Interesting but the article has some things wrong:

If the HIV virus gets into the product, the condom will block it, prevent it replicating, and prevent entry (from the body).

If I remember it well, the HIV retrovirus cannot replicate outside of the (human) body. Its replication is extremely complicated and needs a living organism to supply all the bits and pieces necessary.

Let's hope it is just the journalist that has totally misunderstood the scientists.

The anti-oxidant (in the condom) will enhance neurotransmitters which will work with nerve endings, giving greater sexual pleasure.

It is Pre exposure prophylaxis against HIV which is approved by US FDA and is effective for more than 95%.

Truvada (Tenofovir300 MG + Emtricitabine 200 MG) for MSM and Inj. Users or Tenofovir 300 alone for heterosexual males and females.

Many of those anti HIV meds have major side effects, basically feeling significantly sick for weeks. Doctors wouldn't advise taking PEP unless your risk was significant, for instance having been exposed to fluids of an HIV patient, shared a needle with a bunch of injecting drug users, or had unprotected anal sex with a promiscuous person.

Not sure how serious PrEP side effects are, but doubt it's something so mild you'd care to take it just in case a condom breaks. In real world use, a bit of lubricant (KY Jelly) could provide better protection: preventing the breakage to begin with, with zero side effects apart from increased comfort.

Sagami. 02's can be purchased in BKK. Boots carries them and has the "Large" size. The Durex Comfort are not bad, although getting harder to find.

I'm looking for a condom with a large flange at the base to cover the pubic area. The commonly available ones on eBay have the model with the small flange. You're right, they don't have a ring, but supposedly the extra material stays in place since the condom is tight. There is a Chinese condom that is only available in China with a flange and a ring. It is called the GoldCannon. When the Origami condom goes into production it will have a flange.

Thank-you Breadman for your input. I wasn't aware you had used them so extensively. I think the problem with polyethylene and polyurethane condoms is that they don't stretch, so it's difficult to get the correct size (width).

I also like the polyisoprene material used in the Lifestyles Skyn condoms. They have some stretch and there is a large size available. There is also the Durex Real Feel made from the same material.

I guess I will have to wait for the Origami condom to get one with a flange. I think those will be very expensive.
