think, so I agree, good if guys are okay with a smallish room and basic, but modern. However I think it might be Soi 29, not 19. Ha ha.

I have been going even cheaper lately, so for really low budget I liked Studio Asoke.

For more up market, I thought Column hotel was fab, but it is way above 2500 these days.

You can get great apartments for 2500 or less, and I have but will be further afield, like near Phra Khanong BTS as example.

Asoke Residence is quite good if don't mind being close to the khlong near Petchburi MRT, and still well under 2500 I think but can get larger room with kitchen.

Its very quiet there. Its a very quick motorcycle ride to get down to Sukhumvit.

You say not the Hyatt but the Hyatt Place in Soi 24 can be had for around 2,500. It's girl friendly and about 300 m from the BTS and EmQuartier. If you're a Hytt member you get a better rate.

    Heaven at 4 Hotel

Good looking rooms and a small hip hotel. Girls need to check-in their IDs. Stayed here for few days. Free breakfast and small bar at the front. You need walk through a small pathway through the bar and the lobby to get to the elevator. Never got a stare from the front desk, but felt uneasy taking girls through the bar and lobby every time.

    DI Place Hotel

Stayed at this short time hotel for a few days. From I understand they let out only 1 or 2 rooms for full day. Right in the center of the action if you want a cheap option. Around 30 $ per night. And no questions asked.

    The Key Premier Soi 7

Does anyone have any info about The Key Premier on Soi 7? Seems relatively new (still being constructed in Google Maps image from July 2018). It looks pretty good, ticks my boxes (particularly the poolside bar part), just wondering if anyone knew if it's bar girl friendly or has any intel?
