Just to share my experience on my trip to Hanoi. I was on a business trip and stayed at Hilton Hanoi Opera and went on a hunt in a club called Apocalypse Now. Good music (of all varieties) and the music would pick-up later on into some dance music. The club was filled with people (rather young crowd).

Picked this girl up called Nguyen (I think half of the Vietnamese population has this name) after exchanging loads of smiles. Quote USD150 for a pop but negotiated for USD100 for 3 hours = 2 pops! This is a fun venue, not brightly signed outside. It’s a big bar, with a band behind the bar. Bargirls are pretty good looking, very fuckable. Every now and then, a group of girls would appear from a side door and drift across the bar area. It seemed to me that this was an organised activity to show as many girls as possible to the few customers present.

At about 11, a band came on stage and put on a great performance, it was a pity there were so few paying customers.

As time went by, closer to closing time, and there were very few customers, more girls approached me to take them for a ST, and pay. A couple months ago I went to Hanoi, where I stayed in the Melia. This is not a good place for mongering. They have signs strictly forbidding guests to take people to their rooms. The best you could hope for is to take a girl to the club, and from there, sneak her to your room. I checked out the club, and it was totally lame. The hotel keeps local talent out.

I also checked out the massage. They have a very good massage place, but the girl refused to give me a special massage. I then learned that for a higher price (US$35) you can have a massage in your room. I hoped that the lack of privacy in their massage parlour was the reason for the refusal. Alas, no. So on my last night, I set off determined to find something. On every corner, young men on motorbikes offered to take me to bars, girls, but I was not comfortable with that. Then two girls pulled up near the hotel on a motorbike. They said they had a hotel close by, and the price was $35, including the room. I said no at first. But then I decided to take the risk. Luckily I gave the matter some thought. I left all my valuables in the hotel, bringing only enough cash for the deal, with 100,000 Vietnamese Dong (US$6) spare in my back pocket for an emergency taxi.

I went out and within 5 minutes they found me again. I squeezed in between them. It was great fun riding through seedy parts of town on a motorbike squeezed in between two working girls. But I realized how totally vulnerable I was, and realized this was probably not a good idea.

We went to a hotel and I paid 100,000 Dong for the room. I had the honour being her first customer of the night. The girl was slender, but in better light did not look great. She had strange patches on her arm and thigh, making me wonder if she were a drug addict hiding needle marks. The deed was over quickly. Then she wanted to give me a massage, but I felt ill at ease with this girl in a seedy hotel far from my own. So I asked to be taken back and promised to come back the next day for a longer session.

Just ended my trip. You are correct. Hanoi sucks. And Da Nang is just as bad. Most of Vietnam has almost no monger action, and the little it has is too expensive. Also, the beaches in Vietnam are not nearly as beautiful as advertised - most I have seen are mediocre.

I was told by a friend that there is similar setup in Bao Son Hotel - a supposedly 4 stars hotel with nightclub downstair of the hotel, just like the Boss Club in Fortuna Hotel.

But the venue is more catering to locals thus price is a level lower than those at Fortuna.

Has anyone tried this place?

Will appreciate sharing any experience here...
