    Preference....

In that case, we will have to consider alternative. Is Tai-Pan Hotel a suitable hotel? Is is located near to the Asoke and Nana areas? Good soapie places nearby is a must.

Pricing is not a big issue as the guy who is about to "end his bachelorhood" days has given us the no-hold limit. We want to celebrate for him and may want to let him "go for it" until his legs shake (threesome, foursome,...who knows).

    Hope for some advice.

    Cheers

Tulips is easy to get to as it is right next to the Thonglor BTS station.

There will be 5 of us going and we planned to spend 4D/3N in Bangkok partying and getting laid. We planned to go in mid-October 2008.

If you are looking for GF friendly hotels which are in the price range of your two aforementioned hotels, then there is Majestic Suites, Dynasty, Nana Hotel, Grand President to name a few. Just read the hotel thread and there are some great recomenndations from the guys.

    Hotels and rates

Now if they would put a stop to their outrageous internet charge, they would be one of the even better deals in BKK.

I used to book on Agoda or Precision Reservations as I think they called themselves before.
Nowdays I found that they are adding a fee (which they prefer to name as tax) on their bookings.

Because of this I have for my recent and next trips changed to www.directrooms.com which I think have one of the cheapest rates. Very good service as well.

Look at www.majesticsuites.com/budget_hotel_bangkok.html . They quote between 1350 THB for 'Single Studio' and 2050 THB for 'Double Deluxe'.
Using www.oanda.com/convert/classic and adding the 2% CC foreign currency surcharge even the most expensive room should be under $63.
I am pretty sure, that the $12/day would have covered the broadband internet fee.
From a different POV: on a 5 days stay, you could have had a session at Nataree or Tulip for free!

He's talking about Majestic Suites not Majestic Grand which is the sister hotel. Majestic Suites shouldn't be more than $50 max.

Thanks horntoad and xerus. Majestic did email me and confirmed no joining fee, single or double. My needs are minimal so I will go single. I was just reading about annie's--it is right across the street? Sounds like a soapie is required almost daily--never had one before. Any other advice on what to do, where to go? Thanks for your help--will do some posts when I get there.

Majestic Suites are unique that you need only book a Single room. There will be no joiner fees at all.

Single rooms are quite small and have a Queen size 5ft bed, whereas Double rooms are larger and have a 6 Ft King Size bed.

You do get only 1 breakfast coupon though. Also they have free wifi starting 1 November, a welcomed addition.

Majestic Suites does not charge joiner fees. Very convenient if you plan to hit Nana Plaza as it is right around the corner. Only difference if you book a single vs. double is you get one breakfast and not two. Most hotels in this area are GF. A few are not and charge joiner fees are Ambassador, Zenith and Amari.

CitiChic is around a 400m walk to Sukhumvit or to the Biergarten. And the swimming pool is very small. Other than that, the place is great. If you're familiar with the location of the President Solitaire, it's right next door. The LeFenix is only about 100m closer to those strategic places, and I believe it is inferior to CitiChic, and certainly not as friendly.

Now that the Dynasty Grande has come down off of their jacked up 2800 baht rate from last year, I think it's a better choice than CitiChic, due to location and a better swimming pool. But they are both among the better choices, in the group of full service hotels that are a cut above the Majestic Suites/Dynasty Inn/Nana Hotel class of place.

    BKK Value Hotels

The Malaysia Hotel off Rama 1V , was OK but forget it now so try the REX Hotel on Sukhumvit Road near Soi 34 and the Skytrain. Anything around Nana has gone up in price and down in value.
