For Hanoi Hotel, the stairs up to the bar is right next to the lobby desk. At the Fortuna, the bar is in the basement, there are some stairs down near the elevators next to the window, but there are no signs or anything. Action at Fortuna starts at 6, while the girls show up at Hanoi Hotel bar around 8pm. In both cases, somebody will seat you at the bar and then ask if you want a girl to join you. They will present about 7 girls to choose from, feel free to ask for more as there are hundreds that work there. There are just too many scams in Vietnam, everywhere from Hanoi down to central parts then HCMC, against foreigners and even against their own native people. It's very frustrating dealing with Vietnamese.

I was with a group of European tourists trekking through Vietnam. These Europeans were very sympathetic with the Vietnamese for having to endure a very long and very brutal war against the Americans. But everywhere we went, there were young and old people trying to cheat them out of small change. After having to deal with so many repeated attempts at cheating, these normally very kind and generous tourists just got very angry.

My feelings are that Vietnamese is a very hardened people by the very poor economic conditions and perhaps by the extreme brutalities during the long war. They are not easy, kind and gentle to deal with. Cambodians and Laotians went through the same brutal war, but they are much kinder and easier going when you deal with them. I cannot explain it.

It's not easy to find good-looking girls for good sex in Vietnam. The old Communist leaders are deadly ashamed that their young girls have to fuck foreigners for their living. So they go all out prosecuting prostitution to foreigners. It's just not worth the effort to hunt for sex in Vietnam.
