Hi, scuba diving question.
The best spots in the area I am aware of are:
- Richelieu Rock / Koh Tachai.
- Hin Daeng / Hin Muang / Koh Haa.
Did dive several times during last few years but visibility was always bad.
Will come back in Phuket area in December. Did not book any diving yet.
Any tip where / when I should go to improve the chance of good visibility? Mainly looking for big fish.
Any other diving spot around Phuket you would suggest (I did dive the Koh Phi Phi spots already).
Thank you.

I'm also a big advocate of Hua Hin, tho it's a step below the other three as a mongering destination.
Well behind those four come in Koh Samui, Chaing Mai, Ao Nang (Krabi).
Then the Isaan delights (of Udon Thani, Nong Khao, Buriram, and Korat.
But, to put it bluntly, other than the deep Muslim south, you can find it easily everywhere.

Tho both do have a bit of each.
Pattaya has a few quieter areas.
Phuket has one Vegas style area, Bangla Road.

As that's where Down Under Sportsbar is.
And no, I can't recall mentioning a Nina there.

Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the middle of planning my trip to Thailand. Do you recommend to spend some days in Phuket or Pattaya instead? I heard Phuket is a more relaxed vibe, while Pattaya is a more of a Vegas scene. How accurate is that?

Checked out this place last night. Is the area called "Pub town" or "Little Aussie? Anyways, are there any other areas like this around Patong? Definitely liked how much more laid back it was than Bangla.
ThaiGoodtimes, didn't you say you had an older lady friend from Down under pub? Nina? Played some pool with her and talked for awhile. She seemed pretty popular with the crowd.

Hadn't been in Patong since January 2014, so take it for what its worth. Oh and before I forget, thanks for all the tips. They did come in handy.
Arrived yesterday. Long ass drive from the airport to the Patong resort. You can use grab at the airport, you just have to walk out across the street. Wasnt too hard.
PM observations. Tons of lady boys. If "she" looks super hot and / or has a super nice body, pretty safe to assume she is a LB. Choose wisely.
Yes a ton of Indian guys now. Not bad, just different from 2014.
Rounds my buddy and I made:
Suzy Wongs. Got there kinda early. 5 girls on stage at all times. Pretty passive scene. Some were naked, some were not. Its their choice apparently. Had a few drinks and moved on. Pretty good looking.
Popped in on Harem later in the night and that place HAD ENERGY! It was like a US strip club. Very nice talent. The Suzy Wong girls are required to work there on the weekends after SW closes for the night. My buddy and I like the more quiet go gos so we moved on.
We ended up in Tomorrow land. Very average looking girls but they were very hands on. Mine was a little thicker but she was fully naked and had her hands down my pants. She quoted 3 K for up stairs plus 600 for room. I said 2000 k for everything and she didn't really budge so whatever.
Lady drinks seem pretty norm at 220-250 baht at most places.
Popped into Illuzion. Tons of people for a Wednesday. Definitely some cuties rolling around but a lot of dudes. Probably 2-1 dude ratio. Pass.
I tried to find the "nuru massage" place across from Yorkshire Inn today. Only found "Patong massage". Didn't see Nuru on the menu but went for a 400 baht oil massage with a gal that looked pretty good. Decent massage. On the flip she made her offers. 2500 for everything. I countered with 2000 and handed it over. Nice experience. She didn't hesitate with the BBFSCIP even though I pulled out, she popped it right back in. That was a nice surprise.
I noticed the massage places mostly have the chairs now on the bottom floor and the curtained off rooms are up stairs. I don't think that was like that in 2014. Its better.
More notes to come.
Taco.

I would say the raining season is heavy and longer. Even the long term merchants along beach road are saying it's like 10 month raining season.
I would delay any travel until next year if possible. They have great demand pricing for umbrellas and rain coat as soon it starts to rain LOL. Good to Patong was ahead of the game many years ago! When ever it rains all the massage shops reduce capacity as people hang out inside awaiting the rain to pass or ladies take a break. The flash flooding really puts a damper on just wandering around finding little gems.
On the upside less people when it rains and it's not cold.
I would say that the bangala road is back to about 80% . I would avoid the gogo"s for bar fines the prices are super high right. Harem and Susie wong are quoting 3-4 k short time and 700 bar fine. Given the talent is not as good as bkk, it's hard to justify. I did the rounds of few places and did not see any bar fines.
It's all bad thou, freelancer on WeChat and on the street is still ok 1. 5 and you can ask what service is.
When it's not raining there are a few gem massage shops.
I would keep your expectation in check when out and about, Bkk is so much better for price and quality.
I won't comment on grab or motor bike taxi haaaa! Better hire a scooter or walk.

There were freelancers along Soi Bangla. More started to come out at midnight when I went back to my hotel. Not ugly, but nothing to write home about. I miss that BJ bar that was around Go-go street, maybe 15 years ago. Not there anymore.
I will definitely do and see more, when I go to Pattaya next month, without my older relatives!

Can you share more insight on your travels around Patong for those who are thinking of visiting.
I am guessing they get bored of me "spruiking" Phuket.
