Hi all,

I am planning to be in Phuket for a week in April and was hoping to get some recommendations / tips.

1) It seems that Bangla road is where all the action is in Phuket. Is that accurate or are there other / better options (like agencies or indies)?

2) Assuming 1) is true, I am looking to stay near Bangla road but ideally looking to stay at a "nice" place. Are there resorts that are mongering friendly? It doesn't appear to be the case based on the Phuket Hotel sub but would be helpful to know. Currently I am considering staying at the four points by Sheraton resort as that was mentioned in the sub to be guest friendly and it's close to Bangla.

If staying near Bangla is not necessary then I would love to stay somewhere nicer and still be able to monger when I want LOL. Best of both worlds to the extent there are spots like that in Phuket.

Hey all,

Just wanted to thank everyone for the feedback I received, both on the page and PM, on where to stay. I ended up deciding on extending the amount of time to a month and found a nice condo building that fits what I'm looking for this trip, and at a great price. It's just over 1 km from the action and a straight shot. Again, thanks for the feedback. My trip is most of July into the first week of August. I look forward to updating some of my experiences as it's been a while since I've had anything to report. Also, anyone interested in grabbing a drink or mid day meal, send a PM.

Great day with my new fav. Taxied to Paradise Beach and enjoyed good food and drinks at a restaurant with spectacular views. BTW highly suggest using the BOLT driver app. Its cheaper and more accurate than Grab. The price was 3 times less than Grab.

The Gogo scene on Bangla Road is overrated. Yes, it is crowded and noisy. However the energy from the dancers is low and walking around feels like a sauna. IMO the dancers are average-looking but you may encounter a few stunners. The side streets are littered with freelancers that you can bargain to 1000 bhat.

My current and old fav are both available for 12 to 13 hours at 4000 baht. Politely declined as require time to rest up for BKK on Monday but am willing to do 3 hours with 2 shots from my old fav at 2000 baht.

Overall Phuket was a good experience due to the ease of meeting freelancers with many willing to provide cost-efficient pricing. LOL the rules of supply and demand at its finest!

Thanks for the info. Absolute was one of the hotels that I had been looking at. I noticed Airbnb was quite limited. Is there a good area to base myself if I wanted to go the Airbnb route that's still convenient to get back and forth from Bangla? I do like going to the bars but don't pull that often from them. I more prefer soapy massage joints and the likes during the daytime and pulling at night if someone really catches my eye.

Stay away from the 5 star worldwide hotel chains, and clearly family resorts on the beachfront and joiners are no problems.

All the nearby small hotels on Soi Sansabai (across from Soi Bangla) are joiner friendly.

I know many who have stayed at Absolute Bangla Suites and been happy with it.

You won't find any AirBnBs close to Bangla.
