I have recently left Hanoi and wanted to share my experiences there. I was there for some time and learned a little bit of Vietnamese and had my own place, which definitely helped.

I had quite a few good experiences using internet services. Tagged and Vietnam Cupid are good for freebies. You do need to pay to become a member on Vietnam Cupid to be able to see sent and received messages. In my opinion it is well worth it. With the girls on Vietnam Cupid be prepared to put in a bit of time and effort though. I signed up when I booked my ticket to Hanoi and started talking to a few girls straight away. If they didn't speak very good English, they'd be quoting in Dong. I personally think $100 is far too much to be paying, so I would never respond to those girls.
