A few more massage places. Hanoi is pretty full of them. I got this information from a Vietnamese site. Nothing to write home about:

Oasis Hotel (right across the street from the Fortuna): Massage place on 4th floor. 90, 000 for the hr massage. Girl Ok, maybe a 5/6. Probably high-end flocks to Fortuna either for massage or Boss nightclub. Tipped 100, 000 after HJ. She tried to extort more, showing me the phony receipt book with receipts for 500, 000.

Massage place at 35 Chau Long, a street away from Truc Back Lake: When I walked in, they showed me a sign for $10/hr. I know the price was 100, 000 from the Vietnamese site. I flipped the sign around and sure enough it said 100, 000 (Vietnamese price). I should have walked as I don't appreciate the 2-tiered pricing structure. They quickly backed away and said, oh, OK, you speak Vietnamese, discounted prices for you. I did the massage for 100, 000. Woman was 4/5, fairly skilled at massage, was happy to do HJ. Gradually making my way through the massage parlors. Tried the one on the fourth floor of the hotel at 146 Giang Vo. 90,000 for hour massage. Not top-of-the-line but not awful either. I went once, and it was a bit too "earthy' for me. I think that they wanted 1,000,000 (since I am Western), and I recall going for 500,000, which was way too high for the value given, even considering everything.

Tried Esalen Massage, 6 Nghi Tam, Tay Ho, kitty corner from the Sofitel. 150, 000 entrance, including massage, shower, sauna, jacuzzi. Reasonably clean, good massage rooms but with the viewing window. 2 cops standing guard outside, so owner's connected. No choice of girl but they all seemed young and attractive. Some female clients also using the facility. Girl did a decent massage but annoyed me with pestering for excessive tip for HJ at the end (I'm a Viet speaker).
