2. Motorcycle girls are abundant in the old quarter at night I have not tried any because I don't want them to determine where I go. But they are real and I have seen.

Send SMS text message to a girl to ask for a date.

If available, the girl will reply with a hotel name and address. She will meet you there.

Reply to tell what time you can come to the hotel.

Go to the hotel and book a room for 1 hour (VND 50 k-100 k / hour, about USD 3-5/ hour, pay when you check out, you can casually extend the hour), then send another message to let her know the room number.

She will come promptly, have fun. You pay for the shot, not for the time, so no need to rush.

After having fun, pay the girl the price as listed there (on average VND 300 k-500 k / shot, about USD 15-25).

7. Red Light Districts.

Sex in Hanoi red-light district is cheap and openly available. When the night comes, hundreds of girls put on sexyoy clothes to show off and sell their bodies at red-light cafes on many roads. These red-light districts in Hanoi are:

Phan Dang Luu road in Gia Lam district is only several meters long but it has been known for years as a hot spot for prostitution. I just wanted to give a warning that I was robbed in one of the massage places in the Hanoi area last week.

First of all I thought I was being pretty careful in the past and that while it was a risk it wouldn't really happen to me.

What happened:

I went into a taxi wanting to go to Emperor Men's Spa (Which I should have done.) but the Taxi driver told me he could take me to a place where I could have sex with the women (which is not allowed in emperors) so being horny and stupid I listened to him.

He took me to the place, a man greeted me and shook my hand. I insisted on seeing the girls before I agreed to anything, so about 6 different girls walked past and I picked one of them. We agreed on a price of 1 million dong (which is a bit pricey, but my prior misconception was that if you play straight, give them money and don't cause trouble they won't cause it for you.).

I got in to the room and the girl took my clothes off and started to give me a massage, I told her we don't need to do the massage part lets get down to business, she said "do massage first" (which should have been a warning sign for me). Anyway, she put some cream on, gave me a really bad massage for 15 minutes, then pointed to my dick, I asked "Boom Boom?" she said ok give me tip, I gave her 500.000 dong. She kept her clothes and started giving me a hand job, and I moved in for more which she refused. I told her but we said "boom boom" and she kept denying it. I said this is too expensive for a hand-job, I'm not interested in that, can I have half of my money back and leave? (Which I did not expect to get by the way). She said "ok, wait here" and left the room. I got dressed in the meantime, and after about a minute 4 men entered my room and demanded that I pay more money. I asked why? I already gave you 1 million and 500.000 for the girl and I didn't get anything. They then proceeded to get closer and more intimidating stating that I had to pay for the cream she used for the massage and that I owed them 2 million dong more, which I didn't have on me. I pretty much emptied my wallet which was 300.000 dong more and this wasn't really enough for them and the situation got very very uncomfortable with them shouting that I had to give them dollars. Fortunately for me I had a little bit of foreign currency (about 300.000 dong more equivalent) that I gave them which seemed to satisfy them and they let me leave.

It feels like it could have gone a lot worse for me, and they didn't get away with too much money from me (like 100 USD in total?), what was worse was the feeling of helplessness you got when 4 pretty big men surrounding you in there when you were looking to have some fun.

So yeah, my misconception was that I thought as long as you were nice and generous it would just be easier for them to give you what you paid for instead of causing trouble for you.

I'm attaching a picture of the area in Hanoi where this happened, the store had a big yellow massage sign with maybe blue (text if I remember correctly. I wasn't that impressed with Vietnam to this point (I prefer Thailand 10 xx) this was probably the event that made me decide never to return there.
