I'm hopefully going to Bangkok in a couple of weeks so I will see for myself what is happening in the hundreds of hostels, and perhaps why they are not mentioned this forum. Seems dumb I have to go out there like I'm ISG's Christopher Columbus discovering uncharted lands and peoples when we have dozens of Bangkok residents here that know and see the hostels every day.
Pretty demanding for a new poster, long time lurker. Please report your findings of the new territory and contribute something.

I received a response to my email to them. They said they are guest friendly with no additional costs. I just booked four nights for $28/ night including taxes and service fees.

I'm planning to book a hotel too (chic friendly off course)

I'm travelling to Thailand too. On Mar. 10. Let me know if you come across any good hotel deal.

I think he is having a lend. I doubt any Thai girl would go back for a shag at a hostel with other people sharing the room. Whilst there are plenty of P4 P girls on the scene in BKK the reality is that Thais are generally pretty conservative.

How come there is barely a mention on ISG of the hostels in Bangkok? There are many of them and many class themselves as 'adult' so I would conjecture they are used by mongers. Yet here we don't write about them. Is there a reason for this? I would think they have an appeal to cheap mongering and also those who like sex in semi-public places. Please give any knowledge you have on them. Or perhaps its a generally known rule, no sex allowed in Bangkok hostels?

    Anyone? Thanks.
No info posted because everyone wants to keep it a secret for themselves. Hostels are nothing but free orgy houses.

I also paid around $70 as well, as I got a discounted room. That is a better rate for that hotel. Yes, I like the location but I still prefer the Dynasty Grande and the Majestic Grande (soon to be renamed). The Novotel does not seem capable to accommodate large crowds, lobby always busy, suitcases all over the place, bused parked outside all day picking / dropping the hordes of group tourists from China / India.

After about 20 stays over 10+ years (at different times of the year) and the same result I would say it has gotten beyond lucky. I think the Nana Hotel is just a casual throwback type place, with no mega corporate chain policies to adhere to.

I will say I have always booked my reservations thru the hotel website, and my stays are lengthy at 2-4 weeks per.

In Europe, you get just enough real estate to move around, at reasonable local pricing.

The setup was fairly similar in the Bangkok location, except for the price. It was a bit high, at close to $100 per night. The room was small, with enough space for 1 person to move around. The same story with the small bathroom. You add one more person and you've got a crowd. The hotel had a high tower, with close to 25 floors served by 3 slow elevators. Hence, there was quite a bit of wait for the lift to show up. The room was sparsely furnished. Since I was at the end of my trip and I was staying for just 2 nights, it did not bother me. There was no hair dryer in my room, but they told me they can send one to my room, no thanks. They did have decent French food at reasonable prices, especially their lunch buffet. Access to the hotel is fairly easy, via soi 6, and one can avoid the crowded soi Nana. I also stayed several times in the past at the Dynasty Grande and the Majestic Grande, and I thought they offered better value.

FWIW they do allow a late checkout (normal time is 14:00 hrs) up to 20:00 hrs for 50% of the daily rate. Convenient for those midnight departures from BKK.

I have arrived very early and the Ambassador Hotel allows you to check in at 06:00 am for 1000 baht. A little pricy but it works. That is a Tower room on a high floor.

Then you pay the booked price considering that you did book the room ahead of time. Hotels.com is a good site.
