Does it make sense to get a cheap hotel room (and stay at a different, good hotel) to take girls to where they are allowed and nothing can be stolen? Also I would like to rent a motobike in Ho Chi Minh; reading reports I didn't quite get it, does it cost 5 dollars to get a local license or is it 5 dollar bribe if you get pulled over by police? The girl will know about a cheap hotel room. Just go where she suggests. They have condoms and what not there. It's safe and stress free.

As for the motor bike, the $5 is for bribes. Very few westerners have a license so the cops tend to pull you over. The will ask for a lot more than that. It gets into a game of how long you can be bothered to stand there arguing to how much you give them.

Personally I think that if you are visiting Saigon and driving a scooter you are nuts. It's not like the real world.

It starts to get hot in April with the hottest around July / August with high humidity. It is not fun to stay in HCM city all the time with that weather. There are many day trips that worth seeing and get you out of town. Vung Tau is a seaside town with many massage-hotel for 10 USD ticket and $50 USD per girl FS. The mangrove forest and see you Chi tunnels are also worthy day trips to see with your girl.

I did that a couple months ago, brought a girl from HCMC to Singapore, paid the ticket, gave her $500 for 6 days and bought her a few gifts, took her to some of the sited, food and we stayed at a nice hotel. Now she is more of a GF than a P4P, but that worked out well.

Ouch. From your photos it does seem like they're a bit higher standard than typical here. Ones that look like that try to charge $100 at clubs here for ST, $150 I ghuess LT; but they can be negotiated down. Problem is you are coming from another country so you'll have to pretend you know the going rates. Some guys here will say they can get way cheaper than that, and its true, but surely those ones would be rougher looking than what's in your pics, flawed in some way or other. Check a website like banhmy dot us to get a sampling of prices. I've seen ones who look like yours go for about 1 point five million on those sites, you blocked the faces so I can't be totally sure but if they are 9 or 10 face then yeah, about that price, maybe as low as 700,000. And that's a locals website for locals.

The offerings here are in bad shape right now. As a foreigner the "HBT" bars (read forum please for locations) are very easy. Prices are something like one million 500 for a ST. Used to be much cheaper. But the number on offer is way wya down in quantity and quality from just a couple yrs ago. Clubs like Apocalypse Now are another spot to check out. The Go2 bar on Bui Vien after midnight is another. But don't come expecting anything close to Bangkok here.

What do you think would be a reasonable offer to them for LT? Or to maybe spend a few days with me on a trip to the seaside?

Also, how to avoid the overnight restrictions? Maybe I could rent an apartment or something? How worried should I be about Johnnie Law throwing me in the Hanoi Hilton if I have a girl sleepover?

I'd also like the check out the local scene. The girls must be stunning. But from RTFF it seems like the local P4 P scene is kind of a hassle. Quickies at Hot Tocs are not really my thing.

I think that if they are working the trade in vietnam, they are now getting the going rate, that's just simple economics. If you give them more, then they will expect more from every one else, or just think of you as an easy touch. If they say no then counter with the carrot " if you are really hot in bed etc then I will give you a nice tip" that often works for me. Tips, after all, does stand for "To Insure Proper Servicing" doesn't it? Haha.

They do look very lovely, if they are ok with it, perhaps you can share their digits in p m.

I am no expert in Vietnam but from my experience there. The long time rate I would say would be $1,281,900,00 which would be $60 USD. This would be for long time. But, because I know many Vietnamese and understand how they think in general. I guarantee they expect that you will pay the high rates you have paid them in other countries. Vietnam although I can understand is scary he first time. Is extremely safe and in my own experiences is extremely easy to find girls. You need to check with your hotel in person before you pay for your room or make a deal with the girl. From my understanding it is illegal for a woman not your wife to stay over. I never tried having a girl staying over for the record.

Does anyone have info on if and how a US guy can get a moto license in HCMC? I currently have a valid US license with motorcycle endorsement.

Two of my friends turned in their driver's license in exchange for a Vietnamese driver's license and paid about $10, no testing.

I was quoted by a visa agent a driver's license for about $250 because I don't have a current valid license with no testing.

In some cases you only need the driving test to get a license. Other cases you need to do the written and driving test. I've heard stories that you can cheat on the writing test somehow.

Cops also recognize international licenses too.

Does anyone have info on if and how a US guy can get a moto license in HCMC? I currently have a valid US license with motorcycle endorsement.

Currently the law would allow for you to get your car license translated and converted into a Vietnamese license which would also allow you to ride a motorbike. It would have the same validity as your Residence Card or Visa. Once you had this license, you would be able to take the practical motorbike test, without having to take the theory test and then obtain a motorbike license that would be permanently vaild.

That said, recent news articles have stated that the law will be changing in 2015 so that foreign drivers licenses will be recognised in Vietnam after having gone through translation, since Vietnam has recently signed up to the Vienna Accord to allow Vietnamese citizens to get a International Drivers Permit to use overseas. They will be trialling the new system in HCMC and Hanoi according to news reports. I haven't seen any more details released yet, you will need to search around. But it may be in your interest to hold off and wait for the new system to be announced.

I don't know anymore than I have read on the news sites, so I would suggest, doing a bit of research on the internet and using local contacts to try to find out about the new procedures.
