Well the wife and I decided we wanted to spend a bit of time away from Japan and spend it in the sun and on the beach. So we got on the internet and started looking for deals. We found a hotel/spa resort called Alpina. It had a great rating of 5* and the price of $44 USD a night (for the pool access rooms) in the slow season was good. We were escorted to our room and quickly headed out to town. We passed many massage parlors who were offering massages for 200-250bht. The wife and I passed that up as we were hungry. We ate at a nice restaurant on a hill overlooking valley a bit. We then hit one of the many bars not far from the hotel. We located one that had a pretty girl sitting alone outside and a not so pretty Thai woman at the bar. We ordered a beer (80 bht each) and sat down to admire the young woman at the front table outside. Yes the wife wanted her too.... After a while we ordered the girl a beer and asked the bartender to get the girl to join us. The Bartender called to the girl and told us that the girl was very new that she only came here 2-3 days ago and didn’t speak English. She also let us her name was Fa and acted as a translator for us. We started playing a few bar games and continued to drink beer for about an hour.I then took the bartender off to the side and asked her if the girl was able to go out. She told me that Fa’s bar fine would be 300bht and that whatever the girl charged was up to her. I said fine and we paid the bar fine. My wife I could tell was already very excited. The Bar tender asked us to be nice to her as we were her first customers ever. At first I didn’t believe this but looking back on this I am sure it is very true. We walked a bit down the row past many other bars and Fa kept a few steps behind me and the wife. After a while we realized that she wasn’t used to walking in high heals so we called a tuk tuk. When we got to the hotel I almost expected to be questioned about going out with one woman and coming back with two but the night man smiled and said nothing.
When we got to the room my wife needed to go to use the toilet and wanted to take a quick shower, leaving Fa with me alone in the bedroom. When I started to touch Fa she got very nervous and pointed at the bathroom and then at me and her finger (indicating a ring). She was confused when I started laughing as she thought that it would cause a problem with my wife that I was going to touch her. Avoid the tourist places on Beach Rd. If you want seafood in an outdoor setting, eat at the restaurants on Rat-U-Thit Rd, just north of Bangla on the left hand side (heading north) or the ones at the back of Soi Tiger. Much cheaper and just as good.

Agree on this 100%...Savoey is overpriced...the ones on Rat-U-Thit road are very nice and just as good.

Phuket (Patang) . . . well it seems a bit hit and miss, so here is my thoughts on the last 24 hours:

- The weather is bloody terrible (rainy season)

Bars:

- had thought they would start to be active from 7.30 but sitting in one at 9.30 last night - very few people out drinking and waves of girls seemed to start arriving from 10pm. Bars were busy from 11pm-1am. This feels odd - why so late? As a friend put it, with the state of the Thai economy you would ahve thought they would be out as early as possible.

- Learn to play Connect 4 and Shut The Box. Many of the girls English is limited versus China (Shanghai bars) and Phils. Game playing seems to be the way forward but it is difficult to build a rapport (I am a bar kind of guy - chat, socialise, choose you girl, go home)

- Some of the bar girls are on salaries, say 10k BHT a month. This means that they will not bar fine for either a) more than one hour or b) only after 2am. It is still a 500BHT fine. I got caught out on this. Sensible thing seems to be to ask in adavnce.

- Very little pressure to go out - almost to the point of disinterest. At least to the point of not being sure if the girl will go.

- There are some good lookers in the bars - I like Soi Tiger and Soi Eric the most - but there are loads of average looking girls as well and quite a few just seem pretty jaded - the most I ahve seen like that in Asia.

- There was very little pressure for Lady Drinks - tie them in with winning games (esp. STB which is bloody hard to win at)

- LD's are about 160 but beers vary from 90-100 BHT

GoGo Bars

- There are several - I went to Roxy (late, real dregs) and The first one at the top end of Bangla Rd (upstairs)

- Bar fine is 600BHT. Girls seem to want 2000BHT ST

- There are some good lookin girls in there - dancing 20 mins on and then 20 mins off. English . . . varies

- more pressure for LD's - 160BHT and Beers are 140BHT

Massage Places

- These are all of the place. They sometimes try to literally haul you in off the street. You can get a legitimate foot massage but opt for an oil massage (400bht) and they will whip you upstairs and after a whilse try and upsell you. Seems it is 200BHT for a HJ

Sopay Place

- Have not tried - but am feeling bored. Watch this space

I am pretty surprised by the lack of activity during the day beyond the massage places. Expected some of the bars to open earlier. Afternoon sex is just so much more fun than alcohol / hangover induced shagging.

Perhaps I am getting Patong wrong so if someone wants to point me in the right direction - Cheers!

Yes it's called the Savoey or smthg like that. It's a touristy place though (read: pricy) as per the reviews I have read. Cheaper options elsewhere.

In my opinion Dole 13, you won't have too much trouble finding any good seafood restaurants in Phuket. It's and island after all

It's the best reviewed girl friendly hotel I have found up to now. It's already there in my extensive list posted in Phuket Hotels thread.

I have stayed at the Yorkshire Inn and it is very friendly as well as being girl friendly. The breakfasts are excellent too.

However the room I stayed in was small, so small in fact that it would have been difficult to swing a small cat. I recommend that you ask about the room size or view before committing.

The Phuket Reports and Phuket Hotels threads are getting MUCH less activity than other regions (BKK, Pattaya).

As I have booked 5 days in each city, I have started to question the idea of passing by Phuket.

What's the deal there? I hear it's more expensive than Pattaya but less than Bangkok. But is it the least interesting place from the 3 cities in terms of mongering? Or does ISG-Thailand's community simply tend to focus more on BKK and Pattaya for other reasons? (close community, living in BKK and/or Pattaya, etc...)

Same thing for Phuket Hotels. Admin has opened the thread recently (much appreciated), but other than my posts, it has had only 4 posts in 11 days, including one about another island.

My question is where can i find lobsters to eat in a good price...Is it better to buy from vendors and have it cooked then? (but where can i get it to be cooked? ) And how about an average price per Kg in a restaurant or by a vendor?

Sorry but I do not know the prices but if you head down Bangla road towards the beach then turn right there is a restaurant on your right.

However keep going until you get to a cross road turn left towards the beach and there is a seafood restuarant on the beach on your left.

It was very good but I have not been there for a couple of years. Worth a try though.

Have a trip there soon, and although I've been there a few times before I never had any free time. On this trip I have a day free and am hoping the place has gotten a little more busy since my last visit in 07.

I arrived in Phuket, travelling from Krabi about a week ago. There are many ways of getting here. I strongly suggest not to use the minivan. My driver seemed to be on a suicide mission!!

GETTING AROUND

Tuktuks, taxis and motorcycle taxis are all available. My hotel was in nanai road, in an almost direct line with Bangla Rd.

this is were it gets interesting. Patong offers a variety of realities all superimposed over each other. this is what happened...
Reality 1 MP'S
I prefer the small MP's rather the big obvious ones. I chose one where the selection of girls seemed good...at least 2/3 good looking ones. i started chatting to them and after some time chose the one I wanted. the massage was good and she offered me a happy ending. As usual i declined, preferring to take the transaction to another level. I asked if she was busy after work. She said no, so we met at my place (LT, 700B). The amount of lovely ladies riding around Patong is amazing...just go out and see for yourself my friends. Give them the eye, smile and if they smile back you know the game is on. many times they stopped for a brief chat. I picked up one coyote dancer and a gogo girl this way on two other afternoons (700B each ST).

Reality 4 Jungceylon
What am I supposed to say? this place is choca block with lovelies who can generally speak english. I spoke to some ina very casual manner and asked where they go in the evening. It seems that hollywood disco is a popular venue and it turned out to be right. I met one of the girls from Jungceylon and went back to my place (LT 1000B).

CONCLUSION

No need to rush, no need to hurry, it's low season and it shows. We can play a waiting game if we want because the supply is enormous compared to demand. Play the game guys and have fun.

I had already checked these 2 (Yorkshire Inn and C&N) as well as about 25 other GF hotels in the area.

I even confirmed with Ian from Yorkshire Inn about girl friendliness. Apparently they don't only accept it, they encourage it!

Anyways, their new rooms look pretty good, but cleanliness is a main priority for me. Can anyone give a field report maybe?

Another option is The Tique Boutique Hotel. Rates are ridiculously high at first sight (7,000 or 8,000), but when you go to booking the "specials" make them drop to 2,000 and less. Even though they charge 500 joiner fee, their rooms looks above average and reviews state they are extremely clean (brand new hotel).

Obviously the Yorkshire is right in the action right of Bangla on Soi Sansabai, but the Tique seems close enough but far away too and much more discreet.

Anyone tried any of these two hotels?

PS: why I prefer higher-end hotels you say? well, mainly I enjoy 24hr room service (aphrodisiacs, champagne, etc...) and being able to order XXX movies with my guests via their entertainment system, helps to set the mood sometimes.
