This country still has a long way to go but I believe the younger generation is gradually taking charge. I have never considered myself to have super status in Vietnam and I certainly don't think I am any better than anyone I come into contact with in Vietnam. I like to think I earned their trust and friendship that now goes beyond who has money and who doesn't. I do business here because I love Vietnam and I try to give back as much as I take. I can't help where I was born, all I can do is try to prove that not all Americans are self centered assholes. In case you are wondering, I am too young to have anything to do with the war so that has nothing to do with it.

In the 1990's when I was involved with helping to change the trading status during the Congressional hearings, It was not just Vietnam vets but mostly former South Vietnamese who tried to block our efforts. For several reasons I too have contempt for many people in the Vietnamese government, but just like what we are doing to Cuba now, we were only hurting the common population.

Having lived in US for a while, I somewhat understand American more than my own people. In case you don't know, not only Viet Kieu but many (not all) other Asians including East Indian, Taiwanese, born & raised in-USA Asians also hold grudge against white American. And if you look further to other countries like Canada, Europe, you may see the same resentment which has something to do with the arrogant and egocentric attitude many white American possess.

You are the exception to the norm and nobody here in this forum that I've known has such super status in anywhere else. You are doing the Vietnamese a favor and it is their turn to return the favor. In the Viet mind you are the superior that they must try to please. The main reason probably is just the huge rich and poor gap between Viet and US, Viet and American more than anything else.

You REALLY need to go to Indonesia, the Philippines and/or Thailand. I bet you dollars to donuts you will revise your thinking on how attractive (and friendly) VN women are. The highest incidence of severe acne of ANY nationality I've seen, coupled with this obsession with keeping their skin as White as possible, is NOT attractive IMHO. If you only have women in the US and HK to compare them to, then I COMPLETELY understand. I am glad that you find our Vietnamese girls attractive. Many people I know like their slim body, me too. I also like the tall, slender, and white Korean and Northern Chisese girls. At the Bamboo Green Hotel 2, right across from the Catholic Church. The inhouse massage service is 100K, but 200K if you want girl to go to your room (which I ALWAYS prefer).
