i would say stick with your trip to vietnam. unless you plan on pooning everyday, and want better service with the girls.

but you want to experience the culture, people, food, on a budget and you are 50+ of age. i would think vietnam would be better for this your trip and by reading the posts here some still have great experiences with the girls so you will get everything that you have listed. haven't been back to vietnam for about 10 years now i'll be there in about 2 weeks but been to thailand 8 months ago, and all i enjoyed there are the women pretty much and the beach. maybe just fly to bkk the ticket isn't that expensive for a round trip.

thanks for the replies. i did more research on thailand an long the suggestion, and one thing i don't like is the 'in your face' aspect of thailand as well as the sheer number of mongers there. i also ike the thrill of the hunt.

i am just not sure of the other areas i should target in my stay in vietnam. i have rtff extensively. i know many viets here in california so i am going to ask them for some help and see if they can hook me up with some of thier relatives to help out. might still try to scam me, but i usually have a pretty good sense for such.

i just want to experience the viet women, food, people and culture. but at a decent price. thanks agian for the help.

I'd rebook your ticket and go to Thailand. Way more friendlier women, hotels etc. You will have no problem with women over there, here you run the risk of crap service, scams, thefts etc

I am not new to ISG, but have just created this new account. I am looking for some advice and feedback on my plan to visit Vietnam. I am able to take about 4 weeks off in Sept / Oct and am looking for the best suggestion on a low cost trip to Asia. I have been to Hong Kong, but no where else in Asia before. I believe I have settled on Vietnam, as I really want to visit the country to experience the culture, people food and women.

I'the like to keep things really cheap, but at the same time am now 50 years old and used to having a clean safe room, eat decent local (non touristy) food. I have read the Board extensively – my usual plan to is to meeting someone local that I think I can trust (taxi driver, people from a local pub, waiters etc) an get them to help me find out about the scene.

If you have 4 weeks to spend in Vietnam, were on a budget and wanted to see some of the provinces as well as Hanoi and Saigon, where would you go? I don't know any Vietnamese but am going to begin taking a course so at least I can say a few things. If you think Vietnam should not be my country of destiniation, I'd like to understand any alternatives.
