Welcome, Zen, and again congrats on your site. I wish I could manage to get my hobbies to pay for themselves! Places like yours and this one are truly invaluable to new travelers -- I know that I've learned tons about various places I've visited, and was thrilled to see Jackson revive things here, as the old WSG was invaluable when I was a newbie.

I understand what you mean about rich guys; I'm far from one, but I'm not completely a bargain hunter either. Nice and easy, that's me :-)

If you'd like a couple of extremely simple and cheap suggestions on protecting your site just let me know, as it's pretty easy to put some basic stuff up that will keep out all but the truly determined.

a bit of a post script...
guys who can afford pussy at $200 a shot do not need a guide, web site or anything. And I have no hard feelings about them (I love rich guys...too bad I am not one). I do try to help the poorer working class type guys have a good time...
PPS...I do like posting to different sites and glad one of my buckaroos turned me onto this one. the people at ********** suck...after 350 postings and writing numerous articles...they decided to pull my banner...guess I wasnt' bending over far enough for them to b*tt f**k me
anyway...I shall return here to offer what little knowledge I can...
and hopefully find some like minds

I would like to explain a bit about my site. First: The site on a good month breaks even...at best. I am not talking about the money spent on research etc. just to maintain it...servers...etc.
It was NEVER my intention to make money from it and I don't ...except on the rare occasion when I do a video for armchair travelers. I was a former photographer of nudes for the Men's magazines and now earn a modest living (here in Jomtien where I am now residing) selling my slides to collectors on ebay.
I cannot afford to set up the cgi scripts that would be needed to protect from amateur hackers. YES, I am aware that the site is easy to crack. Hopefully the persons who do so are decent enough as the ones speaking here not to pass around the info. If my bandwidth would get tooo high I would have to shut down.
It is not really much of a sex traveler site...It is just a bit of advice on how one can travel throughout SEAsia seeing manysites and find a local native girl to keep him warm at nights. To do this Buckaroos need to have brass balls (former Viet Vets like myself have no problem with this). In many places one has to acquire tastes for some very ethnic (euphemism for ugly) looking women.
The site is a hobby and a chance for me to find likewise MEN who share the same philosophy that I do. Many find my philosophy not to their liking and reject it. No problem from me. FEW know that I was the first to start reports on Cambodia and Svay Pak in 1993. The word is out and there are so many tourists (damn place has gotten just too safe for me) that I really donot enjoy it much. I am discovering some new areas that will not be posted....
long time Buckaroos who understand the philosophy will find them though. By doing the adventures that I will soon be recommending, they will find new treasures like Svay Pak...but there will be many places that will not suit the average guy. REAL Buckaroos do not mind if a place does not have the most beautiful women, because they go for the adventure. and they willcontinue trying my little jaunts. Others will find them a wild goose chase and give up before the real treasures are revealed. Smart readers will probably learn more about the posters here than about my site. In any case I do thank the Buckaroos who patronize the site with their dues for membership. Long time Buckaroos realize that they are often rewarded with things I do that far outweigh the costs of their small member fees.
For all of you, whether you are a member of Zen's Buckaroos or not I wish the best of traveling for great adventures and hope you keep smart and remain safe.

Glad to hear it, MondaysChilde -- I've got no problem with people making money offering the wisdom of their experience, and Zen's got a nice site; I wish him the best.

I'm more or less with you -- while I'm not interested in radically overpaying, my sympathies are with those TGs trying to make a living, and I feel no need to bargain for every last baht. I'm more into a quality evperience than issues of quantity or price, and I'd rather both parties be happy in all aspects :-) The cheap and fairly sordid scenes such as K-11 hold no great appeal to me -- been there and done that.

But Freeler's right -- it *is* pretty simple to figure out how to get into Zen's site. After seeing his message, I took one obvious shot and was in. So it would behoove him to repair that.

Hey Freeler, thanks for the alert that Zen's site has an open gate. I'll be sure to e-mail him and he'll fix the problem.

I hung out with Zen in Northern Thailand in 2000. He is a world-class pussy hound who knows a lot of places. I think he basically lives to fuck. He speaks Thai and his favorite haunts are Chiang Mai, Bangkok and Phnom Penh.

His specialty is paying the least amount of $$\baht to get laid. This didn't really appeal to me, as I will pay $200 for an orgy in a karaoke joint b/c I like quality. Zen goe straight for the bargains. Needless to say, his favorite zone is K-11.

I don't disagree with your approach, and I did some similar scouting around the first time I went over, which is my approach any time I go anywhere new. I've just found that the information here and in other sites (it's pretty easy to get a pile of Thailand scene bookmarks) are very good, especially since Thailand is an extremely tourist-friendly place, and info is all over the net. I found most of the info on the zenbuckaroo free pages pretty much the same as I've seen elsewhere, which is why I hesitated shelling out any money. All the stops mentioned are pretty much the basic ones that everyone knows about, and there's info about them in various places. I wasn't in any way implying the site is a ripoff, and it sounds the opposite, since you've rejoined it and are still happy with it, which implies things have been updated. The bottom line is that thirty bucks is not all that much (pretty much what I paid last trip for a night in a suite) and if it saves you hassle then it's worth it. I just travel a lot, and rather enjoy the online research side of things, so I'm pretty used to tracking things down myself. But keep in mind that there are a great bunch of knowledgeable guys here and on some of the other sites, and tons of good info in the archives.

So, have you figured out your itinerary yet? I'd be happy to share any bookmarks I've got for places you're looking to go.

I don't know how much travel you''ve done, so forgive me if I'm stating something you alread know, but I'll give you one piece of advice. I'm always amazed by when watching people travel, both in Thailand and elsewhere, how careless and open they are with their wallets. Particularly Americans. You've got to be careful, particularly in crowded places, as there are some very good and aggressive pickpockets out there, and what you're carrying can be months and months worth of money for them. On Sukhimvit in Bangkok I once had a katooey get some cash out of my front pants pocket during a five second attempt at hustling me, while I was brushing him/her off. The only other time in my life I've had someone pick my pocket, though it's been tried a number of times, was once in Times Square, and I wasn't paying attention and deserved it.

Personally, when travelling in the third world, I never carry a standard wallet. I carry any credit cards or passport stuff or excess money in something beneath my shirt or around my waist or strapped to my ankle, and I carry walking cash in two pockets, in front, and at least one of which buttons or zips. That way if you're ripped off or picked you only lose an affordable amount. And I leave any more money than I'm going to need in a safe at my hotel. If nothing else, this can also make for some nice bargaining equity with vendors, as you can pull out your sorry wad of walk-around cash (presuming that's the case) as a way of getting into a take-it or leave-it transaction. That can be useful in places like Chiang Mai's night market (just to end up back on topic :-)

Thanks again for the feedback and the site!

    Hi joe_zop,
Having never been to LOS, I know You are much more informed about Thailand than I.
That being said, I hesitated joining Zen's site for about a year, then last year I decided, what the hell, I gotta go to Thailand soon and I need to know more about it in detail. THe site presents itself better than other sites and maybe it isn't a rip off....So I joined. Unfortunately shortly after joining, my mother got cancer and well, you know, I had things to take care of here at home and could not venture to LOS. I am planning on going over this year and in prep, rejoined Zen's site since the information was/is extremely useful (for me being a novice). The link is www.zenbuckaroo.com .
Perhaps you may find the "free pages" helpful, as I know I did.
    Good Luck!

    Joe_zop,
I have no first hand experience in Thailand,- doing my research as well on a trip to Thailand later this year.
There is a pay site called www.zenbuckaroo.com where great information on Thailand can be had. Zen lives in Chaing Mai and has numerous articles on the "fun" and accomodations in Chaing Mai. It is not as dead as one would think, but by no means like Bangkok, according to reports on that site.
It is a very low fee for three months membership considering the value of information on Thailand and other asian spots presented.
Zen will answer all your questions for you if you become a member. Strongly recommend it.
    THanks

    Longer-term accomodations

Since this lonely area doesn't yet have anything going on, I figure I'll start it out with a question -- does anyone know anything about longer-term lodging options in Chiang Mai that are clean, air-conditioned, secure? (And, of course, girl-friendly, though I'm presuming most will be in this area.) I'm looking to make the area kind of a home base on my trip this fall, and will be looking to rent on a montly basis (at least two and possibly three months.) I'm not terribly worried about price, as the most expensive things I see are still ridiculously cheap; I'm more after the right kind of place, something I can basically make my home, and with decent facilities -- a pool and gym would be a plus. A two-bedroom apartment would be ideal, or some kind of suite with kitchen facilities.

I've found some options at http://www.chiangmai-online.com, but I really don't know anything about those options other than that. Anybody have any experience or contacts they can offer?
