Posts: 24Just wondering if anyone has recent info on Majestic Suites as I am thinking of booking there in April?
I haven't stayed there since 2010, have the rooms been updated? If not are they old and tired and worth the money or would somewhere like Phachara be a better option although it is a bit more expensive?
How is the in room wifi?
Thanks in advance for any heads up.

This hotel worked out really well for me. If you are travelling with a SO / family, the hotel is located few walking minutes from the Sukhumvit Road, so your SO does not get any notion that you may have some nefarious ideas about visiting any shady places / service providers. There are only few head and foot massage places on this Soi managed by plain / old / ugly looking females. If you can get out for a short time to buy things, go for a walk etc. You can easily walk to Mango massage, or Soi Cowboy or hop on the Asoke train station and pursue your hobby for the time you have available.

Posts: 84I have stayed at Jasmine Executive Suites on my last 2 trips. I have a room book for early March if BKK does not blow up.
The Hotel is great. Very close to Soi Cowboy, MRT and BTS. I would go to Soi Cowboy each night and pick a girl for the night. The girls liked the hotel as well. I cannot say enough about its location.

Mermaid looks good and probably worth trying. Look up in tripadvisor.
If you edit your post, you can remove excess CRs.

I have just cancelled Citadines 23, where was I booked from this Thursday onward.
It was just too close to Asok for comfort.
So now I am looking at the following, all with Breakfast and Internet for around 1900 THB incl tax:
-Hotel Mermaid (soi 29)
-Amora NeoLuxe Suites (soi 31)
-Davinci Suites (soi 31)
-Admiral Suites (soi 22)
-Dubliner (the Pub) (soi 33/1)
If anyone has stayed at any of the mentioned places, please comment.
Also, any other recommendations would be welcome.
Thanks.
DS.
PS.
I don't know, why the moronic forum software inserts those extra CRs!

Posts: 12856Was looking for Hotels with Kitchenette for low cost per night. I normally used Admiral Premier but was sampling some cheaper options with the view to possible long term stay.
Grand President has a wotif secret special at the moment. Phachara is good but not to the rock bottom prices. Excellent for short to medium term.
The reason I want Kitchenette is simply to get best selection of natural healthier foods (with lowest chemicals added) , need to cook for myself. I have portable induction cooker less than 2 Kg. Can buy these cheaply at Big C with steel pots / pans to go with them. They are excellent. The problem with prepared and packaged food in Thailand (and anywhere else) is everything is packed with high sugar. One of the very most dangerous foods. Even orange juice has high sugar. Just an example. Naturally the once big belly has gone away when eat all my own food (low sugar/carbs). Takes little time to cut up vegs for a stir fry, cook everything and eat it. But I'm a weird guy who wants to have best health and least problems for my old age. Sex and laziness are my only vices. Ha Ha!
Both Privacy Suites and Bally Studios at end of Soi 20 were about 1500 per night. I tried Privacy Suites and was quite happy as had balcony, microwave, large fridge etc. But no DVD player, no breakfast. I cook my own Oats anyway.
Next I tried The Bedrooms Boutique on Soi 77 (On Nut) for about 1300 per night (without breakfast). Great rooms but no kitchenette and no microwave. Still could use my induction cooker but not ideal.
Now have moved to @Mind on Soi 85, with full kitchenette and Breakfast included for around 1300 or so per night. Next will try another serviced apartment nearby that I may take on a monthly basis for a much lower amount. Its about a 5 minute walk to BTS.
There are lots of Serviced Apartments available in Bangkok. Many won't be on all the big internet web sites.

Posts: 1749Huge discounts claimed now, if you dare go there:
"Meanwhile, hotels are offering discounts of up to 40 per cent, restaurants up to 30 per cent, and retail outlets, including those selling brand-name fashions, at all the shopping centres around Ratchaprasong are offering discounts of 80-90 per cent to boost sales."
"In happier times, hotels around Ratchaprasong, which have 4,000 rooms, enjoy an average occupancy rate of 89 per cent. It is now 30 per cent."

They have a 'Grand Sales' promotion starting now for a Deluxe King room for 2900++. Which is about even if one used Late Stays Mystery room at 3350 (I think). This promotion does throw in free internet. Least the promotion part says free internet. The room details indicates it is extra. But I think it is just their boiler plate room information.

Posts: 51Thinking about trying Jasmine City hotel. Laocation looks great, but I'm starting to get concerned about negative reports about Soi Cowboy. I guess what appeals to me about this place is the proximity to the trains and soi cowboy.

Appreciate the assist on HCMC, too. I guess there will be some time for other activities there.

But seriously now, you can get a nice serviced apartment in Sukhumvit Soi 85 On Nut (Gardenville Apartments) for 5600 Baht per week or 1000 Baht per day. Its not that close to the action but can take BTS to the action and taxi back late at night. You can get something really shitty for this price closer to the action. atMind on Soi 85 even better rooms for less than 1500 per night on Agoda. I did not calculate exactly once taxes added. That might be too high though for your budget.
Many bar girls live in On Nut, so they won't mind so much spending the night with you in On Nut. If they live somewhere else completely, they might not like to go there.
I don't expect HCMC to be too good for mongering. Its possible but much more difficult according to friends who know a lot. One guy on the forum lives Vietnam but still comes here for broader mongering, as he is limited in Vietnam.
In my mongering experience in Thailand, if in mongering mode I spend a lot more money on girls than on accommodation or food. So I also do not waste big money on posh 5 star hotels just to have a bed to lie in. However intend to take the girls to your room, it should be of reasonable clean standard.
