    Berty,

If you are near the Sofitel ask there because it is possibly in their neighborhood.

The Smiley bar has some nice ladies in nice outfits (no bras) but the mama used to have a 5 LD before take-out policy and the gals drink Baileys like its water. The girls tell me that she is more negotiable now but the gal I was interested in is on the rags for a couple of days anyway.

The bar at La Camargue was jumping last night with a very mixed crowd. I took my favourite hairdresser there for dinner and a nice GFE afterwards.

The bar just down from bar29 with the 20 m alley has been there most of this year. It was styling itself as the Hard Rock Bar but has removed that sign. I took a gal from there (Trang) early this week. Nice body and nice looker but absolutely no idea what to do with any of it it in the room.

You are also dead right about the Shadow bar - it has a nice comfortable feel. But Chiac the manager makes sure the girls uniforms are very conservative.

Maybe it was No. 5 Bar

Thanks Wendella and Sudsoz, I think you got it right. It was near the corner of Ly Tu Trong and Ton Duc Thang/Dinh T. Hoang, and yes, a multilevel coffee house with neon etc. Right next door and some sort of nightclub with sticks on the roof (or stick fencing) across the street on the corner and a modern apartment building, 10 LLT, was also across the street further from the corner. Girls wore different t-shirts, but often red Ts with jean shorts. The bar was shaped almost exactly like the new Shadow Bar bar. Too bad it's gone. I liked the softcore environment and am looking for same. I'll tryout out your suggestions and post comments.

PS. I walked around and visited some of the HBT bars last night. The bloom is off the rose a little. Spent too much money without accomplishing much, though it was just a night for window shopping. Someone in a much early post said things get skankier as you proceed toward the river. I think that is fairly accurate. The Smiley Bar, (not on HBT), seems the tamest, etc. I was yanked into a "new bar" just up the street and away from the river from the new U2. I walked back into a building about 20 yard before entering a somewhat sad venue.

Wendella has figured out the potential old locations pretty well and there are lot of bars there but none that fit this description. The only two I can think of is the western theme bar near the Renaissance on Ton Duc Thang and the Steakhouse on Thai Van Lung.

It was going to re-open near the American Consulate. The consulate is on Le Duan in an area with lots of big fenced properties. Two possibilities are the redeveloped Saigon Square (I have not been there for a while) and the Saigon Tower building (but that has Singapore airlines and a lot of security on the ground floor).

This place sounds interesting so I will try to get up there are ask the concierge at the Sofitel. If they do not know whats in the area then no one will.

Hm. There is Ly Tu Truong street, and there is Le Thanh Ton.

There was a bar called something like A5 on Ly Tu Truong, across from a Spanish bar called Carmen. Inside that one had a very high ceiling and a very long bar that wrapped around in a kind of L-shape. Pretty big square shaped room. Pool table soon as you walk in the door. It's gone now, don't think it reopened anywhere (tho if it did, please someone share info on that).

If this isn't what you mean, you have to describe it better. Or else maybe someone else knows from what you said already.

For example, how big was it? Bright inside, or dark? What kind of outfits did the girls wear? At the one above, it was definitely westerner oriented and the girls wore kind of skimpy dresses with short skirts.

There was also a little place next to the Lotteria fast food burger place on Le Thanh Ton, one where girls wore ao dais (traditional Vietnamese dress) that had some kind of golf motif on their sign, tho the bar itself had absolutely nothign to do with golf. More of a Japanese style bar. That's gone too. It's a pho shop now.

Re-reading your post, you mention big coffee place next door. A5 had a giant cafe, multi level and lots of colored lights, next door. A5 also had French colonial architecture. That must be what you're thinking of. I haven't heard of it reopening.

    Number 9 Bar?

    Hi Guys,

I'm back in Saigon for a while. Last time I was here, right before year end, there was a bar called No. 9 bar on LLT (Ly Thi Trung?) right next to a large coffee shop. It was a haven for golfers, owned by a Swiss guy, and operated on the Hooters model (for you Americans anyway)--lot's of girls behind the long bar talk to with, not pros, at least not overtly. It was a good place to kick back, practice your vietnamese (or whatever), and not be pressured by the pros for more. The (also relocated) Shadow Bar on Dong Du(??) is like that, except the girls are not as sexy as at No.9 Bar.

Anyway, No. 9 Bar was closing year end and moving to another location--the owner told me "near the American Consulate," but I can't find it. Did they reopen? Where? Also, I'd like to find a couple similar bars--friendly staff there to talk, but not there to overtly hussle you. I can't monger every night!

    Thanks, Berty

It beats me how did she ever get through Hyatt security. She speaks very little English and I could not get her to explain how she did it.
    Perhaps:

    1. She bribed bellboy and the bellboy assisted her to get through security.

    2. She is the employee of Hyatt.

    3. She was the Japanese’s client staying close to my room. The client was pissed on those two consecutive nights.

    4. She bribed the security.

    5. She was a former employee of Hyatt and knows the way on how to get through the security.

    6. Rich VN girl who staying at Hyatt.

    Exhausted in HCMC

Spent two days at main office in HCM last week. Travelled quite late from Vung Tau and arrived at the Hyatt somewhere around 11:00 PM. Decided to skip bar hopping planned earlier.

Knock on the door and found myself face to face with one cutie. She was supposedly looking for a Japanese client who stayed in my room the previous night. As he was not there she asked me if I wanted massage. I was determined to say no but I let her in to practice the haggling. Knowing that penises rule our brains, we ended up deciding for 800k d for ST. Her name was Miss H. Tall and good features. Rating 8/10.

First a shower together with a good mutual soaping followed by straight to bed. Just about anything was OK with her--french kissing, BBBJ, oral on her, multiple positions. We finished together, sweating bodies, and just lie there to recover. She gave a great massage, too, which really relaxed me. Later round two, and sleep........only to be woken what seems like 5 minutes later as the phone rings with my wake up call for work.

Next evening I was determined to get some rest after long hours at office and late dinner with colleague. I visited #29 just for a drink. Turned down two offers from WGs. Went back to my room and displayed the Do Not Disturb sign. At 1:00 AM there was a knock on my door and guess who?

Miss H again. I explained that I wanted to sleep but with her massaging my balls I wasn’t convincing. After the financing was taken care of, she was straight into the bathroom and then head back to the bed. She said she just wanted me to lay down and let her do everything. BBBJ moving into various positions, she said she likes it hard - so hard we started pumpin'. After a few more positions it was clear I was going to struggle to finish, so she pulled out my pecker and started BBBJ again. I was starting to build up, when she said to come over her pussy - the movement of her lying back down however cooled things down, so she was quickly filling her mouth again, then asking for it in her face - which I duly obliged.

I collapsed on the bed. The wake up call sang its tune at 6.45am. - oh s**t - I told her she had to go then packed my things, had to check out, and get a taxi to my office - just making it in time for my important presentation.

Well, my two nights at HCM was exhausting but enjoyable. My biggest regret was that despite her offer I forgot to take her number.

How did Miss H ever get through security? Was there ever a Japanese person that stayed in my room or was I just flagged on arrival by a bellboy?

"xe" means vehicle. "om" means "cuddle". So "xe om" is when you travel on the back of a motorbike with someone (sometimes also "honda om").

"bia" means "beer". Hence "bia om". Also "cafe om", "karaoke om" etc. With a little imagination you can even create your own Vietnamese!

"bia om" is, to me, one of the most pointless ways to spend an evening. And expensive if you're footing the bill. Best to let your Vietnamese friends take you. Easy to get ripped off if you go yourself or "you take them".

Basically a group of blokes go to a place and get shown to a private room. Its a VN male bonding thing. Girls are brought in and each guy takes a girl. You then spend the evening drinking and snacking. They'll bring in a crate of beer which will opened by the girls who then guzzle down as much as possible. Not to mention knock half of it over the floor. The beer itself is not unreasonably priced. Even the room is usually OK pricewise. But the sheer quantity that gets sloshed around can make it expensive. Its pretty standard to pop the girls boobs out or pull her knickers down for a laugh. But that's as far as it usually goes. Anything more and you take her to the hotel. If just a couple of guys go then a hand job is possible. All a bit hit and miss.

Not much privacy either. I've known "waiters", "mamasans" etc to burst in and help themselves to your beer. Insisting on chinking bottles.

All rather pathetic in my opinion. Karaoke without the karaoke machine. Though often they have that too.

You tip the girl when leaving. They typically get the tip and a tiny commission on drinks. They either pay to work at the bia om, or have to meet a target for drink sales. Obviously they get more if you take them out. Met a software engineer at a bia om once. Fluent English (unusual). Just did it in the evenings for extra money. Nice girl, but exceptional.

In general don't expect anyone to speak English. Though in a parade of a half-a-dozen girls there's usually one that can manage a few words. But she might not be the prettiest.

Bia oms are usually at least a couple of miles from the centre and not really designed for foreigners.

While you may not be able to search the forum for some of these terms, a bit of reading will show quite a bit of explanation. Googling the net will get good info as well. You need to make a small effort before asking.

    xe om

    Gan,

Xe om is the term for scooter and driver for hire. I believe.

    Xe Om

I have seen the term Xe Om.

I think the word xe has to do with a vehicle.

    What is a xe om?

    Thanks in anticipation.
