Updated some of the hotel lists and added some recent reviews. It's the detailed reviews by ISG members, that really make this thread great, so those answering the GF, location, restaurant, service, internet access, room safe, and other similar questions, thanks again!
As always, if someone catches a mistake or has something to add, just post it and I will update my notes for future posting.

Booked in night before last. After my last stay, this has become my favourite.
Most places were closed last night due to Buddist Holiday, LL was alive and well despite low season. The rains dampened things a bit, but most stayed on and the eating area by the pool was quite full for most of the evening.
I recommend this place for both the first timer and the veteran.

If she says its near then its near. But not near in my opinion. However its probably 5 stops on the BTS (skytrain) from 'Siam Square' to 'Saphan Taksin' so maybe that is O.K.
I think Astera is going to be close to the Sathorn Bridge over the Chaopraya River.
I wouldn't stay there personally but each has their own requirements and I don't really know the location.
Giving facts is easy but opinions are just opinions.
In the end, think about what things you want to be near to when she is at Siam Square. Most of us mongers would rather be in Sukhumwit not too far from some action.
Majestic Suites would be my pick, in your shoes, although they get heavily booked.
On this Map:
http://maps.google.com.au/maps/ms?hl...,0.066175&z=14
Siam BTS Station should be right in the middle.
Saphan Taksin (Astera area) is in the bottom left corner.
If you can't think of any good reasons to change your mind, then stick to Astera.
If you REALLY won't have any time away from her, then just stay where pleases her and in that case you don't need any advice from me.

Posts: 143Mac Boutique Suites (Suk Soi 7)
Had decided to stay here when at last minute found CitiChic and Dynasty Grand to be full. Looked nice on the web. Getting here was a bit of an issue initally as is down a ways on Soi 7 which is one way. Some construction accross the street and generally in a dark part of the Soi (its a 1-2 minute walk down from the beer garden); though fairly convenient if you want to pick from there (I didn't go in) or if you pick street walkers/FLs (there was a pack of three potential jalbait (yet very hot) options last night as I walked back. My experience with the young and the moody/pouty kind of girls led me to shirk away, though I could have been proven wrong. Very tempting.
They don't charge a joiner fee or anything as such, I had called a girl over from Love Teen whom I had had a good time with the night I got in, when she arrived they phoned up from the front desk and escorted her to my room, as the hotel is a bit more family oriented. The lobby etc. Are very nice; the rooms though a bit small are appointed ok and the bathroom also small, but ok. Serve a decent breakfast. I had booked a smart suite for 2600 a night, on check in they told me had been upgraded to a Junior Suite on the 8th (top) floor.
What I didn't know was that this is smack dab in the heart of what may be little middleeast/india! In fact when I was getting dropped from the airport I think I passed a street (on Soi 5) which was named middle east street. The hotel also caters specifically to a middle east/muslim crowd. Which if, you are coming from the middle east, is not so much fun. I mean I just left a land of Abaya wearing women and pushy arabs! Though up the street a bit is a tony romas and you can get a full slab of baby backs, which I hadn't had in years!
All in all, not a bad hotel, was not very crowded at all, though, close to most of the action, either way you have to walk to get to any hotel so the walk down soi 7 not so much an issue (though at night its not that well lit as is upto Beer Garden, so if you are walking back with a SW or other WG, maybe an issue? ); It's a ten/fifteen minute walk to Darlings or Annies; five minutes (probably) to Eden and fairly close to NEP; though next time I will try CitiChic or Dynasty Grande.

Hi, I will be visiting Bangkok first week of August. I am there to fuck an old lover of mine and not THAT (probably I am fully occupied) interested at sight seeing or action.
I am looking for hotels that cost about USD40-50 per night, are there any you guys would recomend? My lover works near the Siam Square, so she says it would be best to be near there. So far, I am going for
Astera Sathorn hotel Bangkok
The Astera Sathorn hotel was previously known as Sathorn Villa.
Address : 481 South Sathorn Road, Yannawa, Bangkok
My friend will be staying with me. So, yeah, don't think I have time to go around, unless she allows.
Any info/recomendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PS: I saw recomendation of asiatravel.com at the Thailand FAQ. IS it safe/reliable to book from them? thanks.
