Tho you're well off the beaten track for tourists as you're talking about Phuket Town, not Phuket more broadly.

This area has never been much of a hot spot for other than Asian expats, and even then it's never been inexpensive.

There are plenty of FS massage places open freely elsewhere, such as in Patong, Kata, Rawai and Chalong.

Whilst the going price of 1500฿ is cheaper than Patong which is 2000฿, it's the same as Kata at 1500฿, but higher than Rawai which has many on offer for 1300฿ all up (300฿ to shop, 1000฿ to lady).

Well said. I think people fail to understand that when someone says "damn I had a great time with the girls in Phuket" they don't really mean Phuket proper (Phuket town). In short, it's not very good right now. The majority of FS massage parlours are at Phoonpon Road. But here's the thing. They are lying low as they don't want to be blamed for any new spike in cases. So the massage parlours will usually keep their lights off, and the place will look deserted. What you need to do is keep an eye out for local thai guys loitering around the entrance or on the road and strike up a conversation to see if (1) they are the pimp and (2) they have massage available. Only then will they bring you in, turn on the lights and bring the girls out.

At least 1 massage parlour on Phoonpon Road is open. TubTim Escorts. The quality is not amazing. About 7 girls with quality of about 4/10 - 6/10. Price is cheap though at 1500 THB for 1 hour FS. The taxi drivers tell me that New Angel Massage should be open but I have not checked that out yet..

Separately, I am getting taxi drivers to see if they can find any other available FS massage locations. If you are 50, a retirement visa is the most common solution.

If you are not 50 then a volunteer visa is a possible solution. You would need a visa agent to organise this for you. Shop around as the cost is 40,000 to 60,000 per year. You do not do any volunteering.

Coming into Phuket again since the new years and since the new rules about 9 pm drinking. How has this effected phuket?

Your local consulate issues the visa (or 'pass' or whatever they're doing today), and it's their particular interpretation of the rules you have to meet.

Just so nobody gets confused, the Thailand Pass and the Thailand Visa are two different things. The pass is needed by everybody to get into Thailand. The Visa is different depending on your origin, for USA people you only need the visa if you arrange to stay longer than 30 days.

All your paperwork for Thailand Visa and Thailand Pass can be done online, but there is a fair amount of preparation such as reserving your hotel, picture of your passport, picture of you, getting your COVID insurance, and getting your airline reservation. All of it is simple stuff, but it will take some time.

If cases drop just as fast as they have risen, you may find that the 1 day Test and Go schemes get reinstated sometime in March or April.

Unless you absolutely need to get into Thailand for a specific date you could hold off for the moment and wait and see what developes as your intended dates get closer.

The end of January is the on the ground forecast of when cases will have dropped back down by.

And for those who haven't twigged to it, the true case numbers (at least in Phuket) are probably 10 times the published numbers.

Most people with it are isolating at home, tho there is a large "farang" contingent that is out there anyway and not giving a fuck about it, many of them even with it, as its just a cold isn't it.
