Much about Thai law regarding the legality or not of prostitution is vague, imo. For instance, I don't believe it is technically illegal to pay a woman for sexual services or for her to paid for such services (but it is illegal for someone else to live off the proceeds of prostitution; a pimp, a bar or a venue that provides rooms explicitly stated to be used for P4P activities). The exception being offering money to a girl 19 or younger for sex. I believe there is a Thai law against that, although, as I said, this is sometimes vague and worthy of debate. On the other hand, a hotel (and the cops) might not be interested in debating the issue.

I assume the idea is that if an adult woman needs money and is willing to exchange sex for it, that is her business. But offering money to a girl 19 or younger might be a case of too much "coercion", inducing her with a temptation too good to resist to do something she would not freely do otherwise. And that she is likely still under parental supervision and perhaps it is her parents who have put her up to it, relating to the other restriction on "living off the proceeds" of prostitution.
    Very good points.

Still have 18 YO girls needing to support their baby, possibly one or two parents of the girl, and possibly even younger sister's schooling, etc. These girls don't like to be discriminated against in terms of what types of work they are allowed to do. It's not always a case of being forced or coerced by someone. They have a baby and could have been fucking from a young age. In some cases girls have started work at some P4 P establishment, immediately after the appropriate birthday. My recent soapy girl at first said she had 4 years experience and now was 21 nearly 22. She then said she started at 18. I don't know which part was totally true. She could have moved to Emmanuelle from some dodgy place like Nataree, potentially.

What makes young girls want to be a hooker or accept money from guys ? Some categories come to mind:
    1. Single mother wants to support herself and baby. Very common.
    2. Girl supports Thai boy pimp. Also very common.
    3. Girls wants to be independent and likes to party and fuck with foreigners. Maybe rare but I know a girl definitely in this category.
    4. Girls on contract with a large debt to be paid.
    5. Girls not Thai (from very poor countries), possibly not educated, that cannot get any other work for money sufficient to live on.
    6. Lazy girls who want money to come easily without too much hard work. I include this, not in order to be judgemental. We all take the easiest most well paid jobs we can do. The manager of my apartment block does not work hard. Most of the time has nothing to do, but has to be there. Probably makes a lot less than hookers. The night guard works even less hard. Sleeps on the job or watches TV.

I prefer to be supporting girls of category 1, 3, 5, and 6 and not the other two, if I can know (not easy for new girls), regardless of the age.
Nataree was closed down due to points 4 and 5 combined with girls too young, and possibly tax evasion. So severe breeching of the rules.

We all need to take care to not accidentally breech rules that can be trouble, sometimes without knowing it. Hard when the rules are so wishy washy.

If you book a girl into the room you give her room privileges so she can charge things to the room and request a key. May not be a problem but be aware.

Embarrassing, immoral, and illegal. That is why I much prefer the hotel examine and hold their ID. Better for both parties really.

How would you know if the ID is fake or not? Do you know what year it is on the Thai calendar?

Has anybody stayed at Bliss Residence, Suk Soi 33, recently? Recommend? Girl friendly?

My email from them states 20+. I've read on a previous report way back that it's possible to use a different entrance to skip front desk. Anyone have 100% success using this entrance? Is there another hotel close that would allow 18 year old while still taking ID? Lady seems really nice, good English. But like to keep guard up seeing how I found her off Thai friendly. Any suggestions? What would you do?

You can go to Radisson Blu, very close to Terminal 21. They do not check the ID.

    18 year old Hotel

This is what I would do:

    (1) Check the girls ID to ensure she is indeed 18 years.

    (2) I have stayed at the Fourt Points. The Hotel Security is very passive. You should not have any problems.
When entering the lobby, walk with purpose and confidence. It helps, if girl is dressed appropriately i. e. not like a street hooker!

    (3) There is a side entrance into the Lobby.
I never used it myself. It is used by guests who want to take a short cut to Terminal 21. You can use it by yourself to see if it is convenient.

Let us know how it goes. Good Luck!

Better take a look at her ID to be sure if she's indeed 18. At both Hilton Sukhumvit and DoubleTree Sukhumvit there were no ID checks last year, none of the staff even bothered if or who I brought back as a joiner.

Ah sweet thanks! I agree about rules being broken, I guess it also depends on how you do it. If you're being discreet I have a feeling you could get away with it even if the hotel doesn't allow it. I mean they would hate to be in the position of accusing your girlfriend as being a prostitute. I've personally never tested this theory myself but I can imagine it could work.

This website claims W is guest friendly:

    http://www.gfriendlyhotels.com/guest...s-bangkok.html

I have stayed many Hotels in Sathorn and never had a problem, even if Hotel says late night visitors not welcome. My tactic when checking in is to say that my girlfriend will arrive much later.

I suspect I have avoided problems even when Hotel official policy maybe different. Maybe it is just I am not changing girls all the time and behave like she is my GF.

In Thailand rules are made to be broken. It's extremely rare to encounter a problem, however I do recall at Baiyoke Suites, having a problem, where security staff, wanted me to pay a joiner or pay a kickback to them to avoid the official one. Many years ago. So I keep the option open to check in a "girlfriend" some time later on, just in case, and very rarely have to use it. Once any problem occurs, it's time to shift Hotels.

Hotel Solo on Suk Soi 2 said my girl was too young to be allowed as a visitor (at 19) but did allow me to check her in as an official person staying in the room. About 4 or 5 years ago. Go figure! Silly rules. Otherwise I would have cancelled my stay at the Hotel immediately. No one should support Hotels that want joiner fees, when already booked for 2 persons. Does it actually happen? I don't know.

Some Hotels have ways to enter without going past the check in desk, but it is harder to avoid security. Once or twice I have been questioned at Hotel security when entering with my GF who was already checked in. Probably was Intra Regent and Rembrandt from memory. Probably because GF was 20 years younger.

The Pullman (ex Grand Millenium) was a hotel where could the back way and not pass the check in desk or any security to speak of. Probably Guest Friendly in any case.

Several years back booking.com claimed to know which Hotels were guest friendly. I have never actually asked though with them or at any Hotel. Bangkok Palace was the only family Hotel I ever stayed in accidentally, where bringing a girl was definitely not allowed. At least 15 years ago.

I don't have any information about this except to note the W only opened about four and a half years ago and some of the lists of guest-friendly hotels on the web tend to be based on surveys or information from years ago, maybe even before the W opened and established itself. Most, if not all, of the Starwood Hotels in Bangkok of which W is a member are guest friendly but there is no guarantee. You might want to shoot them an email and ask the question (it is one I am sure they have answered before so no need to be shy about it).

By the way, I would expect the hotel itself would be much better able to answer this question than a booking company, which likely does not track which hotels are guest-friendly and which are not.

    Muse

Is the Muse Langsaun girl friendly. What about the walk of shame? Which are the best 5 star hotels where one can avoid going through lobby and also preferably the ones where you don't have to come down to fetch your prize.
