OK, given last night's debacle, I went to the nuru place today with the idea that I was assured to have a lady on top of me at some point.

I got there and there were only 3 girls available. Two were in their early 40's I imagine, and the 3rd came in at the last second looking annoyed and like she hated the look of me. That would be true in a different year, but not right now. Other than bangla and the beach road near and south of bangla there isn't much happening in Patong, P4P or otherwise.

I just got here and haven't checked out rawai so can't say what its like there at the moment.

I checked Austrian Garden, are-Mar Hotel and some others, and I ended up booking Austrian Garden for my stay, will be there mid October. I emailed them and they confirmed no joiner fees, they just need to check girls' card to check they're fully vaccinated. I assume most girls in Puket are vaccinated at the moment?

I was lucky enough to get my COE just on time for the reduced 7 days Sandbox, but I might end up extending my stay in Phuket beyond those 7 days anyway.

Where's more action at the moment, is it better in Patong or Rawai? I mean in terms of street freelancers, massage places, TF girls, bars open, etc? I've heard people saying Bangla Road bars will be back opened on Oct 1, after the police raid last week, anyone heard anything about this? Either way I'm thinking to rent a car or take a Grab to Rawai to checkout the area.

Also, anyone knows if short time rooms are still running in Patong and Rawai? If I go down to Rawai, I'd rather use a short time room instead of taking the girl all the way up to Patong with me in a taxi.

I think you made a good choice with the Austrian Gardens. I'm sure the others are good, but I think the AG was just so ridiculously relaxed about things that I can't imagine any place would be better. One thing I forgot to mention is the use of the pool after hours. I came home one night really late and I was just hot and I wished I could get in the pool. When I walked past the guy who's on "duty" out in the restaurant / reception area, I asked him if I was quiet could I use the pool. He said no problem. When I walked past the pool on the way to my room, I saw the German guys next door were also in the pool with some ladies. So I think as long as you ask nicely and respect the noise thing, you can probably use the pool whenever you want. I think that's a huge bonus because I am much more likely to want to get in the pool at 1 am than at 1 pm. And if you have a girl LT and you arrange it ahead of time, you could ask her to bring her bathing suit. A post-sex swim to cool off is pretty awesome.

And just to further illustrate how open the joiner thing is, the German guys had girls in their room or visiting almost every night. They would spend most of the evening "partying" with them outside their rooms. Bangla Road bars and entertainment venues are not allowed to open yet.

But as of today, October 1st, restaurants across Phuket can serve alcohol again, and are allowed live music / bands until 10 pm at night.

BTW, most Bangla Road bars reinvented themselves as restaurants already.

Next question is harder.

Patong vs Rawai.

No easy answer, as they are quite different.

Patong is alive, electric, hard core and in your face sex availability.

If you want that 24 hour feeling, go there.

Rawai, is just as alive, with just as good quality and quantity of gilrs and bars to meet them at.

But, its more laidback and subtle still for the most part, which means quite often you will meet shyer, less experienced girls, and younger girls there (late teens).

Its also spread out more, but still easy to get around by bike / car.

It doesn't have that in your face 24 hour feel.

And generally, the girls are a cheaper price in Rawai than Patong.

There are enough short time rooms open in Rawai.

The Rawai Condotel for one at 500 B, and what I call the Chalong Love Hotel, near Chalong Circle, for 400 B.

For this one, think circular bed, mood coloured lighting, and mirrors on every wall and above the bed!

I think there would also be in Patong, and the girls there would know them well.

So its quite the opposite with us. Usually me an my wife are always on the backpackers trail. Visiting remote areas and living in the most basic accommodations. But this time, we have had a hard past couple of years. And since it seems we are pretty limited to HKT as of now, the Mrs. (and me) would not mind something a little more upmarket. But with the SHA+ requirement, anything that I'm liking is strangely expensive. I mean I can book at the niharn, but I don't see the value at the price.

Do I want to be picky between Niharn and Rawai? Or they are both close enough and equally great? Also, I have 0 experience with condotels or codos of any type? Are they similar to hotels or more like stand alone self service apartments? They advertise pools and all but are they well kept and functional or mostly serve the purpose of landscaping? Do the guests use them regularly?

There is this place called the Title condotel and it seems to be getting decent reviews?

If the beach is what you want to get to easy easy easy, then pick Naiharn to stay.

That means morning walks, twilight walks, or daytime swims and lay in the sun.

As its a 5-10 minute travel by car or bike to get to Naihran Beach from Rawai.

But if its more everything else that you want, restaurants, entertainment, then pick Rawai, it is 5 times better for that than Naiharn.

As to Title, its a great beachfront location, and lets you walk to restaurants.

The others around Rawai are also great but they're mostly back away from the water.

But this time, we have had a hard past couple of years. And since it seems we are pretty limited to HKT as of now, the Mrs. (and me) would not mind something a little more upmarket. But with the SHA+ requirement, anything that I'm liking is strangely expensive. I mean I can book at the niharn, but I don't see the value at the price.

Do I want to be picky between Niharn and Rawai? Or they are both close enough and equally great? Also, I have 0 experience with condotels or codos of any type? Are they similar to hotels or more like stand alone self service apartments? They advertise pools and all but are they well kept and functional or mostly serve the purpose of landscaping? Do the guests use them regularly?

Sorry, I wish I could help you more, but I don't know the answer to your questions. I can tell you my condo is a stand alone place and there is no maid service. I got it through AirBNB. I suspect there are all kids of places though.

I'm staying in Chalong. In retrospect, I wish I had stayed in Rawai. I like taking walks and it's really not very pleasant here because of the traffic and lack of sidewalks in many places. In Rawai, I could have walked to the beach. Chalong has its advantages, but I would have done Rawai if I could do it again.

When I came to Thailand with family, we had to stay in nicer hotels and resorts and it could be pricey, but coming by myself this time is a real reminder of how cheap Thailand can be if you just let it be cheap. I spend $5-6 dollars a day on food, for example, and mostly walk everywhere. If I was still in China, I would eat out once a week and that would be 4 days food here. I would take a taxi to and from the grocery store there once a week and that would be another day's food in Thailand. Then junk food and other costs I've cut out here and I'm pretty much spending less per day here than living in Beijing where my housing was covered for free.

The extra costs are a pain, but I looked at it like everything else was cheaper and that made up for it. My condo is $9 a night. It's small, but it has a little couch and tv, a small kitchen with 2-person table, and a separate bedroom and bath. I would think the resorts are also cheaper now, maybe enough to make up most of the test and insurance costs?

I forget the exact cost, but I think I remember it being around $220 for the 3 tests total. It's not insignificant.

So this happened last night. I got a Line message from someone requesting that I add them. It looked like some professional guy in the little pic, so I thought it was the realtor I gave my Line ID to. I add him and open it to find that it is not the realtor. I look at a couple of the pics and I can see it's some guy with the girl I met at sweetie's bar and hung out with a few times (no sex). I was planning to see her when I got back to Patong. I knew she had an ex-boyfriend, so I was pretty put off to be messaged by some girl's ex, especially with my line of work and family situation.

So I sent the girl I met a quick message asking what was up and letting her know I would need to drop her. She tells me it's her boyfriend and it's because she gave him her old phone and the Line IDs were still on it. I am now thinking she is BSing me because 1) she told me she was seeing a woman and didn't have a boyfriend, and 2) why would he need to add my ID by phone number if my ID was already on her phone. So I point out those two things and say I have to block her, but then she says the guy in the picture is actually her GF and she is a tomboy. And that the phone sent an add request to her entire list of friends and customers. I didn't know what to believe at that point, so I just blocked them both. I figured it was safer that way, though I think I believe her after the messages and a closer inspection of his pics. She kept saying, "I promise you it's OK."

I think I was a little on edge with the Thai girl thing because I'm 99% sure one girl was recording our conversation the other day. She acted like it was an accident, but.

Smart move, end it and move on.
