What do you think about STD clinics in Thailand? I plan to go to Thailand in two months.

I was diagnosed with late latent syphilis 10 years ago (csf vdrl and rpr negative and tpha positive). I only remember having an ulcer on my mouth 20 years ago but thought it was trauma ulcer or canker. I got tested last week, TPHA and FTA are negative. Does it mean I lost my immunity to treponema?

Anyone with past syphilis?

Is it painful to have injections in Thailand when you catch gonorrhea or syphilis? What are the best clinics?

The pain can be reduced by adding lignocaine.

You were treated in the past just as a precaution 1 injection once a week for 3 weeks.

You lose immunity overtime. Vdrl becomes negative after few years and tpha becomes negative after many years with or without treatment. The treponemal quantity lowers overtime but for some people it's positive for life. FTA-ABS becomes positive earlier after infection but remain positive longer than vdrl. One third of people with past untreated late latent syphilis have negative tpha. Negative csf vdrl excludes neurosyphilis. Syphilis tests are very complicated because you need many tests to confirm the diagnosis. Syphilis ulcers can happen anywhere in your body without you noticing it, many people don't know how they caught syphilis. You can't have secondary syphilis without developping primary syphilis in the past but you can have primary syphilis without developping secondary syphilis. But I have never seen any syphilis ulcer in the mouth, it's possible but very rare, that's why I consider oral sex as a low risk for any std.

About std clinics in Thailand, I don't know.
