Having read the forum, I wasn't expecting much in HCM city last week, but thanks to some very helpful information from senior members I had a great time.

I went to Saigon a while ago, thought would share general info since I made an acct to ask some info.

- Ben nys. 90 (something) across the bridge. 350k everything, tips if you want. BBBJ, touching, etc.

- Many girl friendly hotels. Any 1-3 star hotel with less than 50 rooms are generally okay, after 9pm 200k tip usually required. If by chance it isn't (all the ones I was in was okay) , use a short term hotel for 10-20 USD.

- Around district 1 lots of places to find sex. Go out after 8pm and walk around. The backpacker area to the west of Benh Thanh market is good, Hai Ba Trung near the river (close to the clubs) is good. Just go check everything out. You'll get propositioned a lot, or look for guys standing in street corners approaching foreigners. They will have connections. I had a few good experiences there; tell the guys you'll tip them a little (100k for me) and they'll go out of the way to find you something good.

- The bars and clubs etc arund d1 are trickier. No guarantee you find what you want, and once you go in you've already invested into door fees, etc. The hostess bars in Hai Ba Trung are hit and miss. Negotiate, negotiate, and make sure they have what you are looking for. I left disappointed from a few venues. But I have a few good contacts from the street louts, those worked out much better for me. In retrospect, I followed a few street louts into dark corners and other shady places. I doubt international ring tone. I want to try to push my China trip to Vietnam. Mainly depend on how busy my work gets in the states. I will say to make viber work you need you internet on. With no sim card your roaming fees would be huge.

I need to be flexible in Asia so if I need to rush back to states for work I can. My plan is to fly to Hong kong first. In China tickets must have a departure date so I can't by one way. If I buy Hong kong to viet from states it will cost more.

I am a recent subscriber but have lived in HCMC for 10 years and Hanoi for 5.

I have been looking through the posts and have only seen one reference to one of my favourite bars in D1 and none on the other so I thought that I would share these.

The first is Pulse which is located on Thi Sac (I think No. 11) next to a Japanese place and down from Apo. And it rocks. You can choose your own tunes from YouTube and volume is not a problem. Pool table on the ground floor and comfy BJ rooms upstairs. I have seen BJs done on the ground floor too if that is your thing. I prefer a little more privacy. The girls are generally great and not too pushy. Take outs available. Standard bar fine.

Great music and "smoker" friendly if that is what you like. I have also met some of the most interesting guys in the bar which is sometimes a good break from mongering.

Hong will be your worst option because of CX dominance. Try Chinese cities like Shanghai and Guangxhou serviced by asian airlines. Or Bangkok. If you are in Shanghai then you must try the 'red rope' massage at the Shanghai hotel. Search in here for it. As for cell phones I just buy local sims.

Those places like the ones you are saying are only beauty shops, and you will not get nothing unless you go there for a few times, and make friends with one of the girls. They use to dress this girls like that to attract tourists, but that is as much as you will see there.
