Well because of the Tuoi Tre online article in regards to this site, it has now been shut down. The website now states the following:

"Uu Tien Cong An Viet Nam Va Cac Nha Bao the Viet Ve ALauXanh (&272; UC PHU. VU ANH. TUONG MY).

Cam On Cac Nha Bao &272; a Gop Phan Giup Blog Noi Tieng!"

"Priority to the Viet Nam police and journalists who wrote about ALauXanh Site (Names of people).

Thank you journalists who made the blog famous!"

The site is now for sale: $1million USD.

    DAAAAAAAMMMMNNNNN!

An interesting article found on Tuoi Tre Newspaper online about an online ring of escorts. The site says they do not rep the girls and make no money off of you seeing the girls, however you are required to pay a membership fee which entitles you to get the girls phone numbers. Site lists the girls by price or by area. Prices are 200k vnd to 1mil vnd per "shot". The site has pictures, measurements of the girls, and a mini review of the girls performance.

Yes, taxis do have meters. The trick is to only use reliable taxi companies like Vinasun or Me Linh. Fares are very cheap. Typically 20, 000 to 30, 000 VND ($1-$1. 50) for a trip within District 1.

Avoid all others. Many smaller companies will have "fixed" meters that will overcharge.

Watch out for taxis that have names and colour schemes similar to the more reputable ones. For example, I've seen a "Vinasum" taxi.

I tried the earwax removal at a hole-in-the-wall place near Bui Vien street. 30. 000 dong. Meh, doesn't do anything for me at all.

Typically, Asians have the dry type of earwax, while Caucasians and Africans are likely to have the wet type. Due to this physical difference, we may not enjoy it as much as Asians do.

If they mess it up (unlikely, but happens) , there could be health consequences, from perforated ear drums to infections (they don't keep the tools sterile and it's sharp).

Thanks for the response guys. Yeah, when I go to Vietnam, I think I will be a guinea pig.

But actually, it is referred to as Earwax Removal. The cost is included with a haircut at every barbershop operated by Vietnamese ladies.

    Cheers.

The atrocious butchering of the English language by the Vietnamese news media website in the above article aside, and coming from a 4-year Singaporean expat in HCMC such as myself, yes.

Don't they have meters in taxis? There is a problem of over-charging foreign tourists in Thailand but all it takes to avoid it is a bit of vigilance and at least a general idea how much stuff should cost. Regarding taxis it's just about "meter?". If no meter, no taxi. Doesn't the same work in Vietnam?

    Excessive overcharge?

    Visa info.

Visa on arrival is only good at the two major airports. Almost everyone can get it but make sure to apply for letter ahead of time. You can not just fly in and get it at airport, just google visa on arrival vietnam and pay for the service, you'll get a copy of acceptance letter which will be redeemed at airport for actual visa. It can not be used at regular border crossing.

Just get it in Phnom Penh, pay a bit extra and you can have it on same day.

As far as I know there is no embassy in Sihanoukville so if you try to apply there they'll have to send it over to Phnom Penh.

    What about Ukriane people? Visa-on-arrival?

You will have to get your Vietnamese Visa at the VNese embassy in Phnom Penh.
If you are looking for multiple entries or longer term visas (6 or 12 months), they are cheapest in Cambodia. No need to go to the consulate. In PP many guest houses and travel agents will do normally within 2 days. If you don't have a photo, they scan the one in your passport for 1$ extra.
I believe the visas are not issued in PP, but in Sihanoukville.
