Sorry but I would say that Gossip is one of the more affordable places. You should have tried Palace Discon located just a bit to the left of Duxton. The prices are way higher than Gossip.

If I remember correctly, a beer (Heiniken) at Gossip cost VND 60K dont know how you got charge triple that.

I visited Saigon earlier this month for business.

The Airport:
An absolute horror. Reminded me of the horrible airport of Kiev. Taxi from the airport to the city is cheap as long as the meter is on. Don't remember what I paid, so i guess that proves my point

The City:
Saigon/HCMC is a city very different from other cities in Asia. I've been to most major cities in Asia, and I find this one intriguing. I found most people very intelligent and eager to show how well educated they are. Their level of English was surprisingly high.

The city gave me somewhat of a European vibe... but then better

Pretty much everything in the central area is geared towards tourists, so be ready to bargain hard (or pay the price).

The Hotel:
Stayed at the Duxton hotel. Booking through a local Vietnamese travel agency will give you a major discount (even cheaper than Asia Rooms dotcom). I paid $70/night including TAX, SC and Breakfast. Got a room at the top floor overlooking the city.

The Duxton is a typical business hotel. Many business people from Singapore and Japan there. Service at the hotel was fine, breakfast was actually quite good and the rooms were ok. Nothing special, but at $70/night not bad.

The main gripe I had was the charge for the internet service in the room @ $18/day. The business center charged a whopping $1/minute for internet access.

I knew going in that the hotel was not GF, but had no choice.

The Hunting:
After being there for a week and checking out the scene, I was somewhat underwhelmed. The fact that the 3-5star hotels or not GF, was a MAJOR turn-off.

It was raining when I arrived by taxi. One of the security people welcomed me with an umbrella at the taxi (very classy) and escorted me inside. More security gards gave me an overfriendly welcome with much handshaking.

Inside, as I said: 80% drunken Vietnamese, Japanese and Singaporian businessmen. About 15 working girls all chasing the guys that were most drunk.

If I remember correctly, a beer was $10. I finished my drink and left ...not my thing.

Club 29:
Close to Majestic hotel and in walking distance from most of the other major hotels.

It's a small bar with not too many customers (at least the few times I was there). Every night they have about 20 girls inside, and most of the time I was there alone or with 1-2 other guys.

Girls will approach you and haunt you for lady drinks (150k/shot). Buying a girl a lady drink allows you to fondle her, grab her tits/ass/pussy and kiss her for about 10-15 minutes.

There weren't many hot girls there. Just one behind the bar with big tits and and nice body. Baught her 2 lady drinks and enjoyed the fondling.

Got her to give me a BBBJ with CIM upstairs in what I call "the cave". She started asking from $75, but I quickly changed the currency to Dong (never negotiate in dollars!) and got her down to 300k. Took a taxi went to some cheap mini-hotel in the backpackers district (just behind the central area). A real turn-off for me. There were staff sleeping on the stairs, in hallways and just outside our room.

The rooms were...well....cheap, but I kept telling myself I wasn't here to sleep. Still...it was a major turn-off for me (I could actually hear one of the ladies in the hallway snore).

We took a shower together, and then dried ourselves with the mini-towels. We went at it, and came in her face after about 10 minutes. Had a rest, then started banging her again. Came in her mouth after 15 mins.

While she was very nice and willing to do me all night long, the whole environment just turned me off, so I decided to leave.

I took out my wallet and gave her the agreed 1 Million Dong. She then started whining about the charge for the mini-hotel, but I reminded her firmly about the agreed price that included the mini-hotel.

As a tip: negotiate the price with the girl that includes the mini-hotel. Otherwise when you arrive at the mini-hotel, they will rip you off with a high price and of course the girl will get a comission for that.

I had a freebie experience here with a friend of a colleague. I'm not into this whole freebie thing, but it kinda snuck up on me.

All I can say is that many girls here are eager to hunt a western business man down and give him the ultimate gift. Of course they do expect the whole relationship thing and will be sure to give you the ultimate guilt trip if you are not into that... Don't think I have to get into this too much. For me, it's simply not worth the time, money and guilt trip afterwards.

While I do like Saigon and the women very much, when looking purely at hunting, I still prefer Bangkok ...but that's just my own personal opinion.

I'll be back in Saigon for a few days next week. This time will stay at the Ho Sen hotel. I checked it out when I was there and when you don't have to entertain business partners in a fancy hotel lobby, it will do just fine. Internet is free, rooms look pretty good and most importantly ... GF!!!

These clubs are generally for Japanese and Koreans. They have big company expense accounts. So, they don't care. Their entire business culture is based on working hard all day and then going to Karaoke bars (also taking customers) to 'relax. ' Then taking the girls from the place home. It's paid for by the companies.

Like Parnellcat, I know the importance of having a Vietamese friend who is trustworthy and who will introduce you to some of the naughtier aspects of HCMC. I know a xe om driver. He's not exactly a pimp, but like most Vietnamese males who have grown up here he knows where the locals go to have to fun. He is very friendly and speaks both English and French. I trust him which is saying something since in my experience most xe om drivers will try to rip you off. I'd be willing to share his number. He'll take you to the hot toc and bia om places that the locals frequent. He'll bargain with the owner so that you won't be charged the tourist price. Most of the international 5 star hotels are nowadays gf during the day and some also at night, if you are discrete. The governement owned ones (Saigontourist) are usually not at all.
