Just seen this: https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand...phuket-sandbox.
I have a friend in Ching Rai who lives in CR who tells me that all the members of his group are now in 14 day hotel quarantine. The Thai medicos are also testing close contacts of the infected man based on the plane seating plan.
This is the risk we take. It only needs one person near to you to become infected and everything is ruined.

Honestly, stay somewhere else. If Patong, somewhere closer into the action. If I come back after my brief sojourn in the UK, I'll be staying somewhere else.
I wouldn't have thought PRC tests are included in the hotel rate unless specified. They're a standard 8000 thb for the three you require. (Just done my second this morning.).
Only tracking is 'Morchana' track and trace ap. Only thing I have to do is let the hotel scan the barcode on it once a day, at my convenience. If you had property out her, or wanted to stay at a friend or girlfriend's, it would be perfectly possible to book the cheapest SHA+ hotel and just swing by once a day.

Posts: 492You will be able to transit thru bkk when the new sand boxes in the other islands open in a week or two. They will not have direct flights.

I have a flight in November to BKK. Tried today to switch the ingoing flight to HKT, when I discovered that there are only a tiny number of flights arriving in HKT via Europe or the US.

I'm planning to keep my BKK flight and hope for the best.

Posts: 166Didn't think booking a flight could be so difficult,
Just spent 4 hours searching for a flight. Didn't think it could be so hard. Virtually all the bucket shops were mainly showing only flights that were transiting through BKK so these were non starters. Those that were not, had either the outward or inward flights in the 30+ hour range, with long layovers. I'm too old for that game.
Eventually plumped for Qatar Airways with stops at LHR and Doha. It took 5 attempts to pay for the ticket. One failed because of CC probs. The wife who is currently at home in Japan, made two online purchases one for €700 and one for €10. The CC company thought the 10 was suspicious so they phoned her. However, she will not pick up the phone if someone calls her from Ireland unless she recognises the number. She doesn't want to pay the €2 per minute charge for receiving the call, so the bank blocked the card. By the time I got the prob sorted, the price had gone up from €670 to €744. So much for my wife saving 2.
I made another three attempts, and each one timed out. That meant restarting and by the time I got to the 4th attempt, it had risen to €805. Eventually, I retarded my start / finish dates by one day each, and got a flight for €654.
At the end, there was the customary survey to rate the booking experience. I gave it one star. They then offered a drop-down menu to list the possible complaints. First option was "speed of site / page loading times". That leads me to believe that they must be aware of the prob, but haven't bothered to fix. If there'd been another convenient option, I would have booked elsewhere. I will say to QA's credit though, that the refund policy is very good. You can cancel up to 3 hrs before take-off and get a full refund. My lucks been cursed recently and I am just waiting for something to go wrong.
I've been reading that they intend to fully reopen TH on July 15th, I was just thinking that of the sandbox scheme works out in Phuket and Samui, it might be a good idea to keep the restrictions in those two places. If they need to shut down again, at least those two places should then be able to stay open.

Posts: 6308Thanks for your reports, J Janni.
Care to share with me via PM which SHA+ hotel you're staying at? Sounds like a winner tipping the workers a few hundred baht and they turn the other cheek for girls coming in and out.
I assume there is no tracking device for the Phuket sandbox as they discussed before?
I like the fact that the SHA+ hotels are booked directly through booking.com. No jacked up hotel rates. Are the COVID tests included in the SHA+ hotel rates? Sounds like you have lots of freedom and there are at least a couple bars open.

I have the money and at 1500 baht, there's no negotiation which I hate. Just 'yes.' I've never been fucked by a paid for girl like the last three girls have fucked me, except a SB in London who I payed far more than 1500 baht!
If I was a 'machinefun monger' trying to get 3 and 4 girls a day, I'd be wanting to pay less. I'm quite happy with one long, quality session.
