I arrive in Bangkok next week and have booked an hotel for 4 nights.

What's the best way of making further booking for my stay of around 10 more nights?

I could of course use a comparison website eg Booking.com or is a walk up the best tactic for a good price.

Check Agoda and locktrip. I don't think the walk up strategy will get you a better price unless you are staying over a month.

If you have enough points stay at the Sheraton Grande. Closer to the action. Next door soi cowboy, therme, nana walkable, and asoke station is across street. They upgraded me to suite due to my status when I arrived.

I stayed there recently and really enjoyed the pool. Terrific breakfast buffet!

Can't go wrong with any of your choices, but I liked the Sheraton Four Points. Soi 15 is convenient to T21, BTS, & MRT and adjacent to Hooters and The Irish Pub which I visited.

The hotel has a high quality breakfast buffet too, although not as high class as the 5-star hotels. Service is quite efficient and friendly -- always greeted by the door staff.

A friend stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott last month which rebranded and remodeled in 2023. He said he preferred the odd side of Sukhumvit more.

Four points is good again after being refurbished, The Irish bar is good fun. Is the rooftop bar reopened?

I joined the Bonvoy group and book online. They have hotels in all price ranges.

Hotels are becoming pricey. I had booked a few around 1. 5-2 months back, found them a bit higher priced compared to my trip last year but still booked as refundable hoping it will get lower towards the end of March as the high season subsides.

Now when I check the prices they all have gone up by atleast 500 baht per night!

Agree. Stayed there couple of years ago. Also found the pool quite nice (altough small).

Its the kind of pool I liked after 5 mile walks. Great jets.

I agree I feel it's rare for hotels to ask for a deposit per day. By randomness I was looking for a hotel in Las Vegas the other night and my 4 star hotel that costs an arm and a leg wanted $100 US deposit per night, not per stay. I laughed and thought of this discussion when I saw it. I was going to book it for 14 nights so that would have meant a $1400 US deposit. I know you get the money back but seems ridiculous when I could stay 1 night and completely mess up the room for $100 as much as I could staying 14 nights.

Golden Gate downtown Negas does charge card $50 a night refundable deposit.

I'm not Brown BTW. LOL. Hahaha.

As I pointed out in another place, the Galleria 10 on soy 10 does not check Girl IDs or even pay attention. It's not a bad place for the money.

There seem to be different experiences here with deposits. I have never been asked to pay a deposit for each day that I was staying at a hotel. Not in Thailand, or anywhere else for that matter. I always have to pay only one deposit of 1000 or 2000 Baht for the whole stay.
