A good golf tour company, Chiangmaigolftours, has a big tournament in Pattaya in June and another in Chiang Mai / Chiang Rai (Tee off Cup) in October. Good bunch of guys from everywhere. A few guys live in CM and other guys have been going there for years.

I don't remember the street names of the brothels, but any moto taxi driver will take you there and if you don't like one street, they will happily ferry you to the next- in the hopes of receiving a commission.

Thank you Syz and Nyezhov for the responses. I have been wanting to go to Ko Lanta, Ko Phangan, Ko Chang, Ko Tao, or Ko Samet. Been to Samui, Krabi, and Patong already. I'm a little nervous about Tao after reading about the killings there. I want a place with some girls and decent weather in July. I would want tyo stay in the most active part of the island--nothing remote. I stay away from weed in Thailand (frightened about getting reported) but enjoy it in the USA Thank you California! Maybe it would be safe to do that on one of these islands.

My fav Ko in SEA would be Ko Ko Mo's. It does have girls, and there is a beach (club) just down the street. Sadly, I am woefully uninformed about outback Thailand. Be careful out thre!

On Ko Tao no good swimmable beaches, only rocky beaches. Also on Ko Tao: no public transport below 400 baht per ride per person! Snorkelling very good only at Ao Leuk and White House, otherwise coral 80 to 100 percent dead. Diving very good everywhere from what I've heard. Happy shakes available. Didn't see any night life on Ko Tao.

I found the coral okay For snorkelling at Ngam Yuan and Ao Hin Wong also but agree south end of island was best. Its essential to be there in the right season.

I would probably stay away given the excessive corruption levels on the Island that required the police to alter evidence and frame those poor Burmese guys for the murders. Thailand tries to maintain its illusion of justice, to avoid decimating tourism. Just means I would get a creepy feeling to be there.

Koh Tao is quite difficult to get to and very far. Had a rough bad weather boat trip and sea-sick. Not for mongering. I would give it a miss simply because Koh Phi Phi and Krabi is easier to get to. For a better nature place, in the south Koh Lipe and Adang is actually nicer. Satun (sounds like Sa-dtoon) province fly to Hat Yai. Not many Americans there, mainly Scandinavian types. Even some nice Swedish girls.

Ko Chang gets a lot of rain overall, more so in the rainy season. I read something on the web to the effect that Ko Chang could have dangerous rip currents in the rainy season. A good idea then would be to book a resort with a huge swimming pool, like KC Resort on White Sand Beach. Trekking through the island (only if you're fit) and Tree Top Climbing are fun. Good snorkelling around Ko Rang (full-day speed boat trip, forget the half-day one). Happy shakes at Lonely Beach.

That's the hassle with Koh Chang, 100 baht bahtbusses down the main drag back and forth and don't think you aren't getting bent over if you are out partying in Lonely Beach and need to go to White Sands. And only a loony rides an MC there.
