Thanks to Natty Bumpo and Member #2041 for confirming that CM may be quiet as a punting destination but is not dead.

I'm wondering about the attitude of hotels to punting in CM, which sounds a relatively conservative place. Are there ST hotels? And / or are conventional hotels generally girl-friendly?

Most grateful for any thoughts.

My favorite place in Chiang Mai to stay is the Raming Lodge. It's a nice 2-3* hotel located right near most of the lady bars on Loi Kroh Road. It's guest friendly as well.

Some say CM is dead for mongers. Others say not really.

It depends on what your definition of dead is. Although I would not recommend going to CM solely for its nightlife, if you find yourself in Chiang Mai for other, mainly tourist reasons, then there is no reason why you will not have a good time there. Your best bet is to walk down Loi Kroh Road from the Taphae Gate towards the night market. Most of the open air hostess bars are located in the first two blocks on your left. I wouldn't say there are lots of pretty girls, but there are some lookers and they are very friendly. When I was last there I also went to Foxy Lady Go Go near the D2 hotel. Again nothing like Pattaya or Cowboy; they had around 7 girls not including the mamasan, but a good time was definitely had.

I like CM for the great food, be sure to go to Khun Chern restaurant at Nimmanhaemin Road Soi 17, and its proximity to the Pai, Soppong, Mae Hong Son circuit. This is a great bike trip and should take at least 6 days to do it well. I really dug Mae Hong Son. It is a great little provincial town even though I did not get laid there. Inthanon NP is very beautiful as well.

Lots of Thai people believe that the nicest looking ladies in their country come from Chiang Mai. I have been there several times. In general the people are more friendly, the ladies do look nice and there is a friendly country side atmosphere. Surely worth a visit.

I will be in Chiangmai for Loy Krathong 8. 11 November staying at Rainforest Boutique Hotel. I was going to take a DIA girl from BKK there but I haven't met her yet. From her pictures (we've been emailing) she looks quite nice, sexy, busty slim, just like I like. However, if this option does not pan out what is the likelihood of meeting a similar girl in CM? I read a few pages back in this thread and the reviews are mixed. Some say CM is dead for mongers. Others say not really.

Are the girls even friendlier during Loy Krathong? Maybe I will get lucky. What do you think? Thanks for any replies and happy hunting.

Chiang Mai is not dead for mongers, it's just not as good as Bangkok or Pattaya. But it's better than 99% of the rest of the world excluding major mongering destinations in Thailand, Phils, or Indonesia, or Brazil.

The fact is, there are several bars with ladies at the end of Loi Kroh Road near the Taphae Gate, there is an entertainment plaza around the Middle of Loi Kroh road near the Imperial Mae Ping hotel that has Muy Thai boxing and a few lady bars (also a couple of lady-boy bars, so beware) , and there are a couple of brothels near Nimanhaeman Road, and there are a couple of soapies, including Sakura.

Basically, I wouldn't go to Chiang Mai for mongering, but I would go there for tourism or other reasons, and still be comforted by knowing that there are mongering opportunities to be found there in addition to the more typical touristic fare.

I will be in town next week, arriving on Sunday. Not sure how long I will stay yet. From reading forum it sounds dire. So unless I am pleasantly surprised I will just visit the parks and temples and then move on. Is anyone else around next week?

You shouldn't pay more than 1000- Baht for the right Side. And many from the 1500-Baht will not go with Foreigner.

For me Sayuri is better, but far from my Condo.

Arrived about midday and already booked into Raming lodge. Good hotel, GF and close to all I wanted. This hotel is on Loi Kroh st to which there are many small restaurants and bars. Spent the afternoon getting my bearings. After a top meal walked to the night markets to check out massage places. There are a few but all have happy endings but not much else.

Then back to Loi Kroh back towards town centre a little soi to the left has a few bars with girls. Only average so went further down past Raming lodge and found 5 or 6 bars, all with girls. All still only 6's and 7's but after a few drinks left with one. 300bt bar fine and 100 all night. Sessions that night and then an early morning session and she left at 8. 00 am.

Tourist things the next day and then early dinner and to a bar 200metres from hotel and met another seven. As it was early I had a couple of drinks with lady. Barfined her at 8. 30 and went to my hotel for a couple of lively sessions before a sleep. A good performer waking up early asking me for more. Everything was on the menu for both nights and even though the quality was not Bangkok well worth the price of 1000bt plus 300bt for bar.

I'll be back in Chiang Mai for my 3rd visit in the past year. I'll also be spending time in Bangkok and Pattaya so I'll have plenty of opportunity for fun and won't mind the more laid back Chiang Mai scene. But reading here it sounds like it might be even slower than before!

I had good luck at Spotlight last time with a lady who wasn't a looker but was an All Star in bed, a true freak. Also, I had a great time at a massage place between the Shangri-La and the Night Market with a great masseuse who gave FS extras that were outstanding. I hope to repeat with both.

Also, last trip we visited the Muay Thai fights and there was a knockout huge breasted girl at one of the bars inside who I couldn't do because I was with business colleagues. I am thinking of going back just to see if she is still there.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my visit. I always have fun there even though it's a shadow of what it was 10 or even 5 years ago. I'll report back when I get there.

In the meantime, any tips would be appreciated although I plan to do the Loi Kroh, Spotlight, Foxy Lady scene mostly.

You have pretty much covered everything except Spicies for the freelancers and bar girls who have finished their shift.

Its pretty quiet here no (very). Seems to me a lot more katoeys making their way down Loi Kroh earlier in the night then usual competing for the dollar as well.

Some very nice plain drinking bars are struggling to make a quid.

Still love the place though. But your best bet for catch and release is Loh Kroh near the moat or the boxing bars as far as selection goes.

I was at the Nimmanhaeman places yesterday. There is only one place that is in business, at soi 13. Cost is 750 baht, but there did not seem to be very many ladies. I chose one and she was a gamer but not really that pretty.

I think the better suggestion is to go to the nearby chiangmai hill hotel massage parlor. 1300 for ladies on the right, and 1500 for the younger ones on the left. Much better selection.

I'm in Chiang Mai for a few days visiting some friends. Had a massage today and thought I should give a quick trip report.

I'm not too familiar with Chiang Mai, so I can't give you the street name but the massage place was on the same street as the big Gecko book store. It's called Yo's Massage.

When we first got there I was going to turn around. Only because I hate places where you are separated from other people by only a curtain. But they saw what I was concerned about and told me that they have 1 (one) private room. Ok. Fine for me. My friend only wanted a foot massage so it wasn't a problem. If he had wanted the full oil massage we would have had to go somewhere else.

The woman that gave me the massage told me after that she was 50 years old. She didn't look 50 but she wasn't pretty either. She also wasn't very good at massage.

Now, myself: I love a happy ending, but I'm also there for a good massage. I didn't get one. It wasn't the worst massage I've had. I would rate it as below-average.

Ok. So, besides that. The ending was awesome. By the end of the massage I was fully hard and she started rubbing. She asked "OK?" I said "Of course!"

Awesome HJ and didn't ask me about any money. After I'd finished, she cleaned me up and then gently played with my balls while we talked for a few minutes. She still hadn't asked me for money. I'm not sure. But I think she would have been happy if I'd only paid the 200B for the massage.

I gave her 300B as a tip and she was surprised and happy.

Bottom line. Massage wasn't great, she wasn't pretty (she's a close your eyes girl) , HJ was awesome, service was great.

I thought before, that LE in Chiang Mai was not interested in anything that was not happening in public. Still I never mentioned names and places last year, just wrote how somebody like me, who does not like the bar scene, can possibly find nice female company once in a while, in other ways. I have been away for one year, things may have changed. Recently I heard some rumours, so I am not so sure anymore. Maybe I better delay my reports for now.
