Been here for a some days but only roamed around the bar life a few times as other things are the main purpose for the trip.

Seems that all bars if moving around Wiset Rd and Soi Saiyuan is open, though very few visitors and girls in the smaller ones. I checked out Laguna Plaza Thursday around 9. 30 Pm and it looked empty. Left for dinner and come back at 11 Pm and total different view. Lots of visitors and girls. The last bar in the complex, Pleasure Dome, seems still be the best, Though, one of the most good looking girls, a real stunner, I have seen in Thailand was playing pool at the second bar in Laguna (don't remeber the name of the bar), already taken of course. Also looked quite good at the first 2 bars "north" of Laguna at the same side of Wiset Rd.

Bank Bar at Soi Saiyuan was also crowded yesterday (Saturday).

Rawai has picked up quit a lot since last time I was here, but prices the same. Around 1000-1500ST and 1500-2000 LT, and LT is LT not only 4-6 hrs.

Oh, forgot, a beer 80-100B, Lady drink 140-180B

Wrapping up my 9 day stay here. Its so awesome to get FS in the massage joints and be back chillen in your hotel room, 3-6 minutes later. Its almost surreal.

A few notes to pass along.

I met ladies all over. I noticed the ones that "fell in love" where rather hard to get them to leave my hotel. They can be clingy. Play your cards wisely.

Hello massage girls were the most fun but also shorted me on the "hour". Be sure to discuss no condom BJ during the flip on the massage. Some wanted covered and that was a pain to translate after you get going.

The lady drinks vary from place to place. For the higher places that charged 250 baht, the women will get about 100 baht. You can also just give them 100 baht instead of buying them watered down crappy drinks. #cheapcharlieadvice.

I really enjoyed the OTOP bar area more than Bangla.

Don't underestimate Tai Pan nightclub as a last place to pick up a cutie. Quite a few freelancers in there after midnight.

High end hotel recommendation: Holiday Inn resort-Busakorn Villa. The hotel is pretty lax with security but they can be there if you need them. Super quiet hotel area but still close to the action.

This is my backyard, and I run a scuba diving business here in Phuket.
What dates are you coming?
Visibility in December is good everywhere.
Richelieu and Tachai, together with Bon, can be done on a short 3 D2 N liveaboard leaving / returning to Phuket by van.
Hin Muang / Daeng and Koh Haa can also be done by short liveaboards, 3 D2 N if the dates align.
Currently there is a trip 16-18 December.

My main conern was visibility. Glad to hear it should be ok in December.

Shark point and Racha Noi is worthwhile. But you should probably do a live-aboard and head up to Similan for what you want. The ones you listed outside Lanta might not be optimal during this time.

Short Similans trips starting in Phuket are best for time short visitors.

They can start every day of the week, for 2, 3, 4 or more nights.

Also, there is a monthly 3 D2 N Koh Haa, Hin Munag / Daeng trip that leaves Phuket and sleeps overnight on Phi Phi.

As well as once a week speedboat trip from Phuket to Koh Haa.

Koh Phi Phi, Shark Point, and KingCruiser as well as Koh Racha Noi and SouthTip are great dive trips.

But they have vet low chances of seeing big things.

Similans at Koh Bon and Tachai Pinnacle are seeing mantas every day.

- Hin Daeng / Hin Muang / Koh Haa.

Did dive several times during last few years but visibility was always bad.

Will come back in Phuket area in December. Did not book any diving yet.

Any tip where / when I should go to improve the chance of good visibility? Mainly looking for big fish.

Any other diving spot around Phuket you would suggest (I did dive the Koh Phi Phi spots already).

Big fish right now is Tachai / Bon, with mantas being seen every dive this last week.

Richelieu and Tachai, together with Bon, can be done on a short 3 D2 N liveaboard leaving / returning to Phuket by van.

Longer liveaboards are also available.

Hin Muang / Daeng and Koh Haa can also be done by short liveaboards, 3 D2 N if the dates align.

Currently there is a trip 16-18 December.

There is also great day trips 3 dives, Rachas, KingCruiser wreck / Shark point, and Phi Phi available.

As well as world class muck beach diving at Kata Reef.

I'm currently in the middle of planning my trip to Thailand. Do you recommend to spend some days in Phuket or Pattaya instead? I heard Phuket is a more relaxed vibe, while Pattaya is a more of a Vegas scene. How accurate is that?

For a first visit, why wouldn't you go to both? There are many flights and hotels so no need to commit to a predefined timeline. Just go to one, stay until you would like a change, then fly to the other. Beware that both can be addictive.

- Went to Rockhard's Crazy Girls. Rockhard was my favorite go-go during my first trip, more than 20 years ago. But now, most of the girls weren't cute. Couple were average / decent. It seems to be more of lap dance bar. After you buy the girls a drink, or give them a tip, some will jump on top of you, inviting you to fondle them. Not many girls, and the girls weren't cute.

Yeah Rockhard opened lunchtime so perfect to cool down after beach with AC. I think it started to decline when the old owner sold.
