Phuket Report – Day 2.

This is my first of two full days in Phuket. It is Monday morning as I start writing this and hard to believe that I will be leaving tomorrow, but no need to be sad since my destination will be Pattaya!

Anyway, I Sept. Until about 9 AM then pulled myself out of bed. I needed to get some laundry done so after dressing and I headed out to find a laundry place. They are not hard to find. I dropped a plastic bag full of laundry off with the promise if would be ready the next morning. I then returned to my hotel to find two maids cleaning up my room. I had left a 40 Bhat tip and they thanked me for that. Both spoke some English and we exchanged pleasantries. They were pretty cool and very happy.

I grabbed my camera to go to the beach for some photos. The beach was fairly crowded. Lots of people were getting parasail rides and there were plenty of beach umbrellas up. Lots of Europeans, including a couple of pretty topless sunbathers, and plenty of Chinese. I walked the full length of the beach to the south, and much of way all to the north. The weather was quite warm and very humid.

The walking was taking a toll on my feet and ankles so I decided it was time to get a massage. But where should I go. There are MPs every 50 feet here is seems here, but Christin's was on my list as I have never had a body slide massage. I walked down to the place, which is easy to find with the huge pink sign out front. You walk inside then you have to go up a flight of stairs, then you turn to the left and there is the "fish bowl". Later in the evening it started pouring. I slept through it, but the rain stopped around 8 PM I guess, and I pulled myself out of bed at 9:30 and headed over the BR. For a Sunday night, it was hopping, though it did start to clear out by midnight.

Let me interject here that every Thai hotel I have stayed at has these devices by the door where you insert your room key. It can be an electronic, credit-card sized key with a slot, or it can be a magnetic dongle or whatever attached to a key. In either case, you insert the card or the dongle into a slot, and that allows power to be applied to the room. If you leave the room, you pull out your card / dongle and after a minute power gets cut, and that means your AC goes off. So, if it is hot outside and you leave your room for any period of time, it will get hot and humid and when you return, it will take a while for the room to cool down, and then it may be hours before the moisture is removed. I understand this is a power saver, but it is a bummer. I like to leave and return many times during the day, so this is a headache to me. So, for this trip I came prepared. I noticed last time that the dongles contained a magnet, so this time I brought a good, thin magnet with me, attached with tape to a popsicle stick. When I leave the room (after the maids have cleaned), I insert the magnet and when I return, my room is cool and dehumidified!

Sorry, but when Aleen and I returned, we returned to a nice, cool room. We strip down, took a shower and moved to the bed. Phuket Report, Day 1.

I managed to get back to Thailand again – my second trip there, with my first just 6 months ago. I submitted a detailed accounting of my trials and tribulations last May, and I will try to continue with that format again. Again, experienced mongers might cringe at my still-amateurish actions, but I am writing mainly for the fellow novices who have need of real life guidance. Lean from my mistakes.

Anyway, this trip was precipitated by my relationship with a real, authentic old-fashioned Thai girl that I met on OKCupid 2-1/2 years ago. I could have chosen for a taxi for 800 Bhat (the new price), but I am a cheap skate and chose a minibus for 180 Bhat. Don't make my mistake! It actually didn't take long to get a bus, but they stopped during the trip at a travel agency for the purported purpose of finding out where each passenger was going – what beach and what hotel. So we had to get out of the bus and go inside and show we had reservations and tell them where we were headed. They didn't with me, but with others they tried to sell them tour packages! Argh. That was upsetting. We wasted a good 20 minutes there. And then the traffic this late this Saturday afternoon was terrible. It took nearly 2 hours to get to my hotel, and there were still people aboard when I was dropped off. Not happy. But I saved $19!

I just commented on the Summer Breeze hotel where I am staying, so I won't say much more, other than I can highly recommend it for a single, male, Bangla Road mongerer. It was just before sunset and I quickly headed to the beach to take some sunset photos. Well, bummer, being so late in the year the sun sat behind some hills in the distance. In May, the sun set over the bay. Bummer, but I got some nice shots of the parasailers. I knew Bangla Road doesn't get going until after 8 or 9, even on a Saturday, so I tried to get some rest. I went over at around 8:30 and the crowd was large but the dancers didn't start coming out until 9. It was pretty crowded after that. I walked back and forth Bangla a number of times, repeating what I did in May. I was a little disappointed with the some of the dancers this time, but it did seem the quality and quantity improved as the night went on.

I already mentioned by experience at Suzy Wong's in a previous post. Total waste of time for me. I shall never bother to go there again. Hot girls, but way too expensive (at least for me), and I left feeling like I was used to get lady drinks. 3 of the 4 girls I bought a drink for never returned, and the one that did wanted more knowing she was going to rip me off on bar fine and her fee.

After I left, I continued walking and looking for FL girls or pretty dancers. But dern those LBs. Argh. All of the best looking "girls" were LBs. I would see a hot, obvious FL girl, go over, and then find she was a he. I may have passed by on a couple of real girls, not knowing for sure. Bummer.

The actual real-girl FLers seemed, again, to mostly hang out near the west end of BR. But I think a few were at the east end. Most of the LB FLers were in the middle. I think some real girls might have been hanging near the LBs, but I steered clear, for if you are hanging near the LBs, then the odds are that you are a LB too. A real girl shouldn't be hanging anywhere near the LBs! There was one cute FL that I walked by a couple of times but she avoided eye contact with me. I need to follow my own advice from last May better. I hope to do better tomorrow. I only have 3 nights here!

But to summarize. Susie Wong's wanted a whopping 7,000 bhat for, I presume, short time. A FL wanted 1,500 bhat, but relented to 1,000 after it started to rain. Crowd was heavy and I only noted one fight, which ended quickly without anyone getting beat up.

At this moment, a single price point for Suzy Wong's 1 is 7,000 Bhat! I didn't even ask for ST or LT. So I have to assume it was ST. But I have complained about age discrimination there before, and maybe a younger dude would get a lower price. I think I was being used for LD's, which is ok, but do wonder if she found me too old for her tastes and jacked the price up accordingly.

Christian's is still 3,300 Bhat.

A late night, common FL girl, after the rain started and people scattered in the wee hours Saturday night (Sunday morning to be technical) was 1,000 Bhat.

The Summer Breeze is not bad. Lugging my luggage up a single flight of stairs wasn't too bad, but a higher level would have been murder on me. I am no spring chicken. The girl at the front desk is very nice. The cleaning ladies are a riot. I really like the bed. Not like the rocks at see and and hotel. The place is a little hole in the wall and easy to miss, but if you are looking you will see the sign. Not a higher-end hotel by any means, but it is very nice and ideal for mongering along Bangla Road. LED flat screen, DVD player, largish refrigerator, nice furnishings, safe, air conditioning, a separate fan, tiled floor, etc. I would definitely pick this place over the see and and and would have no hesitation to return. Oh, and when your girl leaves at the end, they call you up before returning her ID. The see and and didn't always do that. But the see and and has a free breakfast.

7 K THB is high! I guess due to high season. Last month when I was there, was speaking to an usher outside Suzy's and he mentioned that prices goes by:

November 1st week Onwards. Till 23rd December: High Season.

December 24th. Jan 2nd: Peak Season.

Jan 3rd. Feb end: High Season.

Mar. April end: Medium Charges.

May onwards: Low Season.

Reading your post looks like December (new years) will be extremely expensive! I'll be there during that time again. Will have to come prepared.

The Sagami 0. 02 size large (black) and original regular (red) are available all over Bangkok (Sukhumvit) for 69 baht a piece. Expensive. I know, but worth it. Try the pharmacy on the east side of Soi 11 before you come to the Ambassador or the large Chinese run pharmacy on Sukumvit past the gas station situated on the Soi 4 corner. That's the 2nd pharmacy as you walk west on Sukhumvit from Soi 4. I don't know where you can buy Sagami 0. 01's in BKK. I just bought 25 (5 packs) from Amazon. It cost me a small fortune.

I am also not sure where to find them in Patong. Your best bet is to look for them in Boots or Watsons pharmacies. Just ask a clerk at one of these stores.

After 6 months, I am back in Phuket This is just a short, preliminary report of day 1. Arrived late in the afternoon at Summer Breeze. Got to Bangla at about 7:30 PM and it was getting busy, but still pretty tame. The dancing girl didn't come out to 9 AM, and the crowd was pretty large. Larger than it was last May.

I am on a time limit this evening as I had to get back to my hotel to log online as Comic Con International tickets are going on sale at 9 AM PST, which is midnight here. I need to log on to secure my place in the waiting line, then hang around to see if I get selected to purchase tickets.

After 6 months, I am back in Phuket This is just a short, preliminary report of day 1. Arrived late in the afternoon at Summer Breeze. Got to Bangla at about 7:30 PM and it was getting busy, but still pretty tame. The dancing girl didn't come out to 9 AM, and the crowd was pretty large. Larger than it was last May.

I am on a time limit this evening as I had to get back to my hotel to log online as Comic Con International tickets are going on sale at 9 AM PST, which is midnight here. I need to log on to secure my place in the waiting line, then hang around to see if I get selected to purchase tickets.

I leaned in Pattaya last time that just relaxing and not worrying about the prices of those drinks wasn't worth it. Well, what works in Pattaya may not work in Phuket. All 4 quickly left to go dance and only one came back after that. 880 Bhat pretty much down the drain there. I asked the one girl who came back (sorry, not sure which girl it was) if she was barfinable and she indicated yes, for 7,000 bhat. Ummmmmm. I just said "wow". She had wanted another LD before I asked how much, and with that, I was not inclined to buy another. She left after a minute deciding I was not going to pay her rate nor buy her another drink. I left a couple minutes after that. I presume the 7,000 included her fee and the bar fine, but I don't know for sure. I was prepared for 6,000 Bhat, and 7,000 really isn't that much more, but a man has to have his limits. I am back now to try to get those tickets, and I may not be done until after 1 AM here. Unless I fall asleep, I will go back out after afterwards and check for free lancers. Or try a different bar.

I will try to post more details of the day and events leading me back to Phuket tomorrow, as well as anything that may happen later tonight.

Good to be back in Phuket, but I especially can't wait to get back to Pattaya next Monday.

Hey Natty, where do you get these in Patong? I heard / read good reviews on this but couldn't really find one. I've checked most of the 7/11's, family mart in and around Patong did not see any.

The Sagami 0. 02 size large (black) and original regular (red) are available all over Bangkok (Sukhumvit) for 69 baht a piece. Expensive. I know, but worth it. Try the pharmacy on the east side of Soi 11 before you come to the Ambassador or the large Chinese run pharmacy on Sukumvit past the gas station situated on the Soi 4 corner. That's the 2nd pharmacy as you walk west on Sukhumvit from Soi 4. I don't know where you can buy Sagami 0. 01's in BKK. I just bought 25 (5 packs) from Amazon. It cost me a small fortune.

I am also not sure where to find them in Patong. Your best bet is to look for them in Boots or Watsons pharmacies. Just ask a clerk at one of these stores.

Also, try Sagami 0. 02 and 0. 01 polyurethane condoms. They are vastly superior to latex condoms. You will really feel the difference.
