Unfortnately looks like the good old days of 200 k BJs in this ST are coming to an end. Drove past today and 50-60 % of the places were closed and many of the remainder had the signs removed. Maybe because north Tulium district has just been upgraded to an inner city district they no longer allow such cheap entertainment. An old friend there said the police were causing many problems and shuting the ST down. Its a pity because there's nothing else like it in Hanoi.

It looks like Athena1's report is accurate. I went for a scouting mission here yesterday evening. There were only a few places still open and only 1 or 2 still with signage out to boot. I ended up going to a place I haven't been before. Pretty girl waving me in before that pulled a bait and switch on me and got a dumpy girl with crap technique to do the deed. I went with it as due to the lack of other available options. She asked for 500 k and agreed to 300 k in the end.

Hopefully the area will pick up again. I remember this street went very quiet in a similar fashion just after the PVD shut-down only to recover later.

In foreign countries, you should never go with any girls to their homes or hotels. It's usually a set up. I've known a few guys who got talked into goping into a dark alley where they were beaten by a few thugs and robbed of everything.

I'd heard a bad rap about them but against my better judgement I was swayed into going with a early 40/ late 30 average looking woman for 20 US dollars. She took me to her hotel, and then said that it will only be BJ as low price. Whatever, I thought. She tried but I wasn't really attracted and just couldn't come. Anyhow, on go the pants and I realise my phone is gone. Now, I'm an idiot because I have everything, my entire life there and not backed up, and so I'm now freaking out, accusing her of taken it. She protests and then gets angry saying she will call police if I don't leave. I'm panic stricken, and keep arguing. Finally, I calm down and ask to make a call using her phone. She's obviously very stupid, because I call my phone and here it ringing and follow the ring to see it buried deep in some linen in some other room. Now I freak out and I know she stole it, she locks the room and demands more money.

To cut a long story short, I managed to get out intact and it's my stupidity for going with this woman having read previous reports. I'd give her kudos for her deftness at stealing the phone without my knowing it even though I was very wary. I'd encourage you to avoid these girls no matter what. To paraphrase Bon jovi, they give fuck a bad name.

I regret my stupidity and if you repeat my mistake you will get screwed, in the wrong way. You've been warned.

To be honest the answer to that question has more to do with your budget than availability of options. Hanoi is not spread out like HCMC and so even with the traffic, nowhere is too far away.

You basically have two choices; The Old Quarter or Westlake. If you're budget concious then there are plenty of options ranging from dirt cheap to mid-range available to you, if you are more business budget traveller then there are a few more up-market options around Westlake. There are plenty of massage options within walking distance of both areas and only a short distance between the areas themselves.

I'd suggest looking on something like trip advisor to choose which hotel you want to stay at and read back through the forum with Google Maps open to look up streest to see if you have a preference for one area or the other.

I have been visiting Hanoi since a very long time and except earlier times P4 P is difficult and Boss at Fortuna Hotel hit or miss.

I now found a new way to meet girls: first you meet Vietnamese girls in Singapore, Malaysia or Jakarta. Ask their phone numbers and ask them a recommendation and the phone numbers of their friends in Hanoi or HCMC.

This worked in Hanoi and my 5 star hotel was entirely girl friendly even late at night. The girl did not do P4 P in Hanoi and was very happy.
