I've got our flight done to phuket. But no hotels yet. The whole sha+ situation really is strange.

I am expecting it to change for the better too! Worst I loose a small deposit on flights.

If anyone around has chanced a look. Are the scuba dive shops in business?

And is there anything stopping me from renting short time rooms while I'm around (even during the quarentine period)? I would imagine the girls to not have their own appartment available?

And I have a PADI dive business in Phuket, as well as being a PADI instructor.

Yes, you can rent short time rooms, they are everywhere.

Most bars outside Patong have their own rooms on the premises.

Bummer if you test positive on day 14 of a 15 day trip. Hmmm.

If sandbox goes to 7 days, test 13 will stop, just arrival and day 6.

350 B is for domestic arrivals by road at the Phuket Checkpoint on the bridge onto Phuket island.

8000 B is for 3 PCR tests (at testing centres), expect this to drop by 1/3rd, maybe more as they are also trying to make the tests cheaper.

So this happened last night. I got a Line message from someone requesting that I add them. It looked like some professional guy in the little pic, so I thought it was the realtor I gave my Line ID to. I add him and open it to find that it is not the realtor. I look at a couple of the pics and I can see it's some guy with the girl I met at sweetie's bar and hung out with a few times (no sex). I was planning to see her when I got back to Patong. I knew she had an ex-boyfriend, so I was pretty put off to be messaged by some girl's ex, especially with my line of work and family situation.

So I sent the girl I met a quick message asking what was up and letting her know I would need to drop her. She tells me it's her boyfriend and it's because she gave him her old phone and the Line IDs were still on it. I am now thinking she is BSing me because 1) she told me she was seeing a woman and didn't have a boyfriend, and 2) why would he need to add my ID by phone number if my ID was already on her phone. So I point out those two things and say I have to block her, but then she says the guy in the picture is actually her GF and she is a tomboy. And that the phone sent an add request to her entire list of friends and customers. I didn't know what to believe at that point, so I just blocked them both. I figured it was safer that way, though I think I believe her after the messages and a closer inspection of his pics. She kept saying, "I promise you it's OK."

I think I was a little on edge with the Thai girl thing because I'm 99% sure one girl was recording our conversation the other day. She acted like it was an accident, but.

I forget the exact cost, but I think I remember it being around $220 for the 3 tests total. It's not insignificant.

I can't speak to the hotel situation as I only know where I have stayed and don't know the smaller areas well. But I can say something about the covid tests. You are supposed to be tested on day 6 or 7 of the sandbox, so you would just need to set up your scheduled test for day 6. Where you might run into an issue is getting your certificate on day 7. I took my 2nd test on day 14 and I didn't get my certificate until day 16. Fortunately, I was staying a few extra days, so it wasn't an issue. That said, I don't think anyone is going to check and, if they do, I think you can explain. You could then maybe have your first hotel send the certificate to the 2nd hotel by email or whatever. I moved to another town and nobody checked to see if I had a sandbox certificate. I'm in a condo so maybe a hotel will check, but I think you can explain the situation if it doesn't arrive in time. I also had some trouble because my hotel booked my tests for me, so the slowness of my certificate may have been caused by me not being in the system. They had to make a phone call to find me each time I went for a test.

I submit that her usual service level is pretty bad. Based on the details you cited it sure seems like it (no DFK, no BBBJ, etc).

However, it was the fact that you inadvertantly "ignored" her messages and, shockingly, kept a Thai girl, a Thai hooker at that, waiting 15 WHOLE MINUTES that put a little fire under her butt to throw herself into it with passion, perhaps one of the reasons she eventually pulled off the condom. But these things matter and, like I said, anger will quickly turn me off completely. The fact that we had a really nice chat for 45 minutes and she seemed quite different from other Thai girls I have met is the only thing that saved the session. She was a bit of a strange bird, for sure. The actual fucking was fantastic, but all the side stuff of foreplay and intimacy was really not there. After getting my head round the upcoming 7+7 sandbox rules (still confused on some aspects), I can't figure where to stay. Any help would be appreciated.

Looking for a hotel / resort with a great pool and beach access to keep the wife happy, ideally modern design. We never stay in Patong, too loud and concrete for the both of us. But we do still want some life around, restaurants and stuff, and not be confined to the resort.

- The Novotel in Kamala falls right in budget and gets decent reviews. Anyone here with 1st hand experience? Last we were in phuket (Nov'19 enroute to Lanta) I noticed that the whole kamala area was one big construction site. Its probably still the same? Does it interfere?

- Kata vids on youtube are showing Kata as totally dead.

- Sandbox rules say I need to be in Phuket for 7 days before I can move, and hotel would need to issue release certificate? (wow) Stating guest have stayed for 7 nights / days.

So a little more reading and recent travel blogs seem to suggest that NaiHarn and Rawai are pretty much up and about as usual. Which is great, cause we have never explore Phuket that down south! And I'm reading that NaiHarn is a reall nice beach.

I'm still struggling to find an in budget SHA+ property which I'm liking. Its all a bit pricier it seem in the south. The NaiHarn is expensive, but maybe I can splurge if convinced its worth it. Even though I am looking at resorts (mostly for a decent pool), we're always wary of resorts / chains. Having stayed extensively for work, there is always that element of cheesy instead of classy that often creeps in. Like restaurant or pool entertainment in the evenings.

The NaiHarn beach resort (Not the Nai Harn) seems like the best bet around here. Unless there is something in Rawai.

I'm reading the picking are good in Rawai too? I'm hoping ill get a couple of afternoon or late night soujourns during my stay. Lets see how that goes.

Patong is good, but the beaches south are better, and the vibe more relaxed.

When they raided Patong and closed Bangla they left Rawai alone.

That does make some sense. I am fine with it happening once. If it happens twice, I won't deal with it unless I have a history with the person. Once you accept that, and live the same way, it all makes some sense.

Also, you have to consider Thai'ness.

Thais will do and say anything to avoid losing face, being embarrassed or proven wrong.

If they can't do what you want, they will still say yes in some way, and then often just not do it, IE the taxi.

You can then blow them off if you wish, but the next Thai girl will likely be the same.

But, if you accept it, and just try again next time, then often that or the third time works a charm.

To me this is why TF girls contacted online and made dates with are such a let down.

You can never be sure they will turn up as other things and events can get in the way.

It's why I always picked up girls in the here and now moment, in a bar, or a massage.

Leaving with them, as if you're in their face and space, they focus on you, and stay focused.

Check out Karon Sea Sands Resort at Karon beach. Was there in 2019 (BC) with my wife. Had a room with pool access, very nice and just a short walk to the beach. Plenty of resturants and massage places. Quieter than Patong but much more action than Kamala or Kata.

Karon is dead, a ghost town.
