    Thanks Tansak. Appreciate the info.

Well, sometimes I am looking for a change. Nothing to do with budget. Well, on the other hand, the extra dough is good for an extra session.

Also, it is quite useful to have some database of info, in case a friend asks.

LL is quite excellent and have nothing but praise for it. But it has its pluses and minuses like any place.

And yes, I do not give a shit what people think, unless they are paying for my hotel.

I've never realized it but after looking I know I've pasted it many times. Web site has good description, old and new version are through this link http://www.suk11.com/

    From another site.....

    Bangkok Province
    Tel: (02) 253 5927
    Fax: (02) 253 5929

    Description
Comprised of a rambling collection of wooden and concrete buildings hidden down a Sukhumvit Soi 11 subsoi, Suk 11 is one of Bangkok's top backpacker guesthouses. Friendly English-speaking staff and comfortable, reasonably quiet rooms make this an ideal spot to relax in one of Bangkok's most vibrant areas. The rooms are clean, though basic and all rooms include breakfast. The common area and open-air cafe on the sub-soi are ideal for mingling with other guests. Reservations are usually required -- particularly in high season. Recommended.

    Suk 11?

    From an article in CNN.com

"......In Bangkok's prime residential area of Sukhumvit Road, one budget option is Suk 11, a quirky guesthouse legendary among backpackers, where the halls have been remade with creaking wooden planks and hanging lanterns to look like old Bangkok alleyways. A bed in a clean, air-conditioned dorm room starts at 250 baht (US$7.50)........."

Anybody know exactly where this is, or stayed there? Just curious.

I've stayed here. Nice place - 2 skytrain stops to Nana, or the Chitlom Branch of Akane is just around the corner. I spent a few visits there and was very satisfied.

I'm assuming you picked it, because you frequent Patpong. They have another location backend of Sukhumvit Soi 20.

So there you go they said no joiner fee if booked for 2 adults...
Thanks so much for clearing this up in great detail.
I hate the wishy washy terminology of "girl friendly".

I ALWAYS book a Double for two regardless of my intentions. So i would have little or no trouble at Tai Pan it seems. However I would probably prefer Livingstone's Lodge because its only 5 mins to Soi Cowboy by taxi through the back Sois. Its even walkable distance in good weather (almost 1 km) and I need the exercise.

Very informative and well done. I personally prefer it when a hotel asks the girl to leave her ID at the front desk. In other countries, some hotels even call up if she spot her leaving your room. That's 'service'....IMHO
