Just mention 'Patong' and any fool driving those little Phuket vans will understand what you're looking for.
The shortest route runs along the coast, a very hilly road. Just stay on until you get there, no way can you miss the bars...
They will ask for B500 or so one way - they will settle for B100 daytime, B150-200 nighttime.

Are there no regular buses to Patong from Kata? Busservices do go from places like Kata, Karon, Rawai and Patong to Phuket Town (near the market) for sure, where you can change to buses to any of those places.
Regular busservice terminates around 5.30 PM. Every trip takes up to 45 mins plus change-buses time.

Phuket takes a little (well, a lot) of getting used to. The roadplan is difficult to understand to say the least. Lots of one way streets and funny patterns to follow when you're driving or riding yourself.
BTW All Phuket Town taxidrivers are assholes - no exceptions! I've posted on those morons more than once.

Best grab a van, say 'Patong', hold on for dear life until you get there, let a girl take you to her room and fuck her trying hard not to think of your wife.
Then go back to Kata, you won't be bothered by the way your driver drives: Your life has changed forever!

I've been coming down to Phuket on and off for the past 5 years and can truly say that I do enjoy this tropical paradise lots!

Am now trying to organize another trip next week but was told by my travel agent - horror of horrors - that the previous cheap flights on Orient Thai will not start until May 1 and that Dragon Air has stopped flying there. The only flight available is on Thai Airways which transits in Bangkok - thus making the previous 3-1/2 hour flight into an odyssey of anywhere from 5-1/2 hours to even 9 hours, depending on when I fly PLUS the cost is over HK$3,500.

Is this true? I thought that there is a big "Phuket" Drive to get more tourists down after the Tsunami. Do you guys know of any way I could get down and back Hong Kong/Phuket in a more convenient AND cheaper way?

Would appreciate any advise.

Hello all, Finally in Thailand. Only problem is family is also here. Staying at Kata Beach. Anything in this area or do I need to head up to Patong or Phuket Town? Specific directions appreciated because I will probably print them and hand them to one of the cabbies. Still have another 5 days on the island. Would really like to sample the local girls.

i just returned from 3 weeks in thailand. i started out spending 10 days in bangkok, 4 nights in pattaya, 4 nights in patong, and 3 nights on phi phi leh.

my experiences in the various venues (nana plaza, soi cowboy, walking road, and bangla road) gave me a pretty good opportunity to review the mongering scene in thailand.

phuket was a beautiful island, a great change (geographically) from bangkok but was rather lame in the night scene. the bars on bangla road were pretty empty just about every evening. generally there were about 5-10 girls sitting in each bar, some bars had a few guys sitting around but in general, the place was empty. the locals had a very desolate look in there eyes, a look of despair!.

i would rate bangla at the low end of the entertainment spectrum compared to soi cowboy, nana, and ecspecially walking road in pattaya.

i did manage to get a pretty good rate at the novotel (patong) for only $67/night including buffet breakfast. they gave me a upgraded room on one of the top floors overlooking the beach. luckily i left the day before the city of patong had a mandatory electrical blackout for two straight days (daytime only). could not imaging how it would have been without a/c!! quite a few people i spoke with told me that alot of the hotels did not notify the guests when the earthquake struck sumatra two weeks ago. quite unsettling for the tourists

also nabbed a great offer at the 4 star phi phi island resort for 3 days/2 nights including buffet breakfast, fixed traditional thai dinner, transportation from patong to phuket town and speed boat transport direct to the resort (avoiding long public ferry ride).. 4900 baht total, taxes and transport included. what a beautiful island chain,, a shame that the main areas got so devastated (tonsai bay)

I'm not a fan of Thai girls so I didn't bother doing the Bangla or any other scene, but being in Patong Beach, where every other person is shouting "hello, new suit," "hello, tuk-tuk," "hello, whatever" sucked royally. I may go back there to do further training because I like the dive school (Scuba Cat, highly recommended), but the place licks, and not in a good way.

Intrasit----if you don't like Thai girls, fair enough, but can I remind you that you are posting on a Thailand section of the WSG. I would imagine that there are dive schools all over the world----try some of them.

Ithink that putting up with locals trying to make a very modest living is a small price to pay for the privilage to be staying in such a fantastic place, and as a senior member I am surprised you dont accept that.

Also given the nature of this board, it was a strange place to visit given that you are not as you say "a fan of Thai girls"

I've always heard that Phuket is the most expensive place for entertainment in Thailand. In general, it's full of foreigners with money burning holes in their pockets so the rates there are usually much higher than anywhere else. But, I just went there and had a lovely time there for 1800 B.

First, a taxis took me to Muang Fan on Poonpon Soi 1. It looked like any other brightly lit restaurant in Thai but at this one, there were only young ladies and they weren't eating. The men chose their poison from outside as the women waited to be called. It was my first time so I asked the Papa who was the best. They pointed me to Ann, she wasn't a hotty but was worth every kratang(500 Baht for short time half/half). I then walked back and found the Siam Hotel that. The taxi driver said that none were worth looking at but on the 4th floor, a siren named Gate appeared. Just fabulous. The had the works done one her, tummy tuck, breast enlargement, but man, the doctor was a magician. No kissing but a beautiful lay for 400B.

I then went with Rowi, a woman in her late 30's for another 400B.

I finished my 24 hour stop over at a massage parlor down the street. The most beautiful Bun gives the most sensual massage. Sucked her tits and got a handy and an hour massage for 400B.

So, you too can have cheap thrills in Phuket Town.

Word from a friend in immigration is that Thai Immigration will be setting up at least 2 mobile immigration desks at yet unnamed resorts in Phuket in order to extend visas for those wanting to stay longer. It is in hope of keeping tourists and $ in the area for longer periods of time without them having to go through an agency or doing a border run.

The initial test will be for about 2 months.

Yes the American Navy left a few days ago, so everything back to normal. But still low level of tourism compared to pre Tsunami. Prices have dropped after the Americans left, but Tuk Tuk is still 100 Bt which is kind of insane compared with Bangkok Taxi prices. But the sun tanned babes of Patong are special.

These are crucial vacation planning questions. Crucial i tell you.

Arrived in Phuket not sure what to expect after all the negative reports of late. Phuket has definitely changed, and not for the better yet. It badly needs tourists to return in quantity.

Quality of girls, generally speaking, has gone down, and far fewer of them. Speaking to old friends, it appears that many girls are so afraid of a repeat Tsunami that they have left for good to Bangkok or Pattaya. Others who are not so superstitious have still left due to lack of tourists.

Booked in at the Expat, and went strolling. Found a few good ones still in my old hunting grounds of Soi Eric, a side soi off Soi Bangla. Surprisingly good selection, given my initial impression of the place. Found a real cutie, 24 no kids, tall slim,, claimed (as always!) to have arrived that week, and had a very pleasurable full service BBBJ night for 1000 Baht. Not too bad a way to start my break!

The next two nights explored the side sois off Bangla, and basically ended up with the same results. Selection is obviously lower than before, but they are still there if you take the time to look, and prices have not changed at all. Soi Tiger had a good selection, and even the new Soi Lion had a few cuties.

Went off to Soi Sea Pearl, a beer bar cluster on the left as you go down Soi Sainamyen, 500 metres west of Bangla, from 2nd road to the beach. In it’s heyday, this was my favourite fishing hole, missed by most of the regular tourists. Today, it is half the size it was a year ago, and a very limited selection. Still managed to pull a 20 year old , no kids, 34B, who I kept for 2 days (breaking my own rule!) as she very enthusiastically serviced me without prompting. It has been said many times before in this forum, but if you treat the girls with a little respect (they are human, and most are working only to support families after all) smile and joke with them, the rewards multiply exponentially! How true.
Turns out that Soi Sea Pearl is being razed to make way for a new road and hotel, so no wonder they were not doing much to repair Tsunami damage. Many of the bars have already relocated to the old Moodies bar mall, located on 2nd road about 150 metres west of Bangla. Now called Soi Sukhumvit!! Maybe it will bring some life into what has traditionally been poor hunting grounds.

Decided to get out of Patong, and went trolling in Phuket Town. Went to Fantasia, a new high end bar for rich Thais in the centre of Phuket Town. Very classy, huge bar with amazing sound system, sexy dance troop from BKK (not available for bookings, unfortunately!) and around 50 average to good looking ladies in evening gowns all seated behind a long bar. However, sticker shock killed me – a Heineken was 260 Baht, short time was 2700 Baht and long time an amazing 3600Baht. I can speak reasonably good Thai, and overheard the same pricing being given to the locals! Not my cup of tea, I much prefer cheap and nasty, wherever I travel! Strolled down to a new nightclub called Zanzibar, Phuket Royal City Hotel, which had a very good band with an amazing lead singer, a Thai Tina Turner. Around 11, it became very full, and quite a few groups of girls in mid 20’s. They all, at some time or other during the evening, made a show of passing by and saying hello. I was one of only a handful of Farangs in the place, and the only single one, (also strategically seated on the way to the washroom - old habits die hard!) so must have stood out to them. Collected phone numbers from several really sweet ones, but it was obvious from their questions that they were looking for a boyfriend rather than a professional one night encounter. However, there appeared a group of 5 really attractive girls across the bar, who held eye contact for a really long time. Working girls! Went over, and sure enough, they were there for customers! Nowhere near as professional as their sisters in Patong, they were college girls out to supplement income. Pleasantly shy, I picked what to me was the most attractive with the best attitude combination, unfortunately, a 3some was not on the cards with these girls, no matter how hard I encouraged it! Went off to eat at Fever Corner. Very few girls there compared to last visit, though it was a little early at only 1 am. Took her back to Patong, and was amazed at how many stunning looking girls were now in town! Amazing isn’t it, how as soon as you choose your one for the night, you immediately see better options! Never mind, went to room and did the deed, very good all round GFE! Next day, gave her 1000 Baht (no point in spoiling the prices for other mongers!) plus 300 baht for a TUK Tuk back to Phuket.

Found out that my eyesight wasn’t all that bad after all, there really was an amazing number of hotties around, because the US Navy had arrived! All had come in from around Thailand – I heard from Hat Yai , Bangkok and Pattaya in particular. Amazing jungle telegraph system – “there is a boat load of horny young guys with lots of money arriving, spread the word!”

My usual rule is to get out of town fast as soon as I see a grey ship in the bay anywhere. This time, however, I stayed. Never before seen the troops so quiet and well behaved, never before seen so many Shore Patrol. Something has obviously been said to these boys. No fights, no drunks, just massive quantities of short time. I sat at a bar on the corner of Soi Bangla and Soi Sea dragon, and between 1 and 4 in the afternoon, saw one very sexily dressed pro take 7 short timers in succession off to a room close by. I smiled every time she left or returned, and it soon turned into a game, she laughing right back! She was still pulling when I left! The good news is that almost all these boys were back on the ship by 10 pm, leaving huge quantities of great looking girls around with lots of money in their bags! And did they party! Went to Tiger Disco and had a great time! Saw the girl who had been pulling furiously earlier that day, she recognised me and bought ME a beer! Turns out she had been getting 3000 baht per pull on average! Made more in one afternoon than she normally makes all month in Patttaya! Good for her!

Ended up with an average looker who more than made up for it in personality. I personally prefer someone who I know will be fun over a model quality ice queen any day, even though I still love the “trophy hunt!” at times. On the way back to the hotel, told her about the disappointment of no 3some with the college girls the night before. “You want?” she asked, I nodded, and she phoned a friend to come around! She arrived 30 minutes later, and I ended up with a great night! What service! Sometimes, all you gotta do is ask! My original girl was not shy in licking her friend’s sweet pussy, but not the other way around. Still, I wasn’t complaining! Gave them both the standard 1000 Baht next day, plus 300 baht each tip for such good service!

Next few nights followed the same pattern, first time I have actually enjoyed the Navy being in town! Didn’t even venture out hunting until after 11 pm, when the troops were all back asleep! Pulled good ones from Soi Tiger, Soi Sea Dragon and then my called my twosome back for a repeat session! Turns out I am breaking all my rules, must be getting older!

Many girls at Tai Pan disco which is open until after 3 most nights, and when that closes, any girls still not hitched head for Safari disco, about 10 minutes drive south, on the hill towards Karon. This place is full until almost daylight! I think the government is relaxing the rules post Tsunami, in order to help people get back on their feet. It was strictly closing time at 2 am in town and 3 pm at Safari pre Tsunami.

With the Navy gone, all the real pro’s immediately left town, and Patong was back to as before. With “been there, done that” syndrome setting in, I decided to head down to Hat Yai for a few days, not having been for more than a year. Report will continue in that section.

Attached are a few shots from recent activities. Have found that many girls are now very wary of having pics taken, as many know they now end up on the internet. One even knew that her picture was on WSG, her monger had told her(!) and absolutely refused to appear in ant shots, even clothed.

With the presence of the U.S. Navy Phuket is alive and well atleast for the weekend. Women of all shapes and size came here to support the ship. They are also quting insane prices. 2000 Baht for a ST. I thought this girl was crazy. 1000 Baht Tuk-Tuk rides it's crazy here.

Last night I did talk to a very nice nice at one of the beer bars after making serval rounds looking for the right one. She quouted 2000 for ST, but then changed her mind for LT. She was welll worth the 2K and I was surprised when she didn't let the locals try to rip me off on the taxi rides in the area.

visited patong again yesterday.

tourist are back and so are the girls. bangla rd crowded as before and supply well above demand, but mixed quality. found a new area under development. go to the end of bangla road, turn left and follow [CodeWord134] rd 150 meters. they are opening a number of new bars in a new soi (soi sukhumvit!!) opposit of ayudhya bank. next month they will open a disco and later also go go bars according to the bar owners.
there seems to be a party every night with new bars opening. black and white bar is good for italians as the owner speaks the language.

saturday 19.03 thunder bar will have big opening party with lots of horney girls and lots of fun. check out the rotation of the butt of doo when she is making her show, incredible. and 1500 for st, but worth it!

I'm planning a trip to Phuket in April. I'm pretty sure I want to stay near Kata or Karon Beach. Does anyone have an opinion as to which area of these beaches are best for the single (sex) tourist? If anyone has a favorite hotel near these beaches I would like to know that too. Right now I'm thinking of getting a place near Dino Bar and Club Med. I've read elsewhere http://www.phuket.net/phuket_bars.htm that there are bars all over the place. But it sounds like the majority are near the south end of Karon Beach

I stayed in Patong last time and I found it a bit overbuilt and too many people pushing their "buying opportunities."

This time I'm going on a bit of a leap of faith that talent can be found on all the beaches including Karon and Kata.
