Thanks for your report. I'm a Kata guy myself, though haven't been for 2 years. But hopefully going back there sometime soon. So any further reports you have on the kata scene would be much appreciated. Your oil massage sounded good.- my only tip is that you shouod be able to get it a fair bit cheaper than that. For eg, pay 300 baht for the actual oil massage, and 200 baht for HJ. If good BJ, about 300 baht. 400 baht tops. At least that's been my experience. So where exactly were the massage places you went to? Are these ones on the road with a lot of the restaurants (th thai na) or the back streets near Sugar Palm (where lachlan mentions)?

Yeah, the back roads near Sugar Palm sounds about right. The place I went to was along the back road (if you go to the end of the main beach drag heading south, and then turn left inland. About 100 yards up on the right. But there are dozens of them, and I suspect the one chose was only special because my girl caught my eye with the twinkle in hers).

I did end up spending the next few days with her and having a great time. We motorbiked around the southern part of the island, and she showed me many sights one day. Another we lounged by the pool and at the beach. And at night she showed me a few other things (I particularly liked that she felt that she could not give a good BJ and wanted instruction, which I was glad to provide). She also brought her tools of the trade along and gave me a massage in the hotel as well as a pedicure and manicure. Could have had a haircut if I needed it!

As to prices for the massage, I suspect you are right, I could have negotiated down. Sometimes I do want to do that, and sometimes not. It depends on the situation. In this case I figured a few hundred extra baht didn't matter since I liked her. Call it a tip for good service, which I did receive.

Incidentally, I later learned a lot from her about things that may be helpful to some of us. About the difficulties of cross-cultural understanding and of the financial structure of what they do. ON the latter, the massage girls make no money if there are no customers (boss may give some money for food, or may not). Some days (it is low season now) there are 2, 3 or 7 customers for the entire shop of 4 or 5 ladies. Sometimes there are none. If a customer comes and only pays for massage (300 for an oil massage), she makes 120, and the boss keeps 180. If she gives extras, the boss takes part of that too. I think it was 200. So if you don't pay more than 500, she may not be making much more than she would just for the regular massage. So the motivation to give extras is high for these girls, because otherwise they can't make enough to live. If she goes out of the shop with a customer, she must pay the boss 300 of whatever she makes. So my view is it is better to be a little too generous than a little too cheap if you are going to make an error. At the end of the day, it won; t make much difference to me, and it does make a difference to her.

Another thing she told me was that many customers are not very clear in expressing what they want to girls with limited English skills (she thought it was largely the guys whose first language is not English. Germans, Italians, French). They may say "happy" massage instead of "happy ending".- and she wasn't sure what that would mean. If there is uncertainty, it's ok to come right out and say what you want, these girls are not shocked by it. Better to be clear. She wants to know how to please you if she can. 'BJ' or 'blowjob' is understood, but "smoking" is clearer. It was also clear that there is no boom-boom (FS) in the shops, by the way. So don't push for that, because it will only cause problems. FS is strictly a take-out option.

She also reinforced an idea that others here have written about. I spent a few days with her, and then told her I would like to spend some time alone, so I sent her home. We parted on good terms, and she joked with me about finding another girl for the next night. But she made it clear that it would hurt her if I went back to her shop and chose one of those girls to take instead of her. It seemed to me not to be simply a matter of jealousy, but also a question of her losing face.

Well, Phuket has been fun. I wonder what will happen next!

I'm fairly new to the mongering scene, so still a lot of questions after my experience.

In general I haven't gone into any of the bars along Bangla, partly being young and inexperienced with mongering, it's a bit intimidating. Rather, I've been going out to the clubs, either Hollywood or Tiger, which both seem to be the best around. Tiger Disco has great music and a crowd that seems more diverse, such as people who are there just for the dancing and music. Pretty decent looking girls that aren't as forward as the ones in Hollywood. One problem is that ladyboys are allowed in, so be careful. Hollywood is just a place for girls to hook up with guys it seems. No one really dances just to dance here, though the music isn't terrible. It definitely seems more like a forum for guys to take home girls. Typically girls are more forward here.

It seems like ever girl in Patong is looking for someone. For example, my friend was gawking at a girl with the cutest butt through a window of a jewelry shop in the middle of the day. I told him to stop being so obvious, but as soon as her friend pointed the situation out, the girl came up to the window and started rubbing herself all over, teasing my friend. He left before anything else happened. Or I would be rolling along in my motorbike and go past two cute girls, who would glance over and smile, showing interest in a pretty obvious way.

First time I was walking along the beach and walked past several cute Thai girls. They all smiled to me so I started conversation. What ended up happening is that I hit it off with a massage girl, got a traditional massage for 300B, then got her number, followed up with a date the same night, which ended with a wonderful freebie. The girl gave me a "mosquito bite" (hicky) on my neck and wanted to see me again, saying she wanted to travel through laos with me, since I will be going in the near future.

Second encounter was with three cute girls at Hollywood. One of the girls was extremely cute, probably a 9. They danced with me the whole night, played pool with me, didn't really ask me to get them any drinks. The really cute girl kept talking to me, telling me all about herself, even about her ex who was a "butterfly, " etc, etc. I got breakfast with them and then called it a night, went home. They wanted me to see them again. When I stopped by to visit them (they are dancers at Pirates), they were happy to see me, but when the girl saw my mosquito bite from the massage girl, she got extremely upset. I told her to stop by Hollywood later when she was done at Pirates, but she never did. That was it.

Third encounter. Walking along NaNai at night by some closed massage parlours. However, one Thai woman was outside begging me to come in. She was pretty cute (7) with a great body that I figured, okay. She excitedly took me into the parlour and upstairs. She stripped me naked and started giving me a Thai massage. All along giggling and poking me, teasing me; it was all real cute and turned me on. She started making out with me, and then when I was turned on enough, she asked me how much I would pay for boom boom. I think I had indicated that this was the first massage situation I've been in, so she immediately asked for 2000. Thanks to this forum, I didn't buy it. I told her all I had was 1000. She said, "ok no problem" and we did it. She started telling me about how she's only here for a short time and is desperate to make money for her baba (dad), and how I've been her first customer in days, etc etc to make me feel bad for her. She kept saying I would be good for her. I have no idea if she's lying or not, but either way, she wanted my number at the end, and has called me once a day. What does this mean? Does she just want a return customer?

Last encounter was the best. I went into hollywood on the way back from the massage, just wanting to go back to my place and sleep (though figured I'd see how the girls were that night). I was in a tshirt and shorts, so didn't feel too great about being there. All of a sudden a girl falls into me and as I catch her, she looks back at me and smiles. Then she grabs me, typical. She was about an 8 on first appearance. I indicate that I'm on my way out to meet with my buddy at the hotel. She tries to get me to stay but says okay fine. I get back to my place and realize, what the hell, I'm leaving Phuket soon, I need to go back. So I threw on a polo over my tshirt and headed back. Sure enough the same girl grabbed me. She was quite cute so I figured I'd dance with her. Within 5 minutes she's kissing me on the lips, making out with me. Half an hour later and she's possessive with me, putting my arms around her, making sure I don't leave when she goes to the bathroom (she was one of the cutest in the club, so I couldn't complain). When my buddy called, she thought it was a lady and was visibly upset, ready to just walk away from me. I have my buddy talk to her and afterwards she's all hugs and kisses with me again. I couldn't take her back to my place because two of the girls at the hotel lobby like me, and it was still too early, so I made up some excuse. Instead she takes me back to her place. It's a crummy place, wow, and she shares a bed with another. Her friends were with us and so drunk, so making a lot of noise. It's raining so I can't leave. The girl tells me that she's never had anyone over before, I'm her first. She starts semi- making out with me on her bed while her roomies are walking by. She really wants a hotel. We never end up doing it, but that night she shows me her piicture album, puts her email address on it, makes sure I would call her the next day to meet up, and finally let's me leave. I call her the next day, we meet up, she takes off from work for me (she's a bargirl at soi seadragon) and we spend the night on the beach, dancing, at the bar, etc. We go back to her place and boom boom, FB. Anyway, this girl is super into me. She's been calling me every day and I've been keeping up becuase she's quite up there in looks. She gives me a huge mosquito bite and wants me to be her boyfriend.

So, that's the story. I guess I should say that I tend to attract asian women (doesn't matter what country) and I'm in my mid-20's. However, I also am new to this whole mongering thing. I've essentially gotten a lot of FB's, but there's the whole relationship thing attached to it that girls want from me. Local expats say to not get attached but to definitely have fun with it. I've read of girls getting men emotionally attached and then 8mths later ending up with 20, 000B a month in their bank accounts (but that's usually not with guys in their mid-20s). So, who wants to help me to make sense of this thing?

o.k., so i got to phuket yesterday. this is not so much a mongering report as a set of observations about the scene here... (although i do mention one good bbbj/hj later). i thought maybe it would be helpful to people who are trying to figure out which destination is for them... as tastes vary widely, it may be helpful to have something more descriptive of the scene.

made a reservation for two nights initially in patong beach, because that is where the heavy action is and i thought i would check that out and then decide. after one night hanging out around bangla road, i had enough of that scene.

don't get me wrong - for some guys it is incredibly fun and crazy. but i've seen it all in bangkok on soi cowboy and nana and the rest of the locations, except with better quality options for the most part. and frankly, i found most of the girls here not very appealing, though there were certainly some good ones. maybe i am spoiled just having arrived from a few days in bangkok with the pick of the thermae cafe fls who outclass the fls plying their trade outsider the bars on bangla rd here. and the ratio of katooeys here seems higher (though i did enjoy the one who approached me ion front of thermae the other day - almost could have fooled me, until she put her arm out to greet me and said "i have a really big dick" - made me laugh and say "i don't think i really need one of those, as i have one, but thanks for letting me know"). in patong, the girls grabbing your arm and trying to force you to come into their bar gets old fast, making me want to turn around and go the other way (guess i'm not drunk enough). i ended up hanging out at a nice little bar on soi sea dragon where they left me alone to choose... so i chose them (they looked nice too). the scene here is (again, for me... others may like this more) a bit too in your face crude, and the beach mirrors that - if you want a swim you dodge speed boats for parasailing, jet skis up and down the beach... it is very much a reflection of the culture here in patong, overwhelming the beauty of the natural scene - and it is a beautiful beach - i did go for a swim this morning at about 8:30 and pretty much had the beach to myself, except the massage ladies who offered to take my credit when i responded to their plea for business that i had no cash on my because i had just come down for a swim... desperate times call for desperate measures.

so i decided to check out kata on a rented motorbike today... by the way, renting a motorbike is definitely the way to go, but do be careful, as the driving here is a bit unfamiliar to many farangs. but if you can handle it, you can see so much more of the island... started off poorly - gased up (they delivered the bike empty) and then within a few minutes had a flat tire... so i headed back and exchanged the bike (got charged 100 baht for driving it with a flat tire, but i figured the $3 was worth not getting stranded and not waiting around all day). they brought me another bike (newer one in better condition than the first), and i headed off again, again beginning with gas!

kata is a much different scene, more tranquil for sure, more family oriented. but it is not without its p4p options as well, only they are a little more subtle. there is the small strip of bars lachlan has mentioned getitng a bbbj in... checked that out, but no such luck for me on the first try! (which bar was it lachlan? inquiring minds want to know!) but my venture into my first mp there was a much bigger hit - passed many with nice looking girls calling out to me or waving... one in particular caught my eye, so i came back to it later, and took an hour oilie... very nice massage from an "older" woman (older to many of you - only in her 30s, which is younger than me, and she cut a very nice figure imho). had nice conversation, and ended with a combo hj/bbbj - massage and ending all for 1000 baht... and i have date with her tomorrow to bring her back to my hotel after her work ends.

as i drove around kata, i'd have to say that there are lots of options. on at least two occasions, i was eyed by lone women on their motos... one even slowing down and heading to the side of the road as if to invite me to come over to chat. i also checked out the hotels - especially the ones on the main drag near the beach (not the big resorts, which are out of my price-range), finding which one i wanted to stay in - a couple i stopped at do charge joiner fees (e.g., kata country house, which had cute wooden bungalows, charges 1000 for joiner fee), and kata palm resort & spa seemed to be discouraging it as i discussed it with the desk people unless the girl is registered by name at the start..., but others were quite clear that if i check in for two, i will not be charged extra if i bring home a girlfriend (sugar palm, which is quite modern and chic charges a little extra for a room for two (about 200 baht more) but 1000 joiner fee if you register for just one and then bring someone back. i ended up selecting kata poolside resort - nice rooms, beautiful pool, no joiner fee, and an easy walk to the beach. they also offered a good discont if you stay more than two days, bringing the price down to less than 1000/night. will report later if it all works as planned.

by the way - am staying at the summer breeze in patong beach right now. it's a great place if you want to be in town (not right by the beach - but a really short walk -- maybe 7-8 minutes max). it's on san sabai just about a block from the craziness of bangla rd, but i did not hear the noise from the still thumping discos (my room is in the back) after coming home at around 2. the pluses of the place are a really nice staff, a very guest friendly policy and attitude... and nice clean rooms... met some really nice guests also - p[eople hang out at the bar/restaurant at the entrance quite a bit, so it's easy to meet others... the only negative i can find is that i have one of the suites, which is on the top floor... and climbing four flights after a few beers late at night is not all that much fun. but other than that, i highly recommend this place for an excellent guest house option in town in patong.

there is also a row of girlie bars on the other end of san sabai (going away from the beach and bangla rd). less crazy, but clearly available talent there. may see what's up there tonght.

Just stayed there last week and yes, it is true there is a 500thb joiner fee. There isn't a way to sneak them in either as there is only one way in now that only 1 wing is open. But if you take her early and have her out by 10pm there is not a joiner fee.
It is not very close to the action on bangla - it is close to the Holiday Inn end. Plus everytime you have to walk past all the hawkers. No, I don't want a tuk tuk or an Indian dinner or a massage or a new suit etc.

Thanks for the advice, I can't really stand the damn hawkers. It seems all of Patong Beach's high-end hotels are like this then? Can you recommend something close to the action so that you would not have hawkers as soon as you walk out?

Just stayed there last week and yes, it is true there is a 500thb joiner fee. There isn't a way to sneak them in either as there is only one way in now that only 1 wing is open. But if you take her early and have her out by 10pm there is not a joiner fee.
It is not very close to the action on bangla - it is close to the Holiday Inn end. Plus everytime you have to walk past all the hawkers. No, I don't want a tuk tuk or an Indian dinner or a massage or a new suit etc.

I don't think I believe that. But if true it would be phenomenal. The city only has a population of 80,000, and the province 300,000. And I thought northern Thailand was where the highest concentration of AIDS was.

I've seen reports listing Phuket as the having second highest HIV rates in Thailand and one that listed it as number five. These numbers are meaningless to the population unless or until they directly affect them.

Yes it is true they do charge 500. But if you bring her back early and she is out by 10pm they do not charge a joiner fee. This hotel is on the beach rd but it is quite a walk to bangla. It is close to the Holiday Inn. I just got a rate for 1500 Last week but there is construction goin on and since the pool is closed you have to use the pool at the hotel next door.

I just returned from Phuket and stayed in the C&N hotel, 1000 Baht/night and no joiner fee. The hotel is located 2 minutes walk from Bangla road and I would highly recommend it for the friendly staff and quality of the room.
