I thought it worth while letting you lads know about my recent visit to Do Son which is the nearest beach resort to Hanoi. Been doing this for years in HN and HCMC at a range of hotels (no star to 5 star) and never a problem. At one 4 star place in HCMC they asked for a marriage certificate, we said we didn't always carry it (who would) and that would have it faxed.

A lot depends on the VN gal, if she looks respectable and confident, then should not be a problem.

Try the small single frontage hotels in the old town area. Places like Heart Hotel and others nearby should still be OK.

Wanting to do similar in HCMC. We can PM for favorite hotels in each place. But generally the three star hotels here have been very flexible.
