To answer your queries :
- Karaokes are a waste of time, don't go there alone. If you have some local friends, you can ask them to take you to one, maybe then you will have good time.
- 28 Hang Chuoi is actually pretty good. The real price is 200k VND outside + 200k VND (tip to girl). They will name 30USD if they think it's your first time. Just go and give 200k and act like it ain't your first time. If they don't budge, try to leave. They will surely stop you. The good thing about this place is it is less hassles and the girl is a bit more cooperative than other places.
- Other massage places are 62 doc ngu. 26 doc ngu, and some places Darker Knight have mentioned are pretty good.
- JUst do a search of these places on this thread. Moscow, Oasis, etc. I don't remember exact addresses, so you might search and get. They are real.
- As for full service, Hanoi Hotel, Fortuna Hotel are the expensive places with 100 or 150 USD price, whereas To Ngoc Van and Duong Hong Ha are the cheap places (around 500k one shot)
Cheers

Posts: 34Wondering if any of you mongers living here would like to meet up for a drink and maybe do some exploring?
I'm intrigued by this place:
Local KTV at Nguyen Van Cu. These are right across the Chuong Duong bridge over the Red River. Lots of them but best to veture with locals. It can get pretty wild here with the girls dancing naked and almost an orgy there. Take them to an adjacent motel if you want for about 300k-500k ST. Total expense about 800k per person for a group of 5. With the right company, these can turn out to be some of the best times you've had in Hanoi.
What's a KTV?
I've tried to find several of the places listed in the reports, with not much luck.
It's a pain not having a car, since a lot of the places mentioned are far apart from each other.
200 Yen Phu does not exist as far as I can tell. I walked that block twice, once during the day and once at night, and didn't find anything remotely resembling it.
I took a stroll past 28 Hang Chuoi St. (down the block from Kingston) , and was surprised when she quoted me USD$30 or 600, 000 dong. That's much more than what a previous report mentioned. Plus tips, I'm sure. For a 5 in the looks department, and not terribly nice ambiance from what I could tell. I know negotiating is the name of the game, but she didn't seem interested in bargaining.
In hindsight, I should have gone to Kingston then. But I still wanted to explore more.
There is a place between the two, on the perpendicular street. I didn't inquire within, but it would be worth checking out. You can see it just 20m down the street that comes off Hang Chuoi if you're walking between the two.
What's the deal with these huge club-looking karaoke places that look suspiciously like they could be strip clubs? Or is it my dirty mind playing tricks on me. I've passed a few of them, with lovely friendly girls standing outside, and just wondered. What really goes on in there?
I've tried a few massage places around the Old Quarter. They all turned out to be straight (real) massage, no hanky-panky. Guess I didn't know what I was really looking for, with the pink light etc. But the upside is that I've gotten some nice massages!
I guess I'll try Oasis 2, since it's a sure-fire and is walkable from the Old Quarter.
I only happen to know where it is since I passed it while walking Bach Dang, from the bridge south. Previous reports had mentioned that there was a lot of Tam Quats on this road, but I didn't see zilch. Nor moto girls, nor street walkers. This was at about 10pm on a Tuesday.
It would be super helpful if fellow mongers could post real addresses, with actual street names, instead of just assuming we all know where such and such place is. I mean, I'm just sayin'. Saves hours of internet research for your fellow brothers!
OK, let me know if any of you locals would be up for a drink tonight or tomorrow. I'm only here until Saturday.
Cheers.

It would be good if the elites like Darker Knight or Richard Dawkins post some update or tips.

Posts: 83I've checked out a few of the Tam Quats on Nguyen Hoan Ton recently. The road that runs along the back side of Ciputra as mentioned by a few others in this thread. Experience is pretty much as reported. 150K VND for BBBJ / HJ. Nothing special about the girls or service but I guess it's pretty good value for getting your rocks off. I don't have a particular favourite so just take a look and see what piques your interest. During the daytime you just have to bite the bullet and head into the place of your choice. In the evenings you see girls hanging around outside some of the places calling you in.

Posts: 68Near the Hanoi Opera Hilton
Hello All. Had a nice distraction on Monday evening. Walked out the entrance of the Hilton, headed left at around 9:30 PM. Lots of girls (and pimps) on bikes cruising. When they weren't greeting you from the bike they'd run across the street and grab your arm. One pulled up with a cute little spinner who spoke reasonable English. She was looking for $50. 00. I countered with $30. 00 and it was off to the races. We walked to a nearby mini-hotel (she covered the room fee). Girl was good, not great. But charming and fun to talk to. I think I enjoyed the walk with her more than the actual session.
We went to about five different no-tel's who all turned us away at the door. Apparently, it's not legal for a foreigner to rent a room in one of these places. For a Viet. No problem. So we visited about six places until we found one, tucked back into some very risky looking back-streets.
The room offered a clean towel, and sheets. And (amazingly) hot water in the shower. We cleaned up. She soaped me down. Everything was covered. Which was fine with me. I told her I was from New York. And she went on about all the places she had traveled to and worked. She recounted multiple tours to Singapore where she'd go to Ipanema. The Beach Club in Malaysia; as I said. The conversation on the walk to the no-tell was more interesting than the session. I wouldn't mind giving her $100. 00 and just asking her to recount her travels. She seemed to have some great stories.
What was really remarkable about this evening was the confirmation of an old adage I heard a long time ago about girls. That it's not the sex you usually remember, it's something special or unique about the girl. A sound they would make, or a personality quirk. Some of the more interesting girls I have been with haven't always been the most entertaining in the sack.

A little plug for a place I've not seen mentioned here. The mens spa on Kim Ma, down a ngo opposite Ngo 58 (see google). It's clean enough, and service is good. I wish I could take the receptionist up stairs too! For 250 for 1 hr. 400-500 to the girl, you get a nice massage with HJ. Some girls will let you go places with your fingers, others won't. Try #3 (nice big rack) and #1. Some might also ask for your number for take out. If you pay top dollar for 2 hrs the girls wear a top that leaves nothing to the imagination and no barrier for wandering hands. Enjoy.
