My friend said these guys all wore Russian pistols, so they were cops. He believed the girl in this case was most likely working with crooked cops.

Scary that undercover cops in Vietnam never feel the need to show their badges. They just assume that the people know they are real heat. I heard there was a string of robberies of jewelry stores in Hanoi last year by a bunch of guys posing as undercover cops.

I read in ISG a few mongers had also complained that they were set up by moto girls around the main market, where moto cops swooped in during the bargaining and extracted heavy bribes before letting them go.

It looks like there are lots of prostitutes everywhere in Vietnam, and the locals can patronize them easily. However, the comrades in Vietnam seems to feel the needs to keep up appearances to foreign visitors, so they have all sorts of stupid laws against tourists bringing girls into hotels etc...They try to project their straight-laced appearances by pretending they never heard of the word FUCK!

Hotel owners stand to lose their licenses and their properties if they violate the laws, so they have to bribe local cops heavily to look the other way.

Well, that's the way it is sometime in vietnam and elsewhere. It was many times stated by myself and others that Pham Ngu Lao girls steal, and that girls you pick up in the street steal. In the Pham Ngu Lao girl case, I bet she was in acquaintance with the cops, otherwise they would have put her into prison. Maybe they were not even cops!
Better stick to safer and more expensive places, especially if you are not experienced!

Hello to all my fellow Bro's, First posting on this site so bear with me. I've RTFF'd but could be prone to the odd schoolboy error. Anyway, on with the post.

In HCMC at the moment on business with mongering on my mind. I've mongered in quite a few countries and read a lot of the posts here so was looking forward to the experience. With business clients so had to watch my p's and q's. Intial outlook was that still plenty of bars (U2, 49 etc) with plenty of decent looking girls. A bit in your face and low market but readily available. On a brief moment of escape went into 49 but not a lot of choice so drank up after a game of pool and a few gropes and went to U2. Better selection there and ended up with a BBBJ/CIM for $30. Probably overpriced but was with a Malay colleague who had already sealed a deal with another girl so it was impossible to negotiate lower. All in all not a bad experience but by far not the best I've had.

My preference is a bit more upmarket from these bars so tried Cafe Royale. More of a hostess bar but some good girls. Was with clients at the time so didn't negotiate but it was obviously there for the taking. Got a couple of days left so plan to try out massage/HJ/FS and will post but from reading previous posts will avoid motogirls. Advice there would be "would you go up a dark alley with a complete stranger in your home town?". Think not so common sense should always be in abundance.

Good common sense: avoid dark alleys, you never know what could happen. There is a small chance that ANY PLACE a new SP takes you could be a set-up for a ripoff. I had three experience in my life where it could have gotten violent. The first time was when I encountered a SW who took me to a bare apartment. She decided a few minutes into the session (in the living room) that she had enough and walk into the bedroom. Her pimp/boyfriend came out and went into the kitchen. I started swearing and yelling (but was a little freakout inside) when I was putting on my clothes, saying this is fu..ing bullshit. But, decided to leave since I did not want to fight over $60 and he had probably access to a weapon in the kitchen. My life is worth more than $60. The second time was more worse for the SW who took me to a apartment which had people in the living room. After a BJ session, she asked for more money, I gave her $20 which resumed our session. Next thing you know, her pimp comes in the room, starts yelling at her for not charging money for extra time, then throws her out the door, across the hallway into the bathroom where she hit her head. She started crying, I started yelling, swearing and acting mean, telling the bastard she got the extra money. I got out of there no problem but I felt bad for the SP. No woman deserves to be treated like that, he will gets what coming to him one day. The third time was when the SW left my car because she was afraid of my vocal encouragement during the BJ. I guess she thought that I was a crazy, next thing you know me pimp boyfriend is sitting where she was sitting, and he was not there to finish the BJ. I was lucky to have my friend's relative drive me around in HCM which includes seeing m.c girls at 200,00 at pop. The locals know where to go and what to do for sightseeing, restaurants and your pooning entertainment-they know the right prices too. ( I feel for these poor backpackers who will be walking in the 30+ degree heat when they should be enjoying a back massage in an air cond room with a slim asian babe who has her hands on your love handles.) Since the palour is used by the locals, the prices are lower and the babes are good as anywhere else.

In communist Vietnam, undercover cops are everywhere, monitoring everyone, especially foreigners.

Another friend, a Vietkieu, picked up a girl one night in Pham ngu lao, the back packers area, for US$50. She took him to a mini hotel nearby. He paid $10 and went in the ST room. They both took off their clothes when there were loud bangs on the door. The hotel manager quickly opened the door and let in the cops, who were raiding suspicious prostitution activities.

The cops checked his papers, wallet and belonging carefully for drugs and political materials. They gave him a stern lecture on how they would not tolerate any Western decadence, and that by laws, they could have locked him up for 5 days for interrogation etc...They took down his name and made a copy of his passport. The girl just slipped right out the door.

When they left, he found out that all his cash, about US$500, was missing from his wallet. The hotel manager apologized profusedly, but there was nothing he could do, since he did not rent a safe for his personal valuables. There was no police report of the raid. He could not take down the name of any of the cops as he was roughed up and felt threatened. They weren't wearing any badges. He felt he might have been set up.

The pics he showed me of the Vietnamese girls make them look very similar to Thai girls with underdeveloped bodies, darker skin, small frame, short legs, small boobs, round face, straight dark hair, slanted eyes, wider nostrils... They don't look that good to risk assaults, robberies and LE entrapment, especially when their prices are similar or even higher than Thailand. Most of these girls look worse than the SW's in TJ who could be had for $20 ST. Some of these girls even look FUGLY.

WTF. Why did he have to go such long distance and pay that much money, risking a lot to fuck these ugly girls? Why didn't he just go to Thailand where prostitution are open and legal, and he could select from thousands girls, some very good looking in Patpong and Sukkhumvit? Sometimes he has to be there to attend to family affairs, so he has no choice.

You are right. Fucking Vietnam is a place with a lot of bull shit and drama, and not exactly a place I want to go mongering.

it is good if you are here and want to have a GF. that's the best way to go here. find a goog girl early and keep her for the duration of your trip. just my two cents. i will post something more about this later......

Acc to my experience abroad I can recommend the following:

a) Take always 2 wallets with you - a special oine for mongering activities!

b) Leave almost everything at the hotel, in the room safe or central safe. I've never had any problems with safes, even when I've forgotten something there and the next guest was already in the room...... (the security guide has to wake him up, was unconfortable for me, but all of us has survived..)

c) Put in your mongering wallet only as much as you think you need, including small money and change. There is no change back from your sweetheart, if you give her e.g. 50 USD and expect to get 20 back no way! (she will tell you you are the man of her dreams and should support her, tip her or whatever

d) Never let a girl to bring you somewhere in a place you don't know. I've made this mistake several time and regret it always. Insist on action at your hotel. Also don't trust the guys telling you they will bring you to a young lady. I've learned to answer: Bring the girl to me, I'll tip you 10 USD.

e) In a country like Vietnam I'll try to find an English speaking guy, pay him something (in Uzbekistan I've paid 20 USD/day + 10 USD for him for half an hour fucking one of the girls, he was so nice...) and let him assist you

f) Taxi is good as long as there is a minimum of communication with the driver. My eperience with the drivers, don't trust them too much, they don't put you really into danger, but often the results of their doing were not satisfying.

I know these are simple ideas but they were very effective since I use them.

A friend of mine just returned from Vietnam.

He took an offer from a good-looking moto girl one night. Instead of taking him to a mini hotel nearby, she took him into a dark alley where he was jumped by 4 guys. He was a big, tall guy, but they beat the shit out of him with bats. She just zoomed off in her moto, pretending she was a victim too.

One guy pulled a knife and gestured my friend to hand everything over. He had to hand over his wallet and a digital camera. The guy held a knife to his throat and searched all his pockets. Finally they all ran away. Everything happened very quickly and very quietly.

He got a couple big bruises in his stomach and his arms but no open wound. He was too embarassed to call in the police or report the crime to the US Counselate. He definitely does not want his wife and kids to find out that he went mongering. Nothing the local cops could do anyway since the thugs just disappeared into the slum. They probably set up their ambush again, the same night, somewhere else.

Lucky he had his passport and air tickets locked up in the hotel. His stolen CC were used for purchases of jewelry and other expensive items. Many attempts were made to withdraw cash. He had one hell of a hard time calling credit card companies to cancel. His trip was trashed without the CC. He told his wife his wallet was lifted. This guy was pretty shaken up and will stop mongering for a while.

When in a third-world country, it may be wise not going anywhere with a stranger at night, even in daytime. Know exactly where you are going and take a taxi. That's the safe way to go.

Last time in HCM there were a few bars one was like a cowboy saloon type bar is that Hai Ba Trung St with one on the corner with some real nice classy girls in!

But as i say it was years back the last time I was there.

Surfer is right, U2 is good and a right turn off Hai Ba Trung if you are walking away from the Caravelle Hotel toward the river on the right side of the street. I have done the upstairs room, a scary experience in the sense that I thought we might end up going through the floorboards, but the last time I was there I was told it was "being renovated" which is a good thing. Before you get to that right turn there are two bars at No. 49 and 51 where I have also had good experience.

I would recommend spending a little time assessing personality, a drink for her and a little touchy-feely time. Some of these women are real sweethearts and some are real bitches. I think, in general, the newer they are to the game the better.

More guys than girls, many tourist couples, the girls which are on the program are mostly very marginal looking. The Haa Ba Trung bars are WAY better. For those looking for action in that area, U2 (near corner of Mac Thi Buoy) is probably the best bet.

Writing this from HCMC where mongering has been low on the agenda for once. Best tip that I've seen is stood right outside the gateway to the Omni saigon Hotel, where I negotiated a US$20 FS deal, but sadly went off to malligans Pub to mull it over. The girls are apparently next door to the hotel, and you have a choice. Shame the pissed Vietnam Airlines (South African) pilot kept me talking for so long in the bar. Next time...

I have not been to Apocalypse, but it is still there. There are a number of hostess bars along Hai Ba Trung St. where you can find Vietnamese take-out or, depending on the bar, you can do the deed in a back (or upstairs) room. The girls will want $50 and will test your negotiating skills more than in the past. There is lots of info here on getting girls into the hotels. You might want to read up on that before your trip.
