Before I made my first trip to Bangkok/Pattaya three years back, I went on a couple of Thailand forums to get suggestions on hotels. What I found is that the Nana Hotel is basic at best but they have the best location because they are across from Nana Plaza and their parking lot is a gathering place a ton of lovely working girls. So I booked the Majestic Suites around the corner and less then 200 yards from the Nana Plaza entrance and the Nana hotel parking lot. The Majestic Suites has very nice rooms and they all have double, queen or king size beds. No singles and you get a basic free breakfast when you stay there. They are girl friendly and they collect the girls ID card at the front desk before you go upstairs with your girl. I would suggest staying at the Majestic Suites because it a lot nicer then the Nana Hotel. Just my opinion as the Majestic is the hotel I've stayed in when in Bangkok.

My question is this. I see the standard room listed for 1290 B per night. What type of bed does that get me, a single? I want to make sure I get a double or queen size bed at least. I plan on having a guest for an evening or two and want to make sure we're both comfortable and have enough space. I don't want two seperate beds, as I'm looking forward to snuggling with those sweet Thai cuties. When I reserver my room do I need to get a superior or deluxe instead in order to get the bed size that I want?

I see that Nana Hotel is guest friendly, but even though they are "friendly" is there still a joiner fee? What's the protocol for bringing a guest in, do they have to leave their ID at the desk?

Sorry if some of these questions have been asked before. I'm still sifting through past posts.

I never stayed at the Nana but once met another forum member in his room there. His room was also a standard one and the bed was queen size. All you got to do is to add a comment that you don't accept a twin (two seperate beds) when making the reservation. You can send them a mail and ask for confirmation, print it out and show it to them at Check-In in case of any probs.

Rooms are really just basic and don't look nice at all, a shitty dump IMHO, but if you want a room in prime location close to the action it may fit your needs.

The hotel is girl friendly and all they ask for is the ID of your guests which will be returned as soon as they leave. This is for your own security, they call you when the girl leaves alone to make sure everything is ok.

Used to take my overnight sex excercises there, for 1.000 Baht, when I was staying on the other side of the river, Marriott Royal gardens riverside, and didn't want my crew to know about it. I was married at that time.

Its an old one. Used to be well maintained, clean and always girl friendly. Have elevator ok, very small coffee shop next to reception but with room service.

Front rooms are bigger with a sofa.

Not a bad choice if you are on a budget although it must be more expensive now.

it was for 1 bedroom for 30 days booked thru internet. studios are very nice also and i met walk ins who paid 2400 for studio including a very good breakfast. they are part of compass group (grand president, pres solitaire, pres park) the hotel was very girl friendly and clean. rojos is restaurant downstairs. its ok! pricey. they have a small pool on 16th floor.
located on soi 8 is ideal 200 yards from suk, 50 yards to [CodeWord900]!!!

only complaint might be the ac is a bit loud in some rooms. not mine! but did here some complaints.

citichic is a part of majestic family? i beleive. you cant beat the hotels ran by that family. ms and mg. just didnt like where its located down deep in the soi

i'm in the suites now, i have a one bedroom apartment, seperate living room and such. it's strange, we have full kitchen but no pots or pans, no knives, etc... not like i'm cooking or anything but we have cabinets with no shelves, we have no tissue anywhere in the suite, they have two medicine cabinets in the bath but no shelves in them, it's just like it isn't completed yet etc... my price is about the same as your price but for the one bedroom apartment, girl friendly but i not see many mongers, many european elderly couples actually and some families. internet is free, breakfast is ok, no newspaper in the morning, free printing at the front desk, do have computers to use in lobby if you want, etc... but seems sterile to me. they are very girl friendly however, i had friends of the girl i am with over at late hours and during day and they had full run of the place no problem.

my room's air con is fine, but it's strange place, i'll review it later when i have more time but the location, aviva massage, lolitta's, nana bts you can almost spit on, etc... i've got two weeks here so we'll see, but so far i perfer somerset by chidlom if you have to go serviced apartment and it really isn't as friendly as other boutique hotels like giotto's place, i can't find the right words for it so i'll just call it sterile for now. but i don't cruise nana parking lot either and i perfer other mp's so the location to mongering doesn't do much for me.

In early December, I could only get a Platinum Suite at the President Solitaire for two nights, so I switched to CitiChic (about two minutes' walk from PS if you go the back way). Stayed at CitiChic for four nights.
Here's the Web site for the CitiChic Hotel for more detailed info, prices and reservations. For comparison, here's the Web site for the Majestic Suites. I paid 2,500 baht a night at CitiChic for a Double Deluxe room with a small terrace. The same-sized room without terrace is 2,300 baht/night. The CitiChic only has those two types of rooms and the price includes breakfast for two. The MS has four types of rooms, ranging in price from 1,315 baht to 2,050 baht/night. The difference has to do with the size of the room, whether it has a bath tub and whether you get one or two breakfast coupons.
My room didn't have a bath tub, only a shower, but that might have been because it was a corner room on the ground floor, therefore with a bit smaller bathroom. I booked at the last minute and CitiChic was pretty full at the beginning of December, so I didn't argue the point.

Does anyone know the GF situation at the Park Hotel across from Soi 7 Biergarten? What are their nightly rates these days?

What about the Swiss Park Hotel in Soi 11?

Another I've stayed at in the past is Honey Hotel, soi 19.

Or if anyone has other ideas of a decent place in this price range (800-1900 or so), I'd love to hear it. I seriously doubt there's anything acceptable for as little as 800 these days, so probably toward the high end of that spectrum is better.

I once made the mistake of staying at the Miami, so I want to avoid a place like that -- dirty, seedy, old, run down, tv not working well enough to actually watch it, AC barely working, etc.

The Park across BG7 is worst run down hotel. In the budget you are looking there a pretty clean & decent hotel Everrichinn, between soi5 & 7, near the Indian resturant. It is pretty clean GF, no fancy resturants but basic wetern & thai food is avaiable.

I liked the location, But chose to stay at the Adelphi suites on soi 8. Very nice for the same rate excluding Breakfast, This Brand new hotel is great and very GF.

The key let me know they were 1 guest at a time no problem, 2nd was a charge!

Well, certainly the Adelphi suites on Soi 8 would be a GREAT deal at 2000 baht/nt. The best rate that they offerred me was 2800/nt in early December, which is why I ended up at the CitiChic for 2300.

L'Opera is one of the best Italian restaurants in Bangkok. It has authentic Italian cuisine, but not 'cucina' style but more the established upper class business style. Dress well if you go there.

You usually need to call and reserve a table before you go there, otherwise you will have to wait for at least one hour. If somebody needs the phone number - PM.

If I remember correctly, there are actually two restaurants, they share the same kitchen, same salad bar but separated by a wall and w/ two different entrances:

1. More upscale, white linen table cloth, nice wine list, nice 'candlelight'...I go there with my business clients.
2. More 'family' style, with red checker table cloth, brighter lights....I visit here with my 'friends'

Both are good.

I saw it from the taxi when returning from Bangkok Cozy through the back Sois. So I'll give it try soon.

It is located in Soi 39, half way through when you come from Sukhumvit, in a corner building. The road turns left there.

From Soi 33 (Livingstone's) you walk up the road and turn right at the end. After 300 m. you find the restaurant on the right hand side.

You usually need to call and reserve a table before you go there, otherwise you will have to wait for at least one hour. If somebody needs the phone number - PM.

It's an 8-10 minute walk from the CitiChic to Sukhumvit and the Nana BTS stop.

I did the same - IMHO,the Dynasty Grande is now at least 2680 vs 2300 for the CitiChic - but the Dynasty has a MUCH better pool and somewhat better workout room. Rooms are comparable, but the CitiChic is trendier - breakfast is included at the CitiChic, not the Dynasty Grande, and the CitiChic has free internet PCs in the lobby.

8-10 mins ain't that bad. can't beat the Dynasty Grande thou. CitiChic is free internet I guess.Well I guess I'll check out this trip. don't use much of the pool and gym. Dynasty should take care of their regular guest by giving preferential rates but they don't seem to be able to do that.

The other is Key Hotel which interest me. I may walk over there and check that out as well.
