Last night I read an online blog that described the Thai dek sideline scene. Delved into it more and discovered there is a whole monger parallel universe out there.

There are Thai sites that for a small joining fee give access to hundreds of the real beautiful young Chiang Mai girls advertising their services and there are also hundreds of these girls openly advertising on facebook. There are youngish women advertising on dating sites for older Farang men, the most famous being Thai Friendly, but of course these are only going to be the small minority that can read, write and understand some basic English whereas the majority of dek sideline girls will not speak, read and write English language, plus most of the these young women on dating sites will be looking for mugs to sponsor them long term and rarely do they go short time except for silly sums of money. What this amounts to is that we may share the same spaces but are living in totally different worlds and in their world they are running a full blown operation for available young Thai pussy. I have a big problem on these forums, that is I can only come across as negative because regarding the Chiang Mai commercial monger scene there is nothing positive to mention, so all I can do is apologise for that.

What you are referring to is what we used to call, the bored housewives club. They were 3 daytime brothels all next to each other. They were great, there used to be a whole group of us meet there on regular occasions. 60 baht for a large bottle of Chang beer and 300 baht for a girl, no hurried service. Sometimes I would take 2 girls when I was feeling particularly randy. The place was a complete dump, filthy and rough but we loved it and had the times of our lives there. I can remember after we finished in the huts with the girls us lads would compare together how well the girls performed. It still puts a smile on my face when I think back about those times.

But sadly those lady houses have long gone. At one time a karaoke bar opened in it's place, but think that's gone now as well and later another cheap brothel opened just a ways down in the location but believe that was levelled a couple of years a go. There is I believe still 1 cheap and nasty brothel left in Chiang Mai, somewhere around the back of the Neimann area. Go into Google search and type in Chiang Mai Locator. Then click on male entertainment in Chiang Mai. Details of the brothel are listed on there. But I have heard reports that this place is not Farang friendly, so it's really just a case of visiting and see how things work out.

Well if I follow the link you give us, this closure is not so old and due to building project. Nothing to do with yellow shirt VS red shirt theory.

Maybe like in others towns, these places has been simply relocated somewhere else in Chiang Mai.

I went into the male entertainment section of the Chiang Mai Locator website to see what was available.

I found the Anime Kawaii Shop and decided to give it a try. I went there and considered it as being the best of the worst. Details given on; CML are:

I choose a girl and she led me into the body scrub room, which is basically just a plain old shower room and a bed covered with a plastic waterproof sheet in the centre of the room. You strip off, lay on the bed, but unfortunately the girl keeps her clothes on during the whole process. She then fills a plastic dustbin with warm warmer from a shower spray hose. Then she takes a plastic type saucepan and pours water over you from the bin, followed by her using an old cloth with a type of scouring powder on the cloth and rubs it over your body, followed by more water, followed by more scrubbing and this process goes on for 30 minutes.

After the body scrub you dry off with a towel and the girl takes you upstairs to a massage room. You strip off and lie down on a floor mattress. Then the oil massage begins. Later the girl gives 2 options. A HJ for an extra 500 baht or a HJ with the girl naked for an extra 1000 baht, which mean the full monty will set you back 1600 baht. I always choose the girl naked option, couldn't resist it. But even when the girl is naked it's still very inhibited; touch her tits OK but no feely feely ass or pussy and FS a definite no, no. Also don't expect a proper professional massage, it's really just a relax rub over with hands. After the deed was done, paid the girl her 1000 baht so-called tip then paid the 600 baht menu service at the counter, said my goodbyes and went on my merry way.

The shop it's self is a dump that is counteracted by the girls being young and pretty. What I did like is that the prices are set from the start, no haggling, you know what you're getting and for how much, but in actually this is by no means a brothel, only a glorified HJ parlour.

Route description: Just across from the YMCA. From the north-western corner of the moat, take Hussadhisawee Road up north and take the first soi on the left, which is Sermsuk road. Not sure Arthur tick can answer, since he told us in one his November post he hasn t been to low end places since 6 years and has no intention to come back.

Celeb at CNX massage. This place is on Charoen Prathet Rd opp the the Soi 6 junction or opp and a bit south of Pornping Hotel. Fishbowl girls (1600 b) and sideline girls (1800 b). I took a pretty sideline girl and I guess she was one of the stars since the service was quite perfunctory.

Bar next to Celeb at CNX– can't remember the name of the bar but there were 8-9 very pretty hostesses here. On New Year's eve met up with a friend in town and decided to have a few drinks, see in the New Year together and get a couple of girls to round off the night. I haven't seen this friend for 7 years and during that period we had a wow of a time in Chiang Mai New Years Eve 2009, bargirls literally throwing themselves at us. I thought this being new years eve there should be no problems in obtaining available girls considering the large numbers of tourists visiting for the occasion, I really believed they would be out in force.

Last night we first visited a bar in LK. It was crowded with mostly young couples and back packers, blaring loud music, couldn't hear ourselves think, no seats available, it was a crush standing inside and only a very girls were there that seemed to be hired by a beer company to promote the sales of beer. After one drink in there, had enough. All the bars seemed to be the same, young couples, back packers and very few girls.

Then at about 9. 45 pm we visited the Star Six bar. Business is now so bad that customers have no need to pay an entrance fee anymore; they can just walk directly into the bar. We went in and I was shocked. Appears the bar has been made smaller, still has the stage at the centre but only a little space around that with a few stools. There were 2 girls prancing around on stage and only 2 girls sitting in the bar area. No customers, not one, only me and my friend. Then literally within seconds of us sitting down the 2 girls pounced on us and then the 2 girls who were on stage joined us. An hour later 5 Chinese looking men walked in and a lone Australian guy I got chatting with and that was about it. Unlike back in the old days these girls were fully dressed, one even wearing a jacket saying she felt cold. We had a couple of drinks and felt obliged to buy the girls drinks; it was a hustle by those girls. They had 1 girl do a shower show on the stage but she was fully dressed, way too tame and I commented on that, more or less saying; this is crap. I asked one girl who targeted me; how much to go out short time? She quoted me, 2500 baht for short time plus 600 baht bar fine. I told her to forget it. Then she dropped to 2000 baht plus 600 baht bar fine. I still said; too much but she refused to budge on her price. I would have been willing to pay 1500 baht plus the 600 baht bar fine for short time. So I left it. While there had a chat with the mamasan. She told me that business is so slack that she doesn't know for how much longer the bar can remain open. This is now typical of the few remaining bars in the Loi Kroh Road and surrounding area.

Then at midnight we stood near the Tapae Gate for the countdown to 2017. Hundreds of tourists almost climbing over each other in a tightly packed area launching the balloons. After that was completed it was like someone had fired a starting pistol for everything to close. Instantly the shutters on the bars, massage parlors and restaurants began to come down. With still hundreds of tourists milling about they all began to disperse. The very few bars that did remain open were again packed to the hilt with young tourists but still very few girls.

About 12.20 am my friend and I decided there was no point in hanging around and we went our separate ways. I went for a Burger King and after that walked around looking for some action, but by then most of it was closed, no street girls, even the Spotlight and Spicy were closed. It seemed some bars were only open for privileged customers but to all the rest the doors were closed. Most of what I saw was a few freaky, creepy looking ladyboys standing in the shadows looking for business. So I gave up and went home. Celebrating the new year in town was really about going out drinking with a bunch of mates, definitely not much in the mongering department available and I certainly won't be bothering to do the same next year.

For the bar scene, an App replacement is just not going to work. The whole point of being in a bar, is to watch several girls concurrently, scantily clad, if clad at all, and decide if 1 in 40 appeals. In normal circumstances I would agree with you but we are dealing with the Chiang Mai scene here and want to make clear I go along with everything Oliver says; he makes a lot of sense, but there are too many complications involved.

Bar venues with scantily clad or completely naked desirable girls are limited in Chiang Mai, in fact I don't think there are any at all, except for the handful of bars in the Loi Kroh Road which in my opinion the women are the bitter end and it's all extremely tame. The 3 main bars, Foxy Lady, Spotlight and the Star Six, that these days never have naked girls on display or in shows, are total rip-offs and still very tame compared with the bar scene in Bangkok and Pattaya. If anyone knows of any bars or other places in Chiang Mai that has desirable scantily clad or naked girls up for grabs, then PM me and as a Christmas present I will meet you there and pay for the whole evening.

Smooci is just a fast track escort booking system that probably operates with the blessings of the police and is irrelevant to this thread because like so many of these services, not available in Chiang Mai, so it's pointless even mentioning it.

An app system does operate in Chiang Mai but these are strictly Thai orientated mostly used by what are known as sideliner girls. The reason I believe women are not using this method in Chiang Mai for the service of Farangs is because they fear the police will clamp down and arrest them for openly offering sexual services either by app or online. This is because they would be operating outside the scope of the big business escort agencies that are run by gangs and the police behind the scenes, or in other words, the competition would be bad for business. I guarantee that if someone created an app service with available girls for sex, all would be arrested and shut down within 6 months. Similar has taken place in Colombo, Sri Lanka, whereas so called high class prostitutes are allowed to operate in the big 5 star hotels, but the cheap backstreet brothels were all raided and shut down by the police.

Regarding the dating sites, I again agree with Oliver. For the guys who are already in relationships don't particularly want their details and photos online for the whole world to see. Also pulling women on those sites is pot luck, could end up taking weeks to get a fuck from one of those women or not at all or maybe lucky and score first time, it's like a lottery and certainly not ideal. There are freelancer sites online, Backpage and craigslist, but Backpage does not cover Chiang Mai and the Chiang Mai section of criagslist is less than useless.
