I know Karon is a more family friendly area- but I'm wondering if it's a crazy idea to walk into one of those little pharmacies and pick up Viagra or one of its imitations? I know anything goes in Patong, but I didn't know about Karon. Any ideas? Place looks more " legit" than other parts of Phuket, so I wasn't sure.

Local pharmacies all have generic Viagra, just go in and ask. Don't go to 7/11, Boots or Watson pharmacies, they don't have it. The generic is cheap, 4 pills for 350 thb.

Its very dangerous hiring scooters / motor bikes in Phuket. I did it but I have ridden bikes for years. You need eyes in the back of your head. If you read the Thai expat forums, its just filled with info about motor bike crashes and expats getting wiped out. Also you will come across a lot of road blocks, asking to see your licence and fines for no helmet. If I was going to Phuket for short holiday and wanted to get about I would hire a car.

Not a fan of mopeds personally. Seen a few accidents in rainy season and it's not ideal if it chucks it down anyway, for obvious reasons. Taxis are expensive. I don't like Patong personally but I go there once every couple of weeks or so for some fun if my regular isn't around. I stay in Bangtao and always hire a car. It is expensive compared to a moped but still much cheaper than taxis if you need transport every day, which I do. Plus you don't get rained on.

Essentially it is about cost vs convenience. Yes taxis are expensive. If you are paying 2- 300 baht for a 10 min taxi ride one way every time you want to go somewhere it makes selecting your location more important. I like Patong because it is big and has variety, you can select a wide range of accommodations, the beach is close, Jung Ceylon provides dining, shopping, entertainments, plenty of bars and plenty of tourist agents if you want to do some excursions. Its depends what you want to do when you are not chasing skirt.

A few tips on Phuket. The slow season or rainy season April-August has very few tourists, getting out of Patong is the smart thing to do if price is important. The many small towns From Sarin Beach to Kata Karon are loaded with bars and girls, and empty of customers.

Kamala Beach is one, many bars with ladies from Isan that are sitting bored of playing pool and talking to the same expats that also stay during the slow months. The pickings are easy and the price is a good offer, 1000 is ok. Bar fines are 500 before 10:00 pm and 300 after. All takers are overnight unless you want them to leave.

These ladies live in a sponsored room paid by the Bar. 10 ladies is normal to a room or small house.

I live in Laguna and Kamala is a 15 minute drive. Very few LB's. A couple of bars but that's all.

In the high season after August the Euros start to arrive and competition heats up. Also the price doubles. The girls hold out for 2500, but will accept 2000..

Google says the average monthly wage in Thailand is under 200, so it's probably not a bad deal for the girls.

That is a stupid fact (if true) and possibly includes villagers who have no salary and hunt and fish for food or tend the rice farm, or sell stuff at a market, or includes waitresses. As others pointed out all the arithmetic was shot as well.

If a bargirl makes 125 K Baht per month, she is doing very well. A small percentage make that. If she makes it in a week, she is getting rich fast. Naturally someone else is getting rich on the money too.

Find yourself a fab bargirl or MP girl and take her away for a week of fun (try a weekend first to be sure). Will cost far less. Find out how much a good girl really needs to make to feel relaxed and enjoy herself.

The good season for Phuket is December to February. After that can get a bit too hot. I see little point to go in the rainy season. Go when it is at its best. There is plenty of mongering but not good enough to drag me there by itself. A bit overly touristy in Patong Beech, so other options are possible. In fact I got bored with Phuket years ago but good to do it at least once. Better than Samui in my opinion.

Samui good season is different to Phuket as on gulf of Thailand side with different weather. The beauty of beeches on Samui is not there in December as mirky water is still flowing down the streams and fouling the ocean. Don't go to Samui till at least late January in my opinion, and Feb to March should be good.

Unfortunately tourist web sites don't tell you when is the best season and when the weather is really bad, in my experience. For some islands, it is really critical to know the beautiful and calm seas time of year. Koh Samet can have all the beeches fouled by floating blossoms or similar debris from trees at the wrong time of year. Still okay To snorkel further out from a boat. Consult with experts on the right time to go there.

So as exciting as Bangla Road seems at first, you realize it's a joke. Hustlers everywhere selling sex shows, LB shows, Ping Pong shows and of course the FL's in the street. If you look on Thai friendly Phuket, their all looking for customers. Patong rates are very high. And the music is deafening.

The only month to miss in Phuket is September. Even for rainy season standards it is wet that month. The rest of the time you should be ok.

The short answer is I don't know!

A 7 day holiday with 2 girls is 175,000. With one girl it's 125,000. So 7,142.86 Baht per day? You typically stay in a bigger villa if you have two girls than if you have one, so I don't think 100% of the cost is for the girl.

Using the Euro prices it works out at 183.57 per day. Google says the average monthly wage in Thailand is under 200, so it's probably not a bad deal for the girls.

That works out at 3,580 Euro or 511 Euro (578 USD) per night.

Not a great deal I would say, even if you don't mind paying for some "luxury". The villa must be bloody fantastic.

What the guy was referring too is price as the girls in Phuket are usually a bit pricier than Pattaya but for my mind Patong has much more variety of things to do if you aren't just going to a bar or chasing women.

Book a room in central Patong so if you go out and it rains you don't need to go far to return. Get girl, take her to your room.

I don't think Phuket is the LT destination it used to be. 8 years ago a FL would be happy with 1000 THB if she liked you. Only escort place I frequented and constantly read good about is Katherines. Pricerier but that would be my bet unless you go to the clubs and look for FL.
